During my four years at this high school, the bathroom stalls had no doors, how is that OK?! This lack of privacy was unacceptable and has left me with nightmares even decades later. When it came time to apply for college, I found out too late that I hadn't taken the necessary classes to meet college admission requirements. The school never informed me that the courses I was enrolled in wouldn't prepare me for college. As a teenager, I relied on the school to guide me, but they failed to provide the necessary information and support. This lack of guidance severely limited my post-graduation opportunities. read more

My son is starting school here and has so far loved all of the sports programs. They have a large campus with all of the sports you can imagine, very nice fields, well maintained. The staff is great and the location safe for kids to walk and take their bikes to. read more

Umm what ? EL TORO ? WHERES THAT? MEXICO?......."no its in lake forest."..........That's usually the response I get when I told ppl of my high school's name. Mehhh I really enjoyed my last yr (senior yr) here due to my high success in all levels of academics. On top of that I only had to go to school from 7 am to 12 pm...how sweet is that. On top of that, I usually ditch my 1st period (English in the morning is such a titty twister) and write fake letters to attendance to excuse me. Man were they dumb. Teachers here usually know what they're talking | teaching about, and they're all nice and friendly. Though sometimes you get the really really weird or cooky or OUT OF THIS WORLD teachers...like my algebra 2 teacher who was just beyond words. If not... you get the really bitchy calculus teacher who calls you dumb to your face. She doesn't look harmful because shes 5'0 and Asian but really she can tear you into pieces. El Toro by far has one of the nicest campuses out of all the OC high schools. During my 4 yrs here, there was construction, but by senior year...everything looked nice. There's a track course here as well as huge grassy areas for physical activities. The gym is pretty big, and there's a weight room attached to the gym. There are tennis walls outside of the gym as well as some black-grounded basketball courts. There are locker rooms for both male and female, and they're pretty big. El Toro has an outstanding athletic program...I was on the volleyball team for 4 yrs but we weren't all that great. Other sports though have won league | state | CIF championships thru-out the yrs here. Kids here usually have their own cliques. They're all snobby little bitches who all do drugs and live in their own little "OC bubble." Typical ignorant high school kids. Anyways, send your kids here...it's better than Mission Viejo or Trabuco high. read more

Terrible for students that arent on the football team, worse if you are. The gym is so disgusting and dirty that there is rats when you turn off the lights every damn time, the only thing that even is remotely well taken care of is the football field that houses the worst team in the state. I don't know why they pour so much money into the football team, they usually go 0-10. Overall everything is underfunded and i know so many damn graduates that all say they had terrible drug issues or knew chronic drug addicts or people that overdosed here. Chances are if you get asked while attending el toro, you'll get a "Im sorry for you bro". If you want your kid to not have the chance of having terrible drug problems, take em to MVHS or THS. The only thing i recommend is the music programs, but no way in hell the drama program. The teachers are okay, but they all hate the school administrators as much as the students do, which says somethin else. 0/10 dont attend. read more

The school is set in a pretty forest area and some of the buildings are brand new so it's a nice location. They were very accommodating to my daughter and she was the first person to be on varsity cheer and then on varsity swim. she lettered in both varsity cheer and swim and was recruited to a D1 school for swim. She also was given a scholarship for swim and one for merit. ElToro gave her the chance to grow as a student. They helped her during the college process and she was accepted to every college she applied to. You really cannot ask for more from a high school.Covid made things so difficult but these kids came out all the better for going through the trial. read more

Both my children went to El Toro High School. My son was school choiced into Trabuco Hills High School, which is also very good. Fortunately he chose El Toro. He was in Waterpolo which he loved and is at the top of their league. My daughter was in Track & Field & Pep Squad. Both excelled and had a great 4 years. It was very obvious when observing the behavior. She enjoyed the program because of her friends and glad she had the experience. However, Just because a few people have bad high school experiences, doesn't mean its a bad school. High school is what you make of it and what you want to put into the experience. To address the Stadium.... From what I understand, the residence around EL Toro had to sign a document allowing the stadium to be built. I remember the 1st game there was a lot of celebrating, which caused a lot of trash in the neighborhoods surrounding. But who says it was ET kids that threw the trash. Regardless who it was, the Pep Squad had mandatory trash pick-up the next morning in the neighborhoods surrounding the school. El Toro High School was a finalist for America's Most Spirited High School award. They transform the entire gym and surrounding area. It takes thousands of hours of man hour volunteering their time to bring this event to life. Overall its a good school. The campus is clean, and most of the staff is fun and good. The ONLY problems are the funding of the school and how they put almost all the money towards the football team, the bathrooms (boys) arent kept up almost at all. other than that the achool is pretty good. read more

I graduated in 2017. I had a friend and she broke up with her bf at the time. He threatened to kill himself because she broke up with him and was self harming very bad. She was genuinely concerned for him so she went and spoke to the guidance counselor. The bitch who was his counselor (his last name was Lopez. Hopefully they can find out who worked with those last names and talk to her, this was year 2016. Office can be difficult to work with. Most of the teachers are friendly and helpful. Education is acceptable I guess.

The education received so far is okay. The food sucks, but they serve chips (yay). The bathroom locks still don't fit properly, and a lock is still missing (what's so difficult about fixing a BATHROOM STALL LOCK? How petty can you be?) Mhm. Creepy PE teacher this year (*cough* Mayoral *cough COUGH*), like who says to their students to "come to daddy" and complains about his wife? Sheesh. Dude's got problems. Ah yes, and the weed stall's still there. Staff obviously know about the drug and marijuana problems here at school, but are unwilling to acknowledge it. The place probably hasn't been renovated for God knows how long, and the math building's been smelling like moldy, warm cheese wrapped in a sweaty gym sock for a while. Ew. But Ms. Nadal, you rock! Average high school in Lake Forest. Some good teachers.

I'm a sophomore at el toro and it's been interesting. The school is not entirely bad nor is it entirely good. Teachers are super chill, really nice, and will help you with any problems you have with the subject. The sophomore english honors teachers are so nice, funny, and teach in a way that makes the class feel as easy as a regular English class. As far as education, most teachers are great(but definitely not all.) Plus, there is a very high pass rate for the ap and in exams(somewhere between 90-98% pass rate I believe.) The students are really friendly and the upperclassman are really friendly, are great for advice, and will answer any questions you have. As far as I know, bullying is not a problem any student at El toro faces. Athletics is average, as there are some sports which El toro excels in such as, track and cross country, soccer, and waterpolo. Although everything above may sound nice, drugs are a problem here. Many students who aren't as motivated turn to drugs and many students think its cool to vape(which is a MASSIVE problem here.) This year as we welcomed a new freshmen class, I have seen a stunning amount of them having to transfer to a lower class high school within the first few months because they got sucked into the world of drugs. In my opinion, send you child here but educate them and warm them about the happenings and outcomes of all the problems because drugs are a problem in almost every high school so I wouldn't judge El toro based on it. Don't think that your child won't do good here because of drug problems because it's an issue in every school. All I'm saying is that it's overall a good school and it can be fun(LOTS OF ACTIVITIES AND HAPPENINGS GOING ON.) But don't kick El toro out when deciding which school may be best for your child just because of the drugs because it's a problem in probably every school in America. My opinion- Send your child here. read more
