The atmosphere is quiet and almost eerie nowadays. I remember when the entire shared parking lot was full of cars and a line of people waiting to be seated. Music in the background. People laughing at the bar. The food was the best in town. I remember that but it's been years since. We weren't warmly welcomed. It seems like the chef changes often because the quality is always shifting. The waitresses seem bothered by the presence of people. The waiter was kind last time, even with forgetting or putting something in wrong but he seemed to be the only one truly working with urgency or attentiveness. It felt like our waitress was avoiding us at all costs. She would take the order and leave in such a rush we couldn't ask for boxes, or drink refills or anything as if she would press a button that turned her ears off and speed her body away in the opposite direction of us. It was a strange interaction and I hate to say it but the way the world is right now, just take your business elsewhere. Overall, customer service was amazing. Food was also very delicious. I got the tacos that came with beans and rice, which also have your traditional salsa as well as chips with dip. Mi Casita! Haven't had the pleasure of being in your presence for a few years, but nothing has changed meaning that everything has stayed so good! A few coworkers and I decided to visit here today for lunch and we were positively overwhelmed by the great service and delicious food! I decided to get the taco salad which was a little small, but packed full of flavor. It came topped with beans, lettuce, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. The flavors mixed together were just powerful and so good! I topped it with a little bit of their chipotle sauce that had just the right amount of heat to just slightly tickle my senses! My coworkers loved their food as well! All we could talk about was how stuffed we were because of the amazing food! Having a round of margaritas, sangria, and chips and salsa did not hurt either! The waiter checked on us regularly and they were practicing social distancing by spacing and wiping down every table after a group left. Almost a 4-star (still very much worth it!!). Summary: Mi C delivers on its roots as a casual-dining, family-style, and post-church fare. Mi C sticks to the basics and delivers a fair meal for just a little above-average prices. I break this review down into 2 parts. First the food itself and then the other (I can't stand when reviewers conflate the two). FOOD: Just take a look at the Steak Tampiquena. The thin ribeye extends over the plate gaudily. The onions and jalapeno slices arrayed on top continues to marinate that little ribeye as you stare in wonder. Quintessentially, the white Mexican cheese splatters in a melted form over the brown refried. Its neighbors (the Mexican Rice) deserves to mix in and join in on this party. They have a descent "hot salsa" (in addition to the regular salsa they perfunctorily serve us). Ask for it. Its a sweeter but SPICIER version of the regular salsa. That dark brown hot salsa isn't the best I've had (it always tastes different in restaurants) but it does the job. The Tampiquena itself had a special and expertly crafted taste. Just plainly delicious. The steak did not have hardly any bristle--speaking of its quality. Industry standard: they provide you 3 flour tortillas. You get to decide how you slice the steak and neighbors and assemble your tacos (which is what this amounts to but in a splendid and pleasing way). As to things OTHER THAN FOOD: The waitress was kind, smiling, and probably one of the nicest waitresses ever. They did not mess anything up and got it right the first time. They were apparently understaffed (blame it on the rain or blame it on covid). The understaffing most likely led to the bizarre encounter below: -A rude rando non-patron burst in and aggressively asked staff and myself for change for a $20--rapidly flashing a green bill of unknown denomination. The rando's grin revealed a confidence borne from routine. Conclusion: it would have been a 4 star If this review's criteria was simply about taste. The extra-food reasons above factored in with the only-food reasons giving Mi C a 3 star rating. read more

