"Tomahawk Ribeye"

Espanol Si eres Mexicano no gastas tu tiempo. Ve a otro lugar si quieres buen marisco. English. Our experience was short of good. Service was slow and rude. The Music they play isn't Mexican Music or even Spanish at that. 1. Their menu is filled with errors they will try and argue about it. 2. Do not order the tomahawk ribeye it is not at all what the menu picture shows 3. They love to argue about the menu. 4. Don't change your mind on what drink you want they charge you for ordering it. 5. The food takes FOREVER to come It is not the waiters fault it's the owners and I understand that. Overall not a good place at all. Go somewhere else if you want good seafood.

El Timón de Cancún - bar
Leonard E.

A seafood dinner was planned this evening after our group of 3 stopped elsewhere for appetizers & drinks. The El Timón de Cancún dining room overlooked the water and long dock. You could smell the ocean air blowing through the open-air covered restaurant. A team of 3 staff appeared at our table bearing a tray of fresh seafood (sea bass, giant shrimps, lobster tails) and aggressively tried to upsell us but we declined. They came back again with a smaller bass and we declined again. Our drinks were bottles of Indio Cerveza and a can of Coke Sugar Free. A bowl of Tortilla Chips was brought to our table with 2 dips; 1 spicy, 1 not spicy. After scanning a 14-page online menu and then requesting a real menu, we finally placed this order: * Small Shrimp Ceviche * Order of Scorched Octopus - grilled Octopus tentacles prepared with 3 chili sauce * Chuck Steak - one of the most succulent Mexican cuts (cooked medium well). Overall score 3; Food 3.5, Service by Christina & team 2.5, Seaside Ambiance 5. It wasn't just me as all of us felt too much pressure from service staff to order things that we didn't want.

Aguachile
Kimberly R.

Cristian was a great waiter. Explained everything to make a delightful meal. Shrimp soup was wonderful. Ordered seafood plater for two. Aguachile, sinaloan style not to be missed. Drinks were not soft poured, just right. Coconut ice cream to finish.

I would've liked the actual meat of the fish to be more tender (it bordered on overcooked) but still I walked away plenty satisfied. It does have lots of tiny bones. Bread basket came with the most delicious roasted eggplant in oil, I could've eaten just that with the bread and been a happy camper. The roasted octopus was not bad but a touch too heavy on the sauces for me, I would've wanted more of the flavor of the octopus on its own. The potatoes under the octopus, however, were perhaps my favorite part of the whole meal. Everyone else seemed happy with their food - the catch of the day (with the fluffiest mashed potatoes) was a very popular choice. If you're sick of seafood, they have steak and braised brisket on their menu. Really cozy and romantic ambiance as well for if you want to dress up slightly. This place gets very popular for good reason; I liked the little bar counter they set up out front so you can watch the grilling in action.

It's huge, as far as presentation it's not very fancy, it was tasty but as large as it was you'd think it had more alcohol to offset the size. But it did not. My wife ordered the aguachile with octopus. I ordered the Tuna Burger, and we got the steak quesadillas as an appetizer. My wife said she would give her aguachile a 3.8 out of 5. I thought the tuna burger was very tasty. Basically they took a tuna steak and put it between a hamburger bun. I can't really compare it to a regular meat burger. But on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 7. It came only with lettuce and tomato, but it had flavor enough. The quesadilla's were good, but nothing special, I'd say they were comparable to any you get at an average Mexican restaurant in the states. We came here because of the high ratings. Maybe we ordered the wrong things to try, I thought everything was good, but nothing that was so good it made me want to hurry back.

The menu is simple with just enough options to where everyone can find something they like. I had the skirt steak tacos and my friend got fish tacos, We also ordered a frozen margarita and mojito that were huge!!!!! The prices were fair for what you get and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The music is not too loud so you can have a conversation with your group. They are not pushy to get you in and out like other places. Will definitely be back

It is one of my favorite restaurants in the hotel zone and some the best Italian I have eaten. We had a group of 10 and were seated in a private room. The service is top notch. Everyone is so helpful and kind. They have an extensive wine list that is sure to satisfy any craving. Before dinner, they bring bread with cheese and spicy onions and peppers that is delicious. My personal favorite meal is the green hats, but I really don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything they serve is the perfect balance of flavors. Everyone in our group loves their meal which is why this place continues to be a staple for us year after year. I look forward to coming back to Cancun just to eat at the restaurant. Our time and money is always well spent here and we have always had a wonderful time and incredible food. We do not do all inclusive, but even if you do, I would still recommend making a stop here.

Such a perfect spot for a special family dinner. We left full, happy, and already looking forward to coming back!

The wine selection is superb. And by the way did I mention desserts? They were absolutely fantastic as well. There are many restaurants in Cancun near to the touristy areas. Many of the dishes have strange ingredients that the regular gringo hasn't heard of, which makes this even more exotic! The dining area is split between a covered outside area, and seating on the grass overlooking the lagoon. Be careful, there's alligators in there! The service was fantastic- the waiter was patient, spoke English, and made excellent recommendations.
