This was thinner and more watery and Mexican chocolate has a cinnamon flavor to it. It was good but not great. And 87 pesos. Next we were offered bread I chose the concha. It was still warm and so soft. Easily the best concha I've had. Be aware that it's not free. They had other selections, the one my friend got was savory so I didn't care for that one as much. For breakfast I chose the scrambled eggs with longaniza 180 pesos. The portion was konda small and the longaniza was cut up and mixed into the eggs. I thought it would be whole sausages on the plate. It came with a small portion of refried beans. I guess it was a fair portion for about $10 US. The place is pretty nice and fancy so it's a nice change from the street stands and casual eateries. Though you do pay more in comparison. Overall I thought the food was ok. But it was nice to have a fancy sit down restaurant and have fabulous service. This restaurant is located in Centro Historico-just a few blocks from Zocalo.Its location is a very busy touristy part of Mexico City. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait,but once we walked in it was obvious why as it was truly a work of art in there. The walls were adorned with amazing paintings and murals and interior designs elements that transported you back to Mexico in the 1950s and earlier. It was gorgeous. I don't want to call it a fancy place with all the stigma that sometimes represents but it was a fancy place without all the stuffiness of a fancy place. It was a very warm and welcoming place to dine at. There was a lady walking around with a platter full of conchas and churros that one could indulge in while waiting their main meal. I had to get a churro-it was so delicious. We also got chicken tortilla soup-it was so rich and tasty with the perfect blend of Mexican seasonings. This is a fine dining experience and it is really cool to be able to watch the kitchen and chef at work from your table. I can highly recommend the Guac- love the little touch of pomegranate and the variety of chips to dip, the chicken lime soup was a hit with our 1.5 year old, the beet salad was delicious and the sea bass cooked to perfection. For mothers day I treated myself to a house margarita and it was delish. We also tried not one but two desserts this time, the chocolate cake with ice cream and the soursop jelly, both divine! I was excited having just learned about the soursop fruit, and how many nutritional benefits there are- make sure you give it a try if you're into pudding desserts. The next time we tried some of the same things and some new things- steak, roasted chicken, cauliflower with mole sauce (the mole sauce here was perfection) mushroom soup and the house lemonade. All fantastic, and the presentation is wonderful. We ended the evening with the hot chocolate cake which was the perfect balance of chocolate paired with ice cream- note that this dessert does take some time to prepare fresh.