Only fair food and poor service. It was a Sunday night so maybe not fair, but here's how it went. Seated at the bar, the bartender came right over and got the shot of Cuervo I ordered. Then...disappeared. Eventually came back to take orders from the other fellow and the bar and me ... and got mine wrong. I wanted a simple chili relleno, which is just cheese inside a pepper, which is then dipped in egg batter and deep fried. This one came out with cheese and beef, and the waitress tried to explain that that's a typical relleno. No, it isn't. I grew up in Arizona and spent a number of years in California, and have eaten more chili rellenos than I can count. This one would number among the bad ones. Well, to be fair. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't a proper chili relleno. The beef tamale was pretty good, but the server forgot my tortillas and any silverware. If you know Mexican food, you want to avoid this place. This is a decent Mexican restaurant. The service was good and prompt. For starters, the salsa is pretty good. Has a little kick to it. I had the Laredo enchiladas, which were pretty good. I was amazed because it comes with 4 enchiladas: 2 chicken, 1 beef, and 1 pork. For the price, it's very good portions. I'm used to usually getting rice and refried beans with the meal, but you choose 1 side and you get an entire plate full of either rice or beans. I got the beans, but it's a lot. My friends got the rice and there were some over cooked chunks in it. Not impressed. There was nothing spectacular about this place, but it is decent for the price. And the fact that the food doesn't haunt you later is a notch above most Tex-Mex. read more

The chile relleno didn't really have poblano peppers (which is interesting be because I thought that a chile relleno was a stuffed poblano pepper). The molcajete (not sure about the spelling) was mediocre, because it consisted of old fried cheese, 3 measly pieces of short ribs, and shrimp. The shrimp was actually cooked nicely, but that didn't do justice for the rest of the plate. So, bottom-line is: "I've had better, but this'll do for now...". If that's okay with you, then I guess you and Mi Casita will get along fine. Meh. It's a tex-mex restaurant. Walked in and it has a cartooney feel to it. I did not feel like an adult in this place. The booths were small and kind of uncomfotable. Chips and salsa was a little lack luster. It was not spicy and chips were cold. My brother ordered the bean dip. All this dip was, was refried beans with cheese on top. He said it was just "okay". So what did I order? I braved the menu and ordered the fish tacos. The tamatoes were not fresh, so not fresh in fact they were mushy. The fish pieces was breaded and those were descent. The salsa that comes with them is listed as a "special" sauce. It was not indicated on the menu that it was spicy. It was very very spicy. If you are going to eat this dish be aware. The waiter changed shifts half way through our meal. The first one was great. The second waitress acted as if we were an inconvenience. Could we have just had a bad night? Sure. Am I coming back? He ate one before asking if he could swap out the chicken due to them closing soon they couldn't swap it out without him paying for both(almost 40 dollars) for 5 tacos he didn't like. I have eaten at this restaurant plenty of times and am not impressed. The bean and cheese burritos come with beans wrapped in an open end tortilla with cheese poured in the outside. Should have bean and cheese on inside in a closed.ended wrapped tortilla. The rice is not too great. The most recent visit I was served burnt rice that tasted like burnt popcorn. I was really disappointed. Taquitos came smashed, cracked, and flattened instead of rolled and fried. Definitely something they said screw the customer about. I won't be returning. I will stick with El Burrito, El Cazodore, and El Tucan for my Fayetteville choices. Eh... it's alright. You get a lot of food for the cost and the service was attentive. It didn't take long for our food to come out, either. I'm not a very picky eater, especially when it comes to Mexican food, but based on my one experience Mi Casita's a lot better at quantity than quality. I ordered my food at 10:30 on 31 of December it was a Togo order . I was the first order of the day, I placed an order for street tacos for me and my fiancé. Both of our tacos were cold and you could tell they used to meat from the day before. I called and they wanted to replace it I said no because it should be no reason your trying to give fresh food now, when we were the first customers of the day. Mi Casita is ok, but just ok. Quick Americanized Mexican food. The salsa bar is a nice feature and they usually have a number of choices on it. Fajitas are good, as are tacos (tacos a la diablo are my fav). Their horchata isn't the best. The Spring Lake location can get quite busy with people coming over from Ft.Bragg to eat and sometimes it's a little on the dingy side. Portions are big and they're generally quick, some servers are clearly better than others. No matter what time of day you go there are likely to be some kids running around making noise, but that's how it goes with a family oriented joint. read more
