This place is cute, I enjoyed my meal here with friends. Some items were better than others but now that I know what I like I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town so I can reorder. First, kudos to the customer service. The waiter was patient with our bad Spanish and was very attentive with checking on us and providing refills. That goes to my second kudos: the orange salsa. It is delicious and addicting and I wish they packaged it and sold it! Our table had at least three "refills" of it because it was so delicious ! Now to the food: the favorite was the ceviche de coliflor, it was so good! Our table also had the guacamole, the aroma de cebolla, tacos no fish, enchiladas rojas, flautas de Jamaica, tortilla soup, the torta ahogada, and the detox drink. This place hands down made the best food I've had! My favorite was the quinoa ceviche and taquitos. But the entire menu is delicious. We tend to not like going to the same restaurant more than once when traveling, but El Vegano was well worth the extra trip. I wish I took pictures of my food but this place makes such amazing food, you can't wait to eat it. The location of this little restaurant is surrounded by other vendors and a little farmers market outside. This place is dog friendly! The service was incredible and let me tell you about the flautas de Jamaica...YUM. The tacos weren't unpleasantly greasy they where crispy and packed with flavors. They do NOT skimp on the avocado either which was my favorite part lol. Jamaica is the hibiscus flower most people know to be used in flavored teas and other drinks. WELP El Vegano's chef knows how to make this amazing little flower taste meaty! If you're in town make a trip to El Vegano for some great food, great prices and even greater service. Service is great. The location is a modern/hip take on traditional Mexican dining. Ordered a torta haugada, traditional dish of Guadalajara, it was not bad considering that I haven't had one in over a year. Wouldn't say it was great either. Almost forgot that the dish came with two tacos dorados that were stuffed with jamaica flowers, they were delicious and the sauce along with hot sauce paired very nicely. I enjoyed the tacos more than the torta. The spaghetti and meatballs were odd. The meatballs were too dry and the flavors weren't what one expects with spaghetti and meatballs. Personally my least favorite of the night. Green juice was amazing! The size of the large option was enough to fill my glass and my sweetheart's. My skin was glowing the next morning. We came in here with two vegans and two non vegans. This place had someone for everyone, including someone allergic to soy and nuts and myself oil free. The coctel was delicious and the drinks are freshly made, you have the options to skip the added sugar! Coming back next time I'm in town. read more

El Vegano is great. I recommend going earlier in the day--we went for dinner and they were out of a few items. We for the tempura and cannolis and they were both amazing. El Vegano is closed on Tuesday, so if you come on a Tuesday check out Napolitan, the Italian place two places down. They have vegan calzones, which are also amazing! read more

I planned to go there, so I called before going there, they told me they close at 10 pm. So I called an uber as I live a bit far from there. But what was my surprise that when I got there the place was being cleaned up. "We close at 9," they said; we told them about the call and what they told us and the guy that was there just said, "must have been my business partner." I traveled all the way there, about 30 min drive, just to see people cleaning the place. It was quite disappointing, honestly, but being treated with that lack of interest from one of the owners was even worst. I am a customer, and we -customers- pay for not only food but service and attention. So if you are hoping for a nice place, keep looking, there are better options really close by. read more

Show up early enough (before 11 am) to get the torta. It will legit change your life. I ate here twice while staying in Guadalajara and can't remember what all I ate but it was all incredible. Just make sure to ask the dude at the counter what their specials of the day are and order those.
