Every time we come here, the restaurant is clean & the service prompt. Stephanie, who was friendly yet professional, was our server. To me, food is nothing without condiments. So the ability to use salsa, like my Abuela used to make, on my burger was fantastic. Maybe in the future the restaurant might consider bendy straws; also, maybe add dog/chicken/cat/pet/stray bags for leftovers as I don't think any food should go to waste. I'd rather have a small plastic bag than a styrofoam box if that makes sense. Or maybe biodegradable boxes as the lunch bags did not hold up to wet lettuce. lol. I usually don't order Mexican plates here like I eat at home or La Botana in Brownwood. My first few plates here when I moved here were okay, so that's why I always order American food. But after today, I'm excited to try their specialty dishes on my next visit. read more

This place is a small family outfit, with spectacular tasting rich flavors in their food. The folks working were prompt, our food was prepared well and quickly...not the most elegant looking spot, but a must try if you get the chance! Passing through town and stopped here for a good Mexican lunch. Better than good, it was outstanding! I had chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. Very tasty! My wife had chicken quesadillas and she said they were very good as well. The chips were OK and the salsa was very tasty. All in all, a very good and reasonably priced Mexican restaurant. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on April 30, 2023 and I got a taco salad, my wife ordered a Chicken Fried Steak. She received a steak patty you get from a store that you just microwave to heat up, it was cold and hard. The waiter said he would take care of it and when we were checking out the clerk said my wife had ate nearly half and would have to pay for it all. I did not appreciate how rude the clerk was. I told her I would pay for all of it but would not be back. Our review would be bad food and the check out clerk was very rude. We will not be back !!!! read more

Was a little apprehensive about this stop, as the reviews were all so old. However, we were not disappointed! We ordered the Mocajate bowl - the food was plentiful, fresh and flavorful. We also ordered a side of guacamole, and it was equally fresh and delicious! My only disappointment is that we were only passing through and won't soon be back this way. Have been going here for years when up at hunting camp. Saw on yelp that it had changed owners, and was worried my go to place for Mexican food. WELL my worries were soon put to rest. Went here Friday 4/21 for dinner. I saw fried catfish with hush puppies and the trimming, WOW it was great fried to perfection. Friend had Mexican plate and it was big and he said better than ever. We ate here...well because there are not many options in Goldthwaite. I am a bit of a connoisseur of authentic Tex-Mex....so I am always open to trying new places. The inside holds quiet a few people, as you would not expect from the outside. The service was very quick. Our order came out very quick as well. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa was very authentic and you could tell it was made in house. We all loved our food and had no issues. I would come back here again....as I probably will since there is not much around here in the middle of nowhere. They also have a drive through pickup. read more

I ordered the taco salad, and the ground beef looked like it wasn't completely cooked, so I told the waitress about it, she said they hear that a lot, she said it's fully cooked, it just looks that way?? We went in at lunch during the week. The place was busy and the staff seemed overwhelmed. The staff was nice and friendly. The chips seemed stale and not fresh. The ground beef was chunky and not finely ground as in many Mexican Food restaurants. Having a deer camp south of Goldwaithe we most often eat here at least once and somtimes twice when we are down there. Service is prompt, friendly and efficient. Extensive menu, Tex-Mez and American. Everything is prepared when ordered except soups. My pal always likes chorizo and eggs with potatoes for breakfast. If its weekend I have menudo with fresh hot flour tortillas. Other times the chorizo, egg burrito hits the spot. good chips and salsa while you wait, but you must ask for them. Drive thru service availabe if you are in a hurry. Restaurant is always spotless clean. A spot where some locals visit in the mornings over coffee and meals. My kind of place for sure. read more
