I am the parent of a high-school neurodivergent student. We spent several months prior to entering high-school dilligently researching several local online and in-person programs to find the very best environment for our daughter here in Orange County, CA. On paper, Crean Lutheran checked all the right boxes; (1) smaller class sizes, (2) a "learning success program" for kids with diagnosed learning disabilities, (3) good education, and (4) social opportunities. We met with the LSP team and they met with our daughter --- seemed like a good fit all the way around. Unfortunately, the program did not at all live up to our hopes and expectations. (1) Teachers were not proactive in addressing academic progress (or deficiency) -- in some cases seemed to hand out more packets than actually teach the subject, (2) the LSP team lacked specific experience and expertise with mental health and learning disabilities, (3) despite it being communicated on numerous occasions, the support staff did not engage in assisting our daughter with self-advocacy (rather putting the burden of something she clearly struggles with back onto her --- which severely impacted her social and emotional anxiety) --- lots of prayer but little action -- as a parent, just disappointed the adults in the room did not step up. Last but not least, the last message that was sent (crystal clear) to us and our daughter is that the graduation metrics meant more than helping a student in supporting her academic and mental health challenges --- seems to be out of alignment with their religious values. Our daughter and ourselves are devastated -- but she is smart, talented, and an overall amazing girl who is going to show the world what she is made of. read more

this school terrorizes to the neighboring communities that live adjacent to them. the school doesn't provide enough parking for their own students, so they park on the streets of neighboring communities - the students litter, drive too fast, park illegally in front of fire hydrants, and park in areas designated for residents only. the parents use our community as a drop-off zone and cause unsafe traffic conditions as a result. there is a group of boys who peel out in their cars and drive about 50mph in a residential street. multiple attempts to reach administration regarding this issue are ignored. it is clear that they do not follow the mission and values plastered all over their website. read more

I am currently a freshmen at Crean and everything is amazing. Most high schools contain bad kids and some bad teachers but at Crean every teacher actually cares for you and wants you to succeed. And for the kids everyone is friendly and welcoming. And the schools education is top notch. read more

My daughter attended Crean for four years. I can't recommend this school enough. It was given her the high school experience we had hoped for her. The teachers care deeply about the students -- both academically & spirituality. Their communication with parents is very good which has been helpful. My daughter is prepped and ready for college thanks to Crean Lutheran. Now my son will begin school there next year. Looking forward to watching him grow there. read more

As a parent, I am so disappointed in Crean. While our current climate with COVID is no one's fault, how Crean chose to manage their online model and the graduating class of 2020 is certainly something that was in their control. They completely let down their students and families. As a consumer, I would strongly recommend asking questions of Crean and holding them accountable for their actions if you are considering an investment in a private, faith-based education. When the educational model went to the online component in March due to the global pandemic, my daughter had very little interaction with most of her instructors. Her dance class required more of her time, than her academic classes did. There were days when nothing was necessary for her to even log on to her classes, which in my opinion, is completely unacceptable. Crean's model left me wondering why my daughter was educating herself, and why we weren't being reimbursed tuition for the lack of education she was receiving. Instructors did very little to finish out the year, other than process the paperwork that the students were required to complete in order to satisfy the requirements of each class. While they attempted to do their best with senior events, most were disappointing. Cancelling graduation not once, not twice, but three times was unacceptable. Private schools in the area were able to get their ceremonies done in a way that were meaningful to both the student and the family, while observing safety protocols. This gave the other school's graduates a proper send-off that they deserved. Crean only provided half-hearted apologies, which did little to mark the occasion of such a "right-of-passage" moment. I wouldn't be so critical if I had not seen what other schools were doing to honor their graduates. It's true that we have had our issues with Crean for over two years now. I attempted to forgive Crean for how things have been handled so that our family could move on. I kept giving Crean the benefit of the doubt in these trying times. For such a young school with so much promise, the recent events have left me feeling hopeless for their future as I watch their leadership team continue to dismantle what they have worked so hard to build. read more

