Great, affordable, authentic little hole in the wall that is easy to miss if you stick to the Main Street where all the restaurants and action takes place. For $30 my husband and I got 3 tacos Al pastor , a burrito carnitas and 1 huaraches Al Pastor and a bottle of soda. The corn tortilla dough was rolled, flattened and grilled to order. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The only slight negative was that when we entered at 7 pm in a Saturday night, half the tables had chairs on top of them as if they were closing for the night and there was a strong odor of bleach, which is nice to know that it was so clean, but I would've expected to see and smell that at the end of the night. We ate at one of the tables that didn't have chairs on top and by the time we left there was a line out the door. Clearly a locals spot and hot for take out. We'll be back! read more

Wow what food . Dining room could be a little warmer but the buritos are incredible. Authentic and fresh

This is hands down the best place around for Al Pastor. I like to consider myself a veteran of ordering Al Pastor from numerous establishments and this place takes the cake. They have street parking which can be hectic but other than that it's a great place for Mexican food. I love their burritos because they don't skim on the meat, rice or beans. The Al Pastor has the pineapples as well which makes the meat even more juicy. I haven't tried anything bad here and I've tried everything on the menu. So if you're looking for a Mexican spot give this place a try. The food is amazing and you'll love the price of all their dishes. read more

The food is delicious here, and I have have not gotten sick in the three times I've eaten here, but the other 6 people I know--including immediate family members--have ALL gotten sick (most, more than once) from eating here. Eat at your own risk. Food taste great. Staff is wonderful. Price is a reasonable. But there is definitely a 50% chance you're going to spend the next 12 to 24 hours in your bathroom. The lines here are so ridiculously long ALL the time. I don't know why they don't just hire more people. Sometimes as many as 20 people are in like, tons of people end up just leaving. Service can be so slow because of this. This has been the case every time I come, even in the new building. Please hire more people! This is very rude to the customers. read more

Quite a disappointing joint, you'll be in line for ages, (over 30min) just to be told when you finally get to the front that they don't have what you want. What is so hard about writing a sign to let people know before they waste their time? Then the food you do get after wasting your time is below average.....maybe California has spoiled me but the food was just meh, which is so infuriating after having to order something you didn't even really want. Family owned...which is always a good feeling to support but sadly I wasn't impressed at all. Initial chips and guacamole presentation was lacking. The chips weren't even warm - which warm chips gives higher stars. Their guacamole seemed off. It was very watery...typically means they weren't ripe. It didn't have that sweet ripened finish. I went ahead and ignored the mess/ dirty factor. I ordered their steak quesadilla. The steak was dry and hard - rice and beans were just fine. I ordered the quesadilla...instead the young man rolls up the tortilla into a burrito. I didn't order a burrito. I was expecting a flattened tortilla put back onto the grill...for a final crispy finish. Sorry to say I didn't get it. 3 stars for a decent burrito. read more

Food is dee-lish! Probably one of the best burritos I've ever had in my life. Food is cooked right in front of you. I had huevos with chorizo, rice, and beans in the burrito. Place is my favorite kind of dive, the one where the locals frequent. No public bathrooms so do your biz before you go. Prices good, parking pretty easy on both sides of the street, just watch before you cross because the road is heavily traversed. read more

I think I may have just found some really authentic REALLY GOOD Mexican! Yes in Haverhill, MA. I have driven by here a few times and wanted to stop. I am glad that I finally did. The menu: Tacos, Huaraches, mulitas, burritos. Sopas, Quesadillas, Toras, Gorrditas, and pupusas. I had a taco plate (3 tacos chicken, pork, and chorizo, served w/ rice and beans). The pork was the BOMB! So flavorful. I wanted a pupusa too but they "had no pupusa today". Very decent prices. The guys were Latino that served me knew both Spanish and English. The menu is on both languages as well. All the ingredients were very fresh. They have tables if you wish to eat there. It was very clean. I will be back. UPDATE 10-11-07 I have continued to go here especially in the evening. My irk is usually by 7:30-8:00 they are usually run out of most everything. How disappointing! read more

Probably one of two best Mexican restaurants I've had in Massachusetts. Their Al pastor is probably the best I've had here in Massachusetts. I did wish they cut the Al pastor straight from the vertical rotisserie. Their asada is probably top two I've ever had anywhere. What happened to my favorite spot? Have tried the Haverhill location a few times over the last few months and it's like a completely different place. No flavor at all, tiny portions, and expensive. It's like seasonings no longer exist. This went from best in the area to worse than Taco Bell. I stopped in by chance and so happy that I did. Authentic, fresh and delicious Mexican cuisine. Tacos with pulled pork was amazing and affordable. The workers were kind and courteous and so welcoming and helpful as I unfortunately do not speak Spanish. This is a wonderful option for pick up as it's a cafeteria style service. What in the name of the Almighty do people see in this restaurant!! The only good thing about it is the prices. I was here once before and hated it, but the good reviews keep coming so I decided to revisit. I got a quesadilla, Mulitas, tacos and a torta. The only thing worth eating was the quesadilla and it was only ok. I honestly wonder what kind of restaurant (where) others have eaten Mexican food. True, I have not been to Mexico, but I have been within walking distance (San Diego) and so I feel like I have some idea of what I am talking about. I came back to Haverhill for a mini tour with Frannie and my final stop was here. This time we split a roasted pork burrito and a chorizo (sp?) torta. Oh yeah ... it was gooooood. The roasted pork "seemed" drier than last time but maybe it was more flavorful with all that went with the torta. BUT believe me, it was still delicious. I have been going to Tacos Lupita for since it opened. Usually for dinner. Today I tried it for lunch. I read a comment from someone that said the the workers like to laugh and comment about the customers. You are right they do. But what shocks them more is when you tell them that you understand them. I order taco combo plate they were light on the Roasted Pork which wasn't very good I've had better, barely any "pico" or guacamole and I asked for limes she gave me 2 and I have 3 tacos. Most places give you 1-2 for each taco. Maybe I am spoiled. Who cares. I grew up in California ate real Mexican food LOL. Their portion size did not meet the normal standards which they are really know for. I'll stick to dinners. They are still better then El Taco Guapo. read more

While many restaurants claim to be authentic and take folks for fools because they don't know any better... This restaurant is not one of these.
