Three stars for the service, not for the food. The food was hands down amazing!! Super authentic, full of flavor, and so delicious! This started from the chips and dips up until our meal. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and my friends ordered these and some other tacos as well. They were so good that they did not require any additional toppings or salsa at all. Just so good! I had to stop myself from eating more than I needed to as I would not have been able to stand up. So, I stopped myself and got a box. But, I had to munch on a couple of chips and their green salsa, which had just the right amount of spice and heat that made you want to keep eating more and more. The drinks, well, let's just say we paid $16.99 for a margarita and got like $1 worth of alcohol. It was super watered down and just not that good. I was very disappointed especially after the hype of the margaritas from our server. Unfortunately you cannot get a refund or exchange on any alcohol according to the sign on their wall in Spanish and English ..so wrong in my opinion! So, the service--we were virtually ignored by our server. He NEVER came to check on us, NEVER refilled our waters, and just overall was so unattentive. I compare this to a table next to us that had 8 people and one server. They were attended to and treated so well. I felt like we were a burden to him. I still left him a decent tip, but I did not felt like my friends and I were treated decently and we felt that. So, nope will not return. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate Cinco de Mayo after hearing they were one of the best spots in town, especially known for their great variety of fresh salsas. I ordered a house marg on the rocks with a salted rim, for starters. I should have gotten the blended marg as the rocks was pretty much straight mixer juice. If I'm going to drink a cold sugary drink with little alcohol content I'd rather it be like a slushee. We over looked the menu multiple times and both ended up getting the sizzling enchiladas as nothing else seemed to compare! We should have gotten one plate and split it since we pretty much filled up on the never ending chip basket trying to taste test all the salsas. Our favorite salsas were the brown California mild salsa and the creamy green lime salsa. The pico de gallo was very fresh and the pumpkin salsa was extremely unique, worth trying. The sizzling enchiladas came out steaming in a cast iron pan with a large portion of Spanish rice and a tiny portion of chopped lettuce with guac on top. Personally, I would have liked more lettuce and less rice. There were 3 loaded enchiladas with delicious, well cooked meats and cheese inside. Neither of us could finish all three plus the rice and chips. It was a spectacular meal, minus the not so great margarita and I would 100% come back for those enchiladas. The customer service was awesome, food came out quick and I loved the upbeat Spanish music out on the patio. Inside there are multiple TVs so I'm sure you could "catch the game" here. There's tons of parking and the location is very easy to find + central to Fayetteville area. I would say this is one of the best restaurants in town and some of the best Mexican I've had in NC. I highly suspect there was no alcohol in it at all. 24$ for one margarita with no taste of tequila. That's just insane. No wonder there are signs about no refund on alcohol. After a long road trip, my boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food and accidentally ended up going to the wrong Salsa's and Beer location. This one happened to be closer to us at the time, according to GPS. This is a fairly new place. However, we prefer the one at Skyland Shopping Plaza in Spring Lake. Just like the other location, you will receive complimentary tortilla chips that you can dip in a variety of salsas that range in spiciness level. Our waitress even gave us two baskets of chips, though we didn't ask or want a second basket.....I had the Spinach Enchiladas, which consisted of sauteed spinach, pico de gallo, melted Monterrey Jack cheese, and fire roasted tomatillo sauce, served with frijoles de la olla, sour cream, guacamole, and rice for $8.50. It was a great portion and great taste. The visit would have been great overall, if the staff had not been so busy casually chatting in plain sight that they paid no attention to us when we were trying to request our bill. Our first visit, I wasn't sure what to expect. We got just that, it was empty the service was fast if you consider that we were trying to sit down and the waitress was asking what would like to drink. We were like can we sit down first. The waitress offered a margarita in a large bowl but we ended up getting the drinks in a cup. She told us that they only 3 glasses and they are dirty. A restaurant with only 3 glasses wow. My bf and I went on a Friday for lunch. It was super dead, we were sat immediately and had a lovely waitress! She was super great! Only complaints were the food wasn't that great compared to other restaurants we go to (but the food was hot and fast - so that was a plus), and when we were all ready to go it took 15-20 minutes to find an employee who wasn't in the back to ask for our check. Also, mixed drinks can be made but you have to ask - the piña colada margarita was OK at best, but El Cazador definitely has the best! Decently priced, just not our favorite! read more

