This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."

I came here again last night with friends and began to check in for our reservation with the bartender (the same bartender who had let me in the last time I was here). He spent a long time inspecting my CA REAL ID before going into the back. He returned and said he can't let me in since he doesn't trust my ID. He said store policy is that they have to be able to feel the imprint on your license's signature, which even he admitted that he could, but it was too faded so he wouldn't let me in. I showed him matching credit cards, Costco membership, and CA DMV mobile drivers license, but he still refused and pleaded ignorance. He gave me my driver's license back and said I'm lucky because he normally keeps fakes (thanks for the empty threat). In reality, he knew my license was legitimate and didn't want to have the cops called on him. This place really needs to update their policies and train their staff better on how to identify legitimate IDs. I'm definitely not gong to bother coming here again and will make sure I recommend others not to come here.

Definitely make a reservation in advance through OpenTable because they fill up pretty quickly. There is also a deposit required, which you can lose if you no-show or cancel within 24 hours, but the deposit is refunded once you arrive for your reservation. When you arrive, a hostess greets you at the entrance. There's a small waiting area where you can sit until they come get you. Then there's a door where you press a button, and it opens to bring you into the restaurant/bar. Inside, there's a mix of tables and bar seating, and they serve food in addition to having an extensive cocktail menu. The drink menu was definitely the highlight for me. There were so many creative and unique cocktails that really stood out. I'm usually not a huge cocktail person because I don't like overly sweet drinks, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find cocktails that are both original and sophisticated enough to actually sip and enjoy. They definitely nailed that here. I tried several: *Kasato Maru: This was so smooth and absolutely delicious. By far my favorite. You could really pick up the St. Germain elderflower and pear, and the flavors worked beautifully together. Definitely one of my favorites. *Sunomono: This was more liquor-forward, but still incredibly smooth. Definitely a good choice if you want something that lets the spirits shine. *Je Ju: Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. It had a really unusual flavor that just didn't work with my palate, and my friend wasn't a fan either. I'm usually not one to send a drink back, but the staff was fantastic about it. They happily took it back and made me a completely different cocktail. *Softly Spoken: My friend ordered this one, and it came in a glass filled with small ice cubes. I tried it and thought it was really good, but it wasn't quite my personal preference. It definitely had more of a fruity flavor profile. The food looked absolutely amazing although we didn't eat here this time. There are still so many cocktails on the menu that I want to try so I'll definitely need to come back. The atmosphere is dimly lit, intimate, and full of character. It has that cool, moody feel that makes you want to sit back, sip a cocktail, and stay awhile. And the service was phenomenal from start to finish. Overall, this was such a fun experience. Great atmosphere, creative cocktails, excellent service, and plenty more on the menu I still want to try. I can't wait to come back!

Bartenders were cool. Nick was our fave though for sure. He made some mean cocktails. Solid liquor selection plus a list of cocktails to choose from. I initially ordered the something and picante (can't remember the full name) and found it to be way too sweet. Then switched to a basic Lalo with soda and lime to cleanse my palette. After tried their version of an espresso martini which was quite good but made with nitro brew and kahlua so a bit on the sweeter side. I ended the night with my fave drink though which was a Hugo spritz and it was perfectly balanced. Definitely will be going back, especially for the love band Sundays. Parking is all street parking.

Happy hour was a great deal, $6 each item up until 6PM! I'm a cocktail girlie so I got the blue hawaiian, which was yummy. I would come back for their food or HH! Chicken Katsu Sando w/ Fries (4/5): it felt more like a chicken sandwich than a true katsu sando, but it was still good! I would've liked the chicken to be crunchier, but it came with a nice coleslaw which gave it a crunch. Fries were thin and crispy Buffalo Cauliflower (4.5/5): delicious! They were nicely battered and not overly buffalo-y. Plus the ranch was SCRUMPTIOUS Pretzel Balls (3.5/5): I wasn't a huge fan of the cheese dip. The balls were chewy and tasted like pretzels. The Break Room - The Only Room I Take a Break In. Tremendous Balls, People!…read more Let me tell you--The Break Room is absolutely fantastic. Incredible name. Beautiful place. When I heard it was a pool bar, I thought we were talking swimming, folks. Brought my red trunks and everything. But no--billiards! Way better. Much drier. Very smart move. You walk in, and boom--TVs everywhere. Sports on every screen. Football, baseball, golf, even one showing curling. Yes, curling. I said, "Is this Canada?" But it was San Diego, and it was perfect. The energy? Electric. Like a MAGA rally but with more nachos and slightly fewer chants. Now the pool tables--wow. Pristine. Leveled like the electoral map in 2016. The cue sticks? Strong. Straight. Tremendous aim. I sank the 8-ball on my third turn. People were clapping. One guy cried. He said, "That was the most patriotic shot I've ever seen." It was. Drinks? Ice cold. Beers from every country, even ones I've put tariffs on. Cocktails? Dangerous. I had something called "The Break Down." Delicious. Very strong. One sip and you start believing you could run the country. (Which I have. Twice.) The food? Classic bar food but next level. Wings that are huge--not like those little flappy ones you get at the sad chains. These are American Eagle wings, folks. The kind of wings that deserve a salute. And the people--salt of the earth. Beautiful people. Great conversations. I told one guy I used to own a football team, and he said, "That explains your arm." Very flattering. Might give him a cabinet position. Final thoughts: The Break Room is where champions unwind. Great games, great drinks, even better company. If you're looking to shoot some pool, shout at the TV, and drink something cold while looking amazing doing it--this is your bar. Would I go back? I never left. They gave me my own locker.