This school is amazing! The teachers are young & vibrant plus the staff is phenomenal. My daughter attended and I'm excited for my son to attend to. I have experience with every private HS in south Orange County & this is school is hands down the best !! They are so invested in the students & treat them like family as opposed to a payment. My daughter struggled & wasn't by far the easiest student but they cared for her every step of the way.. God bless Mr. C for being a strong cheerleader for her even when we were disillusioned with her goals. Your faith kept our faith strong in her future. Btw to the comment of the Korean national the school is at least 20% international & many accommodations are made for them that aren't for the "caucasian" students. We are very pleased with our first year so far at Crean. The communication between teachers and parents is excellent. This was a huge factor for us. There are many opportunities for success here. Our son has been really enjoying Highschool so far and we give just as much credit to the teachers and excellent staff that seem to care ab the well being of the students. The brand new gym is amazing as well the brand new turf going onto the football field this year!! read more

Student from Crean Lutheran! This school is very religious based in a way that it is constantly shoved down your throat. Many students are not Christian or religious at all but are still required to attend chapels, participate in life groups, take a religious class for 4 years (only options are Christianity), and pray almost every class. The majority of the staff is very biased and unsupportive of their students. In addition to forcing their own beliefs and opinions onto students, they do not accommodate disabilities. During the first few days of each year, teachers tell you how flexible they are because they care about you and your mental health. I've learned that this is not true. My mental health has been deteriorating and the pressure of trying to keep up with my assignments is too much. Additionally, the students are very toxic. I've seen students mocking races, making fun of students for being autistic, and looking a certain way without suffering any consequences. Another point -- the expenses are overwhelming. Crean Lutheran charges for absolutely everything. The tuition for this high school is well above the average college tuition in California. The uniforms are also way too expensive, especially since you are required to buy them and the school knows this. read more

Our daughter is a junior transfer to Crean this year and she immediately assimilated into the Crean community beginning in the fall. The kids were warm and welcoming and have become great friends. The teachers and counselors are very invested and caring and truly concerned about each student's outcome. The school's Business (and Medical and Engineering) Cohort is a huge bonus. The kids take business classes and attend conferences, field trips and speaker nights. Their Performing Arts and Spirit programs are terrific, and they offer so many ways for the kids to get involved in leadership at school. The school is fairly new (12 years?) but they have accomplished so much in such a short time. The campus is beautiful and state of the art, and it reflects their work towards excellence in all things. read more

I attended here for four years, and I do not regret it one bit. I love this school. It is a perfect small school that isn't going to grow tremendously population wise, but the school itself will go better every year. All of the sports teams are consistently getting better and all of the facilities are becoming some of the best in OC. I would tell any middle schooler who has the leadership to blaze his own path, go against the grain, and make a name for himself to come here. All the teachers are amazing, and honestly care for every student. Also, shoutout to ms. Howe! If I could give this school 0 stars I would. I was a student here and it was the worse experience of my life! The teachers, guidance counselor, and coaches really don't care. Now don't get me wrong there are those special teachers who truly care about your learning, but sadly that is not the majority. There is major bullying at this school which the facility don't acknowledge. I think the part the gets me the most is that they only care about money, I wanted to be an office aide to get half a credit because I had a free block, they said yes but only if I paid them money for it. I had to pay them money to be an office aide. Does that make any sense! My sibling also went to school here and his guidance counselor totally forgot that he needed another credit in math, she said this to him his last semester of his senior year! So yet again my parents had to pay more money for their mistake. I now happily go to school at Orange Lutheran High School and they are the best! They truly care about the student and their learning it was so refreshing! So if you are considering this school please consider all of these problems. read more

This school has a serious drug problem and the curriculum is too easy aside from AP classes. Stay away from this school if you are not a Christian or if you're still deciding on your faith because they teach hate and brainwash students into hating and bullying others others. They had a serious cyber bullying incident recently and when it was brought to the attention of the staff they did nothing about it. The only reason my review has one star is because the campus is clean and they have a hybrid program. The hybrid program allows you to go to school twice a week and take other classes outside of Crean. The only reason I love this is because I was able to challenge myself in my classes out side of Crean at community colleges and also because I would go crazy if I had to spend an entire school week at Crean. read more

Our daughter was in the first class when they opened the doors in 2007. This school is wonderful. The teachers care about the students and academics are second to none. Crean prepared her for college. The service projects she did at this school also prepared her for life. Sending her here was one of the best decisions we ever made. read more
