The Summit is in a can't-be-beat location, right at the bottom of the ski slopes at one of the best ski resorts in the world. So, it's definitely got that going for it. It also has a huge jacuzzi out front over-looking the runs/mountain, which is great for an apres ski soak. The bar is pretty cool, and the restaurant is decent. It seems most the complaints are based on what you get for the price - and it definitely is pricey. I think their advertising of the Summit as "elegant" is a bit of a stretch. Maybe do some major overhaul updates and market it as "upscale mountain." They have some activities daily, depending on the season. The three of us played Bingo with Valerie one night (she was great; super friendly, and we all won! (Helped that we were the only 3 there to play). We took our prize money (a $5 Big Sky gift card), and splurged on lattes and mochas at the Mountain Mall. Good times! read more

The staff makes this place! They are attentive, friendly, and put in the effort to get to know their guests over the course of their stays. Whether it's remembering your name and greeting you enthusiastically, learning about where you're from, or taking note of dietary restrictions, they make you feel CARED for. We didn't have a bad meal our entire trip (and we ate a lot!). The rooms are clean and the outdoor hot tub was lovely. We loved that there is a fireplace and couch in the lobby right by the exit to go skiing. Some of our family members weren't skiing, so this gave them a "home base" at which to hang out. Other skiing/boarding family members could easily regroup there. This hotel was perfect for us! read more

Got a "surprise upgrade" to here from the Huntley. Well, I was here for a conference at the Huntley, so now I need to walk through zero degree weather to get to my meeting room. Make sure you realize that check in time is at 5pm, so if you don't enjoy camping in a freezing hotel lobby for 4 hours, you're screwed if you take the only direct flight from LA which leaves at 8am. They, of course won't give you any update on when your room might be ready. Housekeeping doesn't give them any updates. Ummmmm, then how do you know when the rooms are ready so that they can put people in rooms. Edit: when I got to my "surprise upgrade" King Mountain View room, it has two queens. So, on top of the terrible service, they are also complete liars. The manager asked if she could do anything for me, I replied, I don't know, is there anything? She said, "I don't know, but if you think of anything, let me know. So, if you really need to ski at Big Sky, I guess you need to stay here. If you want to come for any other purpose, just don't. read more

This review is for the restaurant. I am not the type of person to leave one star, but when taken as a whole- price, food, and service, This is the worst restaurant I've been to (no exaggeration... actually the worst). The waitress was nice, however when I told her I needed one more minute to look at the menu, she left for around 10. I think she was doing side work and I can understand that those distractions happen. The food however, kind of unforgivable. There are 5 main entrees & the menu is one of the smallest menus I have ever seen. I ordered the ramen noodle and it was $23 FOR RAMEN noodles. It had over cooked and uncleaned shrimp. Don't even get me started on the noodle part, I think they were actually spaghetti noodles. People, I am quite serious about my noodles and this "resort restaurant" made me fork out $23 dollars for spaghetti noodles cooked in weird soup broth. I would have taken a packet of 60 cent Maruchan Ramen over that spaghetti any day. My date got the poke "nachos" which consisted of 6 chips overloaded with mayonnaise-based sauce. We were grossed out by those as well. If they messed up on ramen and nachos, I don't want to know how the other dishes tasted. On a good note, the bartender was very pleasant when I went there later in the evening. But that's it. I would never eat here again. read more

Awful! We stayed three days at the saddle ridge for $1400 (which was fair but booked a year in advance) but missed our flight home. So we tried to extend our stay and got absolutely gouged for $900 (before fees) for ONE NIGHT. Then with a seemingly empty hotel were forced mill about the shops and restaurants until 5PM to check in because our room was being cleaned although we were told to be TOP PRIORITY. Apon checkout we get fraudulently charged a smoking fee for our room THAT WAS NEVER SMOKED IN For yet ANOTHER $250!!! took GM and complete jerk Chuck Donch 3 days of ignoring my calls and not answering messages to OPENLY LAUGH at my demise for exoneration! WHAT A DATED AND OVERPRICED DUMP There is nothing summit here but the price. Aged and desperately in need of redo owner owned studios with Murphy beds and used furniture make up where you stay. Rooms are bright and light by candlelight only. Housekeeping is very light. Employees, but for the supervisors, move at snail's pace. They don't call it Montana time for nothing. The advertised outdoor pool is a jacuzzi teeming with kids. The resort charges a 3% tax on everything, despite there being no tax in Montana. The "resort" (Quotes are intentional.) is a total ripoff oversold by their telephone sales department. read more

