SOPES: Pollo, pastor, chorizo (3 for $9)

El Taco Guapo is an cosy, attractive little nook with parking behind. The Sopes were quite good, especially the chorizo ($9 for 3, a very filling deal). Tacos are well stuffed. Good guac too, although strongly seasoned. They don't make their own tortillas, so no 5-stars for them. But otherwise worth driving a bit out of your way for.

Read some reviews on this place prior to coming and DEFINITELY will return! The place is small inside but filled with plenty of charm. To start, the chips and salsa was some of the best I've ever had. Perfect amount of salt and not too many tomato chunks. We ordered tacos and they were delicious. The carnitas could have used a little more flavor but with a little lime & their "green sauce" they were really good! Our waitress was personable and friendly!

Looks like I will have to visit this place a little more often. There are other Mexican places on the same street but this is more authentic than the rest and the menu offers some good stuff. What I ordered was real simple. Chicken burrito: Enormous size and the chicken was moist, not dry, it was just well stuffed with rice, beans, sliced avocado and just damn good. Papusa: I was happy to see it on the menu and i haven't had these in years. I ordered the cheese ones by surprise it was stuffed with so much cheese and served fresh it was absolutely delicious. Overall el taco guapo is a real nice place, clean very small like really small, and they offer much more than what I just ate, like fajitas, soups, tostadas, nachos, tacos, seafood, carne asada, salads, they even serve breakfast. This little place has it all and the food is bomb!!

Very small restaurant. Keep your eyes peeled or you'll miss it. Parking is in the back. Authentic restaurant. High quality food. Everything was delicious and filling. Staff very polite. Proving is reasonable. I'd definitely come back.

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon based on reading the Yelp reviews. We parked right in front of the building on the street and upon entering we were greeted by a lady behind the counter with a half smile then looked away. Unsure if we should be seating ourselves, I proceeded towards the counter and pick up a couple of menus, stood there for a few seconds and just decided to sit at a booth with my friend. There was only one other table occupied by three diners. Four high chairs were located in front of the counter and opposite of the counter were about 6 booths that lined the front window. It took our server about five or so minutes before she came to the table with a basket of hot chips and salsa and asked if we had been here before. We placed our order for drinks (water) and perused the menu. We decided to order two tostadas de guacamole, two fish tacos and a carne asada, all to share. It took a while for the tostadas to arrive, which we found odd since the tortilla wasn't hot and guac you would think was already prepared? It came with a jelly like topping on the guac which looked like marmalade but it wasn't sweet. When we asked our server, she said it was a tomato based purée like salsa. There was ample guac and overall very tasty. The fish tacos arrived shortly followed by the asada. Tacos were very good and the beef in the asada was fairly tender and flavorful. The asada was served with warm tortillas wrapped in foil, salsa, beans, rice and a small amount of salad. Our server was very friendly and personable but our bottled waters didn't come until after we started our tostadas and we had to ask for silverware when our tacos arrived...all things we thought were timed wrong. We decided to share a flan (their desserts are displayed in a glass refrigerated case beside the counter. The flan was very good but the only disappointing thing is we think it was store bought and not homemade based on the packaging. Our total tab including tip was $46 and we would return to try some of their other dishes.

4.5 stars is a bit much for this joint. But I guess in the food desert of Merrimack Valley it's not bad for Mexican food. I'm from LA so low expectations. Highlight were the sopes, airy fried dough, and the Pupusas. Chorizo, carne asada was pretty good. Al Pastor and Lengua were an atrocity. Burrito had a nice texture from the fluffy cheesy rice.

Preface: I'm from Southern California, so Mexican food outside of CA is really hard to beat/live up to for me...and I really wanted to like this place after all the great reviews I saw. Walked in and ordered veggie sopas, veggie tacos, and cheese pupusas as I haven't been fond of meat in my diet lately. The interior was okay, but definitely not spotless clean- anyhow I was doing takeaway so I didn't mind so much. Waited a few minutes for my order and then went home with my bundle of mexican food in hand. When I got home I was disappointed that I had been given the wrong order, it was all meat dishes...I called in and had to drive back to collect my correct order. I was pretty annoyed that they failed to give me the correct order the first time, but didn't let it get to me because I was so eager to try their food. Unfortunately the food was just mediocre. The pupusas were probably the best out of everything I ordered, as they were crispy and cheesy. The "slaw" that came with the order was gross and lacked any flavor- I basically threw it out. The sopas weren't bad either and included beans and sour cream. The tacos I hardly touched, because there was no flavor and the presentation was a mess. I understand that getting an all veggie order is not the focal point of Mexican food, but the tacos were just horribly constructed. The salsas that came with the order were basic and not flavorful. 3 stars because the food is just decent, but getting the incorrect order was super inconvenient...also my stomach was not happy the day after...

Okay so this is our first time here, so the place looks nice and clean. The staff is very nice. The food is not bad. I had the steak it was chewy and fatty didn't like it. The vegetables peppers onions and jalapeños were good I didn't like the rice too done for my liking. My son liked the beef tacos. When I come back again I will ask for no rice and do chicken instead. Warm corn tortillas were soft and tasty.

    Tacos... delicious.

Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed this time. The service was terrible, and the food was just as bad. The chicken enchiladas were completely bland with no seasoning or sauce, leaving them dry. The taco meat tasted oddly like it had been washed in dish soap. The burrito was no better than what you'd get at a fast food place--and honestly, it would have been cheaper and tastier elsewhere. I was embarrassed after recommending this spot so highly, only to have this experience. It seems like there are new owners now, because everything has changed--and not for the better.

On my most recent visit, after I gave my credit card to pay, the check and my card were lost before the transaction was completed. The response was essentially that I should cancel the card, which placed the burden on me to replace the card and update linked accounts. That same night, another server also spilled a drink on me. Mistakes happen, but this has become a pattern of poor service recovery and concerning payment-handling issues. Although I was not ultimately charged for the most recent meal because the check was lost, that does not resolve the inconvenience or the loss of trust. I will not be returning.

The mood here was kind of glum probably since Dora Taqueria abruptly cut ties and affiliation with this location.
