This place came highly recommended and was conveniently located for my Guadalajara stay. Service was top-notch: fast, friendly and attentive. Chips and salsa brought to your table while you wait for your meal. Great vegan Mexican food, beautifully presented. Covered outdoor seating only, very popular, fills up fast.

Enmoladas and potatoe chickpeas for tacos

We are visiting from California and struggling to find vegan food until we discovered La Flaca. The restaurant has good service and excellent vegan Mexican food. You can mix and match fillings to your preference. We got tacos with potatoes and also with beans both were great. The ahogdas was great and we swapped the filling for tofu. We also ate the enmoladas was excellent too. None of the food was too spicy but flavorful. The drinks were good too.

I left my hotel and started the 35 minute walk to La Flaca. I was a straight walk and canvassed several small neighborhoods. As I turned the corner, I saw an over abundance of greenery and knew La Flaca was near. I walked up a couple of stairs and left the concrete jungle of Guadalajara and entered a small restaurant that seemed like it was deep in thr Costa Rican jungle. I truly felt a million miles away from everything and everyone. It was soul cleansing to take a break from all of it. The server came over and informed me of the online menu and offered me some chips and salsa I already knew that I wanted the torta ahogada. For some perspective, the torta ahogada is a very popular dish in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Most restaurants have it on their menu and it traditional comes with meat. This version at La Flaca takes the same dish packed with its savory spices and drench roll but instead of meat has mushrooms. The complementary chips and salsa were good. The salsas are not spicy by my standards but that's ok as they did have flavor. My preference was the smokey brown salsa in lieu of the green. The torta arrived and really took the time to savor the juices and sauce from all angles. Please do that as you will appreciate the meal through every bite. Make sure not to eat all the bread right away, you'll need it to mop out the sauce and spices on the plate. There's nothing that I would add to this dish. It's simply heaven. The server brought me over another salsa promising it was spicier. He was right but my wife is the ultimate salsa maker and while this one was good and slightly spicier, it holds no candle to my wife's salsa. The server did recommend the guacamole. It's good not great. It needs onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and tomatoes. For 40 pesos ~ 2 bucks, just get it. Yeah that's right $2 USD It was a magical meal in a magical place. In total I pad 145 pesos ~ $7.50 USD for the torta, guacamole and a beer. The question is why is this meal in the United States double to triple the price? I'll be thinking about retiring and returning to the la Flaca for more eats and treats. Yes. They have vegan donuts. Til the next time. Gracias. Excelente

I ordered delivery from La Flaca, so forgive the presentation of the food. I'm sure it would be a lot better in the actual restaurant, however it didn't make much of an impact because the food was so delicious! I started with the taco because it was the smaller of the two main dishes I got. The filling was well seasoned and the salsa it came with was spicy and flavorful. It was very messy, so I would have liked it to be a little better encapsulated within the tortilla. But again- flavor is key. Next, I dug into the alitas. They were fairly simple - breaded floretes of cauliflower - but each florete was HUGE and they remained in tact so well when bitten. Plus there were so many of them I must have eaten an entire head of cauliflower myself! They paired really well with the barbecue sauce. Admittedly, I could have just gotten that one dish and been full, but I'm glad I got a variety. I finished the meal with the vegansito - a chocolate dipped Twinkie with cream and jam filling. It was an even combination of sweet and decadent, but light and just the right size. If it were any bigger I would have been sick of it before finishing. I probably wouldn't get it again because it had a very processed, convenience store snack type taste, but it wasn't bad if you need just a little something sweet to end your meal.

Dude, there's no words to describe the joy I felt when I laid eyes on their menu. Birria, barbacoa, chorizo, freaking Pozole ALL VEGAN? Christ on a cracker, all the yes forever. Their place is small but their menu makes up for it. All of their food is like a dream come true for us mexican vegans who are left to eat nothing but rice and beans at family gatherings outside of our homes and most restaurants. Food was delicious, service was super friendly and price was very very good as well. I'm really excited to come back and eat here!

Fantastic food and service. My husband and I shared the torta ahogada and four tacos and loved almost everything. The birria taco wasn't as flavorful as the fetid the dishes but we still liked it. It's a small, open-air place with a casual, comfortable feel, but the limited seating meant we waited 45 minutes for a table at 5 on a Sunday. It was worth it.

Amazing food best Vegan you could hope for. My wife is vegetarian so we went looking and wow this did not disappoint. We got the enchallatas and the posole and the torta ahogada. All were fantastic. The flavors and the freshness were as good as any restaurant we had in Guadalajara. Service was great beer was cold prices were fantastic. Also their pup was friendly and greeted us as we came in bonus points for that. Will come back for more. 10/10

The food was really good. The staff was friendly and the place was quite accommodating for being so small. We shared two dishes and couldn't finish them both - and I eat a lot. I couldn't believe how great the torta ahogada was. Perfect flavor and texture. You wouldn't miss the pork at all. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

A lot of traditional Mexican dishes--but vegan. The barbecoa de Berenjena sopes were awesome. And the Asada de Soya tacos were great too. But definitely get some sopes. There were many other things I wanted to try on the menu. Nice, friendly and accommodating staff. This is kind of a semi-outdoor patio type establishment. But since it was hot as hell the breeze was nice. It's located right off of Chapultepec, so great location with plenty to see after your meal.

Food Review: Los Chilaquiles - Guadalajara, Jalisco…read more On my recent visit to Los Chilaquiles, located right in the heart of Guadalajara, I arrived a bit past the traditional breakfast hour, but I was seriously craving some good huevos rancheros and a comforting café de olla. Thankfully, both absolutely hit the spot. Café de olla is a classic Mexican coffee traditionally brewed in a clay pot (olla), infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo--a deep, rich unrefined cane sugar. The result is a warm, aromatic, slightly spiced cup that feels like a hug from Mexico itself. Their version was delicious. To complement it, they offered me conchas con nata, which was such a treat. Conchas are iconic Mexican sweet breads known for their soft, airy interior and crunchy shell-like topping. Nata is the thick, silky cream that forms when fresh milk is gently simmered--rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading. Together, it's a simple but heavenly pairing. Right away, I noticed that the atmosphere of the place feels warm and inviting--relaxed, friendly, and full of that authentic Guadalajara charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly: attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. They started me off with a trio of homemade salsas, along with Mexican crema, queso cotija, and a crunchy homemade tostadita. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtful. As I looked around, I even noticed photos of well-known personalities who have visited, which makes sense--the food and experience truly stand out. Overall, Los Chilaquiles delivered amazing flavors, excellent service, a great atmosphere, and that authentic touch that makes breakfast in Guadalajara unforgettable. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

It has always delivered a great experience, but unfortunately, today was a disappointment. Our group of four ordered the following: * Panela asada: Excellent. * Empanadas: Excellent. * Churrasco: Very disappointing. The quality of the meat was poor, with too many nerves that made it hard to cut and chew. * Chinchulines: Excellent. * Milanesa: A letdown. The steak was paper-thin, overly dry (reminiscent of beef jerky), and the underside was burnt, making it even harder to cut. We had to request a steak knife to get through it. * Chicken: Excellent. * Desserts: Excellent. The total bill came to $2,900 MXN (about $145 USD) plus tip. By Mexican standards, this is considered a high-end meal, but the quality of certain dishes did not live up to the price. While the restaurant has been a favorite of mine in the past, based on this recent experience, I cannot recommend it.