My husband and I just visited Big Sky for our first time skiing out west. We were originally booked at the Whitewater Inn without realizing that it wasn't located right at the base of the mountain. On our first day there, we decided to check and see if The Summit had any availability to have better proximity to the mountain. We were greeted by Sarah at the front desk who was so friendly, helpful, and positive in our effort to change our room reservation. Even though the hotel was nearly all booked up (one of the busiest weekends of the season), Sarah worked hard and was able to change our reservation from the Whitewater to the Summit. We are so grateful for her as you could not beat the location, the delicious breakfast (included with stay), and the clean/well kept facilities! Nic, also a front desk employee, was a HUGE help with navigating the mountain. He took plenty of time to map out specific ski areas he thought were the best and even highlighted them for us on a trail map. He was extremely knowledgeable, had great energy, and was enthusiastic about his job. We ended up skiing the Moonlight area he recommended for six hours straight and it was definitely the best skiing we have ever experienced! We can't say enough about how enjoyable our experience was at The Summit and we will definitely be back! We stayed during July and had a great experience. The staff was very welcoming and upgraded us to a bigger room with a better view. Surprisingly, the murphy bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was served a little cold, but we left each morning to explore with full bellies. The mountain was amazing and all the young adults running the activities were great to us, especially to my 8 year old daughter!! We enjoyed talking to them about their hometowns and experiences working on the mountain. We can't wait to go back. read more

This is probably my favorite Ski Resort Hotel. The customer service is great, the staff is very helpful, and the room I'm in, has a good kitchen, sadly, no bedrooms, but, there are two beds one that you have to pull down, and another bed that is built into the couch. The Ski Valet is great, also, the front lobby is beautiful especially during winter, because, there is a huge, yet beautiful Christmas tree, and the Deer Head Chandelier is amazingly elegant yet, beautiful! Then, the hotel is very close to a large amount of restaurants and other needs. If you ever want to ski at Big Sky, this is the hotel to stay at! read more

Very very expensive room and very very shabby! What a dive! Every piece of furniture is dinged and scratched. Carpet has wrinkles in it. Upholstered chairs are scary. Leftover food in the refrigerator. Dirty toilet. Yet they're charging $850 per night. Unbelievable. We'll never be back even if they remodel. We requested king bed but only got a queen in the dark dark bedroom. Tiny little tvs. Weird layout in suite. It took almost 30 minutes to check in & we didn't get the room we wanted. As we were leaving the bellman didn't even help with my bags and my hands were completely full. Never never again will we stay here. They should be embarrassed for what they're trying to pull off here! read more

The location of the hotel is amazing for getting right on the mountain. I did enjoy the included breakfast/brunch. I feel that they room are a fairly good size. I would just say that the food otherwise at the restaurants in the hotel is very expensive. I do understand that it is a mountain and harder to transport food. The ski valet people were so friendly and always wanted to walk your skis to you. I would also say that the workout facility was fairly good. I feel that the outdoor pool should have been a bit warmer for being outdoors. read more

Ideally located at the base of the mountain, a well appointed hotel.... just as long as there are the bare minimum number of guests. Let's start by saying this is THE premier lodging at Big Sky. It certainly is NOT CHEAP. In fact, it is expensive. Very very expensive. So when you pay that money, you expect the reciprocal high level of service. THINK AGAIN. They have a very large outdoor pool / massive Jacuzzi. They serve drinks at this site, so you might expect it is adult oriented. And when you come down to this place, you see everyone in robes. That might make YOU think that YOU can have a robe too? THINK AGAIN. I asked for robes every day of my 4 day stay. Number of robes for me and my guests..... ZERO. Their answer? We have so many guests and not enough robes. How on earth is this my problem? Pay $17 for a hamburger? Fine. Pay $13 for a cocktail? Fine. Pay $30 A DAY to park you car? Fine. I guess booking at a room at their most luxurious and MOST EXPENSIVE hotel doesn't qualify you for a robe. How about your bags? You think maybe those belong in your room? THINK AGAIN. You will get your bags when Big Sky wants you to have your bags. It took three phone calls (and having a bellhop threaten me) to finally get my bags. I would hate to see how they treat people in the less expensive rooms. Sadly, at Big Sky, you really only have one choice. It's their property or sleep in your car. read more

I have gone to this hotel for skiing twice. I have experienced exceptional service from the staff and have had a great experience with the kitchen in the well priced suite we have stayed in. The location is exceptional too. With just a few foot walk from multiple ski lifts you can jot ask for better convenience. Especially due to the additional ski valet. I wish I would have checked these reviews first. We paid the extra to stay here and I wish we wouldn't have. The front desk staff was flat out rude. The food was expensive and only ok. The hotel was basically empty but we were given a room with a view of construction. Then when we asked for late check out we were told someone was coming into our room. We are maybe one of 20 people we have seen here at a hotel that holds hundreds. Save your money and stay somewhere else At Big Sky. read more

Since my review I have spoken with Management at the Summit resort in Big Sky. My opinion is the mark of a great organization is how they deal with a problem. The Ownership and Management at the Summit got back in touch with me having to do with my problem within a day, they gathered more information and took care of the problem.
