    The Madison River at sunset

Quaint, clean, convenient location with nostalgic charm! We enjoyed our stay here over the Labor Day weekend. The bed was comfy and we were glad to have the kitchenette for cooking. They were kind enough to loan us a charcoal grill. Just around the corner to town where we enjoyed the Fly Fishermen's Festival, did a little shopping, and chatted with the locals. Also close to two different fishing access areas. We would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay. We had a Superior creekside cabin which was spacious, very clean and with a well equipped kitchen. Nice owners, beautiful property. They delivered a charcoal BBQ to our cabin for us to use one evening, a very appreciated option. Having another picnic table or two closer to the cabin front patios could be helpful, but this was not a problem as we travel with a folding table, just a note for consideration. Good wifi connection. Would stay again.

Easily the best hotel in this area. Picture perfect lawns, beautiful flowers, active wild lives (owls, deer, moose) and great fishing all right there. It's a fantastic place to relax and have your retreat

What a great experience at this friendly, cabin oriented family run hotel... I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay, and would return for another stay without hesitation if the opportunity allows.. Fantastic location with incredible mountain scenery and back drop.. One hour drive from the hotel to Yellowstone, which offers extremely enjoyable and outstanding scenic travel..

Lovely people, clean quaint room, and a view to die for. Make sure when coming from Billings or Helena, you drive through Ennis.. Over the river, on your right. These folks are very concise, and meticulous. One can walk to the river, and the landscape is wonderful. Pride of ownership shows here

The food was great and the service across the board was exemplary. And needless to say the fishing experience was topline with super experienced guides David Kern and Isaac Corman. The true test of an experience, however, comes when one sees how management deals with an issue. Our issue was that the air conditioning broke and the first night the room was unbearably hot. They had an AC team come in and although they couldn't fix the unit while we were there, they had a portable unit installed to take care of the immediate issue. And more importantly, Manu, the manager, worked to reach an acceptable arrangement to cover our discomfort. Overall - I would definitely return and recommend for others to come see what they have to offer.

But not did I learn how to cast a fly (and land a Trout!), but my visit to Madison Valley Ranch ended up being one of the best trips I've ever taken. From the moment you walk in the door, the ranch rolls out the red carpet. After being welcomed with a cold draft beer and tour of the property, we settled into our very comfortable guest rooms to unwind before dinner. Whether you plan to fly fish or not, the entire ranch is designed to make you feel at ease, and at home -- from the incredible back porch views to the outrageously good dishes served up at every meal. Manu and her team take customer service to a new level, from equipping you for an incredible day on the river to selecting the perfect bottle of Cabernet to pair with your dinner. No detail is too small for them, and no request goes unmet. The accommodations are as comfortable as any 4-star hotel, the meals as delicious as any gourmet restaurant, and the views as beautiful as a slice of heaven. And with ample meeting space for corporate groups, its the perfect setting for a team-building escape. I simply can't say enough about Madison Valley Ranch -- whether you're an experienced fisherman or just learning to cast a fly, it's hard to imagine a better place in America to put your rod into the river.

They provided excellent instruction and took us through varied terrain. Our horses were the best! After riding the open valley we ascended up a creek trail and had a nice lunch up high. A few days later we did a full-day of guided fishing on the Ruby. So glad we did! We learned so much from Isaac and Ben. Landed at least 10 apiece. Massive browns, a few rainbows and whitefish and man did they fight! Lost a few big ones too! These guys were such experts. They were great coaches and fine gentlemen. UCO is first class in our book!

The Super 8 in Livingston, 54 miles from the north entrance at Gardiner, offered a room for $114. And those are the cheap end. I kept looking and found Lure Me Inn in Ennis, Mont. Sure, it's 70 miles from Yellowstone (an hour north on a highway with a 70-mile-an-hour speed limit). It's a beautiful drive that takes you past Quake Lake, formed in 1959 when a magnitude 7.5 earthquake dumped 80 million tons of rock into the Madison River and formed the lake. The Madison is a renowned fly-fishing stream for rainbow trout. The rate for a cabin with one bed was $75. I believe the cabins with two beds went for $89. The open room includes the bed, a dining table, a two-burner stove, refrigerator and microwave. Dishes, utensils and pots and pans were also supplied. There was also wireless Internet and DISH network television. The separate bathroom included a combination tub and shower. There was also a sitting bench and plenty of towels.