I like this place. They have a nice outdoor patio/bar area. It's freezing now. There is a heater, but apparently the plastic coverings they had were stolen. Not sure if there is a plan to replace them or not, but they have been gone a good amount of time. The food (enchilada) and their salsa was outstanding. I love the spicy salsa and chips. Keep in mind, I'm a Cali girl who has lived in the Bay Area and LA, which means I've had authentic and kick ass Mexican food at cheap prices. There were about 6-8 types of salsa. Unfortunately, none of them were pico de gallo, which I prefer, because it's fresh tomatoes, cilantro, and onion. FYI- the salsa bar is self service. Good variety on their menu. Tortilla chips aren't very greasy. Definitely a plus. Service is good and friendly. Our waiter was nice enough to give my boyfriend some recommendations. Bf was happy with the choice, but it wasn't spicy enough because they ran out of habaneros. Good portions. Cons Didn't see black beans on the menu. Sorry, I think that's my Cali sensibilities kickin' in. My steak in the fajitas was thin. I'm used to good chunks of meat for any kind of Mexican meat dish. Horchata hadn't been made and they said they ran out of habaneros. There are certain things a Mexican restaurant should have on hand at all times, so this was disappointing. Yesterday my fiancé and I went to salsa and beer for dinner, the waitress was lovely, but we left feeling a little sick to our stomachs. We ignore it, and then about 30 minutes after leaving my fiancé starts experiencing stomach pains followed by vomiting and diarrhea, an hour or so later, I experience the same symptoms. After 8 hours of vomiting and painful shakes and diarrhea, we both get admitted to the hospital for food poisoning and dehydration. My mother then calls the restaurant and they called us LIARS and told us they would not refund the money we spent. I didn't even want my money back, I was more upset I lost an entire day of work on the account of the poor sanitation and cross contamination. Avoid this rude and unsanitary restaurant at all costs. This used to be my fav Mexican restaurant until about 6 months ago. The wait staff used to all be friendly, the food was great and always exactly as I ordered it. Now everytime I come in, the food is either cold, stale, or not how I ordered it, and when I mentioned it to my waitress tonight, she tried arguing with me about it. My friends tortilla was stale and another waitress came out saying, and I quote "The boss says sorry about the food." As far as Mexican restaurants go, salsa and beers is decent. Nothing really makes them stand out compared to their competitors aside from their salsa bar which I wish was labeled. I'm not complaining too much about it as I have no issue trying out all the different salsas but it would be nice to know at least the heat level to make my selection easier. I wasn't feeling too hungry so my sister I decided to order the cheese dip and share the fajita chicken quesadilla appetizer. I was surprised by the serving size of the quesadilla appetizer, it was huge! It turned out to be the perfect size for the both of us and tasted delicious. The ingredients tasted great, however it was a bit more greasy than I'm used to; still tasty but wish there was a bit less grease. I liked that the chips for the table came with a bean dip, it's nice to change things up from the usual chips and salsa. Their queso cheese dip was pretty standard, not as hot and runny as I like but it's cheese so I'm not complaining. Our server was quick in terms of getting our food out and very attentive. With reasonable prices and their salsa bar, I'll definitely be back but there's not much that sets this place apart from their competitors. Best Mexican place I've been to in the 15+ years I've lived here. After discovering it last year I try to come at least once a month. They have a good salsa bar, the Spicy Lime is top notch. For entrees I always get the Shrimp Mazatlan Enchiladas. I always consider trying something else but I just love these so much and don't deviate. When they bring out the chips they bring out bean dip which is different from a lot of the other local places. No complaints. This location is so convenient, I bring friends, clients, and my husband here. The patio makes this location great. They never seem to have Corona Light, that would be the one thing I would change.
