Their food is very good, the flavor is always there and the green salsa is fire (although if you're not big into spicy, it might be too much for you). The service is good, feels a little bit rushed but that's because they usually have long lines. The ambience could have some improvement, the AC is not necessarily their best asset and the place can be kind of noisy sometimes. I'm visiting from CA so I was in Need of some great tasting authentic tacos. Looking up the star rating this place came up pretty high and I'll have to say they Do live up to it ! ! ! Great tasting Asada tacos. The staff were polite and very helpful to explain the menu. However the Downside was that you can't mix & match your taco meat on a 3 taco combination plate. The atmosphere is calm but, it is loud because of the exhaust fans which is understandable . The place was nice and fresh though. That's a plus with this Texas humidity outside. In the days post-COVID-19 when restaurants are struggling, we try to be forgiving of certain things. This restaurant is consistently slow and consistently forgets to put things in your bag. Forgivable. However, the one thing you do need is good customer service, and recently we had a really terrible experience (which I won't go into) And for that (no matter how good the food may be), the rating goes down (it seems others have had similar experiences) and we will likely not return. read more

The place is Small, but the breakfast burritos are BIG!! Honestly the weight of the to-go bag with surprising. My fingers are crossed as I drove back to the hotel as I was just passing through town with friends. But upon my first bite, instant love! Excellent flavor. A very large serving by itself. One burrito could easily fill a grown man, two burritos is asking for trouble! Next time I'm in Brownwood I'll definitely hit up this place again!! read more

The asada street tacos are amazing. The service was quick. The ambiance is okay. It's kinda loud inside. But I can over look that since I'm in here alone. You wouldn't be able to carry on a conversation at a normal volume level. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Went back today. Ordered menudo. After ordering pulled into a parking spot. Watched as the lady kept coming out with bags and walking from car to car to car asking "is this yours", "is this yours". So I guess if you want some free food just pull into a parking space there and say "yeah" cause they have no idea who ordered what. I ended up sitting there for over 45 minutes waiting for someone to ladle soup out of a pot into a container and bring it out to me. I saw a lot of pissed off customers. The food is good. Trompo tacos were "ok" it is mostly like Tex- mex .I paid 12 dolls for 4 tacos, beans and coffee. Is better if you order inside , line was super long . Salsas are hot . Seating is outside -with a lot of flies :( read more

Absolutely love the chicken street tacos, havent had anything else....The menu is confusing to me....Pollo is chicken everywhere else....still have not figured out what it is on their menu? And as someone else pointed out, their food is a little pricey . Would love to sit outside, but think some screens would be wonderful, as it seems the flies get bigger and bolder every year.. I am also glad to see a new business doing well in a long vacant building. We will be regulars for sure. read more

Stopped here while passing through Brownwood. We each had the Street Taco plate (4 minis). Tried asada, chicken, and pastor. All tasted great, especially with a bottle Coke. Service very friendly and food came out quick! Will definitely stop again when in town. read more

We were heading back to Lubbock from a weekend trip to Austin and needed to stop for a quick lunch somewhere with a patio to let our dog have a break too. We stumbled upon Tacos "El Compa" in an gas station and we are so glad we did. The menu was in Spanish so we knew the flavors were going to be legit and they didn't disappoint. I ordered the asada tacos and they were some of the best I've ever had. They even managed to make the corn tortillas taste good! The facility was super clean and the people were just as friendly. We will definitely make this our taco stop in Brownwood from now on! read more

Have tried 4 different times now after initially waiting a month to work starting business hiccups out. Chorizo egg burrito was OMG good, finally someone not trying to peddle Jimmy Dean gringo sausage as chorizo. Took some of those and bean/cheese to office for co-workers to try and got such good feedback and requests that did a larger order the next day. My wife and I came here to enjoy a nice lunch. The food here is pretty tasty. The only issue I had today was a nickel and dime one. I paid for 1 pound of meat for 6 tacos and it comes with only 1 tiny cup of salsa. The rest would have to be paid for. A lot of people like a good amount of sauce on a taco and I would say the average amount needed would cost an additional 6 bucks. The cooking was exceptional at least. read more

The food I had was good (street tacos) but this place has a long way to go. They've only been open a week & I get that but the basics aren't there. All seating is outside, the service is inexperienced, the "condiment bar" (which no one tells you about when you order) was 50% empty at 5pm, the overhead menu is unreadable & not explanatory. The takeout menu is hard to read & doesn't explain the food offerings...all in Spanish. The outside patio could use some plants, music & maybe salt & pepper, napkins on the tables for starters. Looks like they are open at 5 for breakfast which will be good for Brownwood 's huge burrito crowd. Its not cheap & they need to finish getting set up to be competitive. Ill wait a month before I go back. I can only imagine how chaotic it would be if there was a big crowd! read more

Ordered the street tacos (pastor) meat was burn and dry full of grease and the corn tortilla were hard around the edges. Only thing you can taste maybe the onions that were on top. Excellent! Friends recommended the breakfast tacos so we thought we would give it a try. We were excited to see a great lunch menu with many different meats. We had the torta and burrito. The torta was on delicious home made bread. The fajita meat was a whole chicken breast with wonderful seasoning, cheese and beans. The burrito was carne asada. Best carne asada ever! Excellent seasoning. The only issue was the chips. A little stale. The meal made up for that. Will be going back! read more

I have eaten at this place twice now, the food was terrible both times. My first experience I walked in and once I got past the rude glares of the employees and attempted to order I found that nobody at this place spoke a single word of English and I do not speak a single word of Spanish so ordering was difficult since everything is in Spanish and the attitude I received for not being fluent in Spanish was ridiculous. I tried to order myself a few tacos and ended up with 3 flour tortillas with ground beef pulled up on them when I asked about sour cream and hot sauce and tried to order a drink the lady looked at me like I was stupid so I took my ground beef and was on my way. The second time a friend convinced me to join them for lunch reluctantly I agreed fortunately I had someone who spoke english this time so that was a plus, I ordered street tacos and the greased corn tortillas sloppily piled with beef we're less than satisfying and still I got strange rude glares from the employees in the back and unnecessary attitude I have not ever felt welcome nor has the food ever been even close to good I will not be returning to taco el compa again. read more
