I mistakenly thought that I would be going to a Mexican restaurant but, to the contrary, Julio's is a fine dining ($$$) Italian restaurant. The buffet lunch was made-from-scratch and excellent. It featured perfectly fried thick-and-gooey grilled cheese sandwiches; white pasta fagioli soup; chicken pastina soup with ditalini pasta; garlic toast; and spicy marinated peppers (which I put on my sandwich). I've had pasta and fagioli soup many times over the years but none as good as this -- obviously made from a traditional recipe from a real Italian cook! Some also enjoyed mimosas or aperol spritzes. The party host also purchased small bottles of Prosecco wine from the restaurant for us to take home as party favors. The ambiance was very comfortable in the back room for our group of about 30 persons, with three tables of about ten ladies each. The food was served along the counter of the bar area. A waitress took and delivered our drinks. There was a fireplace in the room but it was not lit. I hope to return one day for a special occasion to try their dinner menu.

I'm so glad I listened to mom! :-) What a wonderful dinner! Rack of lamb was stupendous, Dad got the salmon, which was very flavorful! This is not a rush and eat quickly type of restaurant. Expect to be here in an hour or more. But it's worth the wait. Every dish comes out prepared to order. Fresh ingredients & we ate in the dining room -but the café also looked very inviting. If I'm ever in Clarksburg again and want a nice sit down dinner with a wonderful glass of wine, I will definitely come back to Julio's!

They also have a kitchen staff that does food for events st the center. We had an amazing buffet with grilled chicken, pork loin, red roasted potatoes, green beans, and salad. Everything was cooked perfect and was very flavorful. It was more like being in a fine dining establishment than a conference center. It seems they must have a hired chef on site which was a great idea considering they could have just went with regular buffet style food. A great place to have a business meeting and event in the Bridgeport/ Clarksburg area.

We went to Bridgeport Conference Center yesterday for the Mother's Day brunch. A bit pretentious…read moreand over ambitious. Their menu listed every leaf of lettuce and pea. But it was disappointing. Our reservation was for 12:45 but we didn't get seated until after 1:00. Stood in hallway which was full of other waiting patrons AND those already seated because they had to go to other rooms across the hall to get their food. Not a happy solution. After seating there were no instructions as to procedures. We waited a few minutes then were told to wait for waitress to take drink orders before going across hall to get food. Waited several more minutes. Waitress was VERY busy so we went to get food and she got our drinks later (and dutifully refilled glasses when asked.) Many of the platters of various cold foods were empty. Others were messy and uninviting. I suppose everything advertised on menu was (or had been) there, although I never saw even a suggestion of avocado. We opted out of waffles, omelets and breakfast - too bustling. The hot foods were pretty readily available. The beef carvery was well attended and the beef was cooked well. The southern fried chicken was pretty good except the bread coating was quite crusty - almost like a hard shell. The shrimp was tasteless and the pork marsala was not very good either. The scalloped potatoes were delicious and possibly the second best thing they served. Desserts were attractive, fairly tasty and the layered chocolate cake was the star of the show! A jazz quartet played intermittently throughout - nice touch. We had to ask and wait for our check and the waitress did not tell us she would take care of it at table - so I wandered the hallway searching for a checkout register. The price of $24 was the same as the North Bend State Park charges for their holiday brunches. North Bend is not nearly as confusing and boisterous AND the food is better tasting. I do not expect to choose Bridgeport over North Bend again.

They've come a long way, and backslid. We were greeted by a very nice waitress who was also VERY new at the job. No one was shadowing her. I was with a group of four others, and our lone appetizer showed up promptly. Then the wheels fell off the bus. Three out of four of our entrees showed up. No salads. In the meantime, two other employees, one of them I presumed to be the MOD, were busy cleaning up after a large party, and using a sweeper to clean up under the table. Very noisy and disruptive. A broom would have worked just fine. I called over the man I presumed to be the MOD, and pointed out that our table mate had not received her entree, and we still had not gotten salads and bread. That was corrected. Our friend's entree had gummy, overcooked pasta, and a gummy Alfredo sauce. Clearly sat under a heat lamp for a while, and probably took a spin in the microwave. Anything with a red sauce was okay. The appetizer was delicious. Anything without a red sauce was not okay. It was pretty sad. In the past, I have enjoyed delicious meals at Minard's. Our post-Christmas family meals used to be epic. This was anything but. Why am I being so picky? I spent 15 years working front of the house, kitchen, and bar. Something is VERY wrong when the basics are completely ignored, and the customer suffers for it. Something is rotten at Minard's, and I feel that this place may go out of business before any of this is corrected.
