Wouldn't recommend calling during lunch time. Called in and gentleman probably forgot to put my order in as I waited 30 minutes when I showed up and was told 10-15 minutes over the phone. Stingy with the sauces too. Was given one sauce for two combos I ordered. Once I got home two of the 5 flautas from the combo had nothing inside of them. Won't be coming back in but at least two stars cause food was decent.

I have been to El Tucan multiple times, and the food never disappoints. However, the massive construction zone in the area makes it very difficult to get to the restaurant now. On this occasion, I had the Shrimp Quesadilla, which consists of shrimp, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, and cheese in a grilled quesadilla, and is served with rice, beans, guacamole, and sour cream for $7.99. The shrimp are small, but there is an adequate amount of them. Service was a lot slower than usual, but the food tasted fantastic and portion size was perfect, as usual. They also supply a TON of complimentary chips and mildly spicy salsa prior to the meal.

Fresh, Fresh, food and great great service. I've been coming here for years and just never sat down to write a review. I have traveled all over the world and within the states and I have always compared other Mexican restaurants to this one. There are two dishes that I would highly recommend; Quesadilla California (shrimp, eggs, beans, and cheese) and the synchronizada ( Mexican three layer sandwich). They have fresh guacamole, tasty cheese dip, and delicious horchata ( best I've ever tasted). The owner Arturo has been a constant sight ever since I started coming here and he is always welcoming to all patrons. The menu is full of great food and I have never had a bad dish. I would highly recommend making a stop to this non-traditional and non chain restaurant. Get a way from the speedy Gonzales and get something different.

The shrimp have NEVER been this small.

The shrimp have NEVER been this small. I've always loved coming here but when I let them know about the shrimp they acted as though they did not care and I was acting crazy. Then when I asked for the manager they said there is no manager and did nothing to accommodate me or my family. And now I'm forced to pay for meals that come out different each time they are prepared.

Have done take out from here 3 times in the short time we have lived in Fayetteville, and the food is amazing. Everything my wife and I have tried has been really delicious. Whatever you get definitely try the Pico, it is so fresh and flavorful, we always get extra and put it on everything. Can't really speak to the authenticity of the food but I can tell you it is very tasty and I plan on making this a regular stop.

People laughing at the bar. The food was the best in town. I remember that but it's been years since. We weren't warmly welcomed. It seems like the chef changes often because the quality is always shifting. The waitresses seem bothered by the presence of people. The waiter was kind last time, even with forgetting or putting something in wrong but he seemed to be the only one truly working with urgency or attentiveness. It felt like our waitress was avoiding us at all costs. She would take the order and leave in such a rush we couldn't ask for boxes, or drink refills or anything as if she would press a button that turned her ears off and speed her body away in the opposite direction of us. It was a strange interaction and I hate to say it but the way the world is right now, just take your business elsewhere. I'm not sure this location will last much longer if nothing changes.

First off walking inside reminds me of a small family business, which it is! It's nice to know and see the family working in the back. Gives it a home type of feeling. The restaurant smelt clean and the floors were not dirty either which is a big win to me. The service itself was very good, the lady helping us out was very nice and easy to accommodate our requests. For the food, I ordered the wrapped burrito. I liked it but I didn't love it. There was honestly way too much meat I forgot there was even supposed to be lettuce! I wish that I could have gotten a burrito with also rice and beans but I didn't this time. It would have made it even better. But it's better authentic Mexican food I've had in the area. My friend received the 3x taco combo, he as well thought it was okay. He could tell they seem to actually make their tortillas in house too! Which is a plus but it was quite dry to his liking. Even with the red and green sauce it was pretty good. Nothing to be concerned about but he would come back too. Overall good food, good ambience, great service, I think the portions was perfect, the pricing as well is very fair too. I will come back to try new things to see if this changes my views. I may need to just find the right item on the menu. (Tip for the menu, they may need to revise or condense because it's just a lot to be looking at.)

Three stars for the service, not for the food. The food was hands down amazing!! Super authentic,…read morefull of flavor, and so delicious! This started from the chips and dips up until our meal. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and my friends ordered these and some other tacos as well. They were so good that they did not require any additional toppings or salsa at all. Just so good! I had to stop myself from eating more than I needed to as I would not have been able to stand up. So, I stopped myself and got a box. But, I had to munch on a couple of chips and their green salsa, which had just the right amount of spice and heat that made you want to keep eating more and more. The drinks, well, let's just say we paid $16.99 for a margarita and got like $1 worth of alcohol. It was super watered down and just not that good. I was very disappointed especially after the hype of the margaritas from our server. Unfortunately you cannot get a refund or exchange on any alcohol according to the sign on their wall in Spanish and English ..so wrong in my opinion! So, the service--we were virtually ignored by our server. He NEVER came to check on us, NEVER refilled our waters, and just overall was so unattentive. I compare this to a table next to us that had 8 people and one server. They were attended to and treated so well. I felt like we were a burden to him. I still left him a decent tip, but I did not felt like my friends and I were treated decently and we felt that. So, nope will not return. There are tons of spots to get good food and good/attentive service.

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate Cinco de Mayo after hearing they were one of the best…read morespots in town, especially known for their great variety of fresh salsas. I ordered a house marg on the rocks with a salted rim, for starters. I should have gotten the blended marg as the rocks was pretty much straight mixer juice. If I'm going to drink a cold sugary drink with little alcohol content I'd rather it be like a slushee. We over looked the menu multiple times and both ended up getting the sizzling enchiladas as nothing else seemed to compare! We should have gotten one plate and split it since we pretty much filled up on the never ending chip basket trying to taste test all the salsas. Our favorite salsas were the brown California mild salsa and the creamy green lime salsa. The pico de gallo was very fresh and the pumpkin salsa was extremely unique, worth trying. The sizzling enchiladas came out steaming in a cast iron pan with a large portion of Spanish rice and a tiny portion of chopped lettuce with guac on top. Personally, I would have liked more lettuce and less rice. There were 3 loaded enchiladas with delicious, well cooked meats and cheese inside. Neither of us could finish all three plus the rice and chips. It was a spectacular meal, minus the not so great margarita and I would 100% come back for those enchiladas. The customer service was awesome, food came out quick and I loved the upbeat Spanish music out on the patio. Inside there are multiple TVs so I'm sure you could "catch the game" here. There's tons of parking and the location is very easy to find + central to Fayetteville area. I would say this is one of the best restaurants in town and some of the best Mexican I've had in NC. We'll be back.
