I should have listened to her when she told me they 'forgot' to start the movie/previews until 20 minutes after it was supposed to start and the screen developed a dark frame and glitches before completely going black on them, forcing them to leave without finishing their movie. We went to see Moana and left 30 minutes in. Once the movie actually started, another lady sitting in the audience had to go tell them to turn the room lights off. I was really hoping that was the problem but it wasn't. The lighting of the movie was horrible, dark and unable to see detail in the movie, let alone tell people apart. I went to the front and asked them to look at and try to fix the lighting and definition but after another 10 minutes, nothing changed. that's when we decided to leave. We still want to watch the movie but not wasting the excitement of a new movie in dull color. I asked to talk to the manager and made sure I stood off to the side, not to involve the line of people waiting to buy tickets. The manager would not refund my money. He told me that the movie was fine and the same quality/color we'll see at another theater or on DVD. Moana is on an island, lots of water, lots of color...not at Republic Theater in Bellefontaine. I'm not one to write complaints but I want people to know what they are getting into when going to this location.

I would normally give this location 5 stars, but this morning when I arrived at the theater for an…read more11:30 showing that I had paid for in advance, there were about 15 people standing outside that told me there was no one there and all the doors were locked. So we gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited as another 20 or so people joined us or sat in their cars waiting. Several of us tried to call the theater and didn't even get a recorded message. Some called headquarters in Texas and of course all they could do was look into the matter. Quite a few of us had driven from other towns and would not be able to return for a showing later in the day. I suggest that when they are going to cancel a showing, they at least leave a message on their main number in Piqua and have someone post a sign on the outer doors so people don't just stand there feeling angry or frustrated because the WANT to see that movie. This was Part 3 of THE CHOSEN.

The seats are old school, and not horribly uncomfortable but also not amazing leather recliners and loveseats like so many theaters have these days. Walking into this theater and sitting down is like being transported to 2003, which can be fun in its own right. The colors are vibrant, the theater design is liminal and old-school. I actually really like the vibes here. I just wonder why Regal doesn't seem interested in upgrading this theater. It has PRIME real estate, in a rich population high-traffic area. It would make a splash if Regal bought some new reclining chairs and gave the place a good cleaning and makeover, and lowered their concession prices by 25%-30%. Look, I get why attractions in general charge more for concessions, but these prices are hilariously bad. Lowering the prices would result in higher profits because more people would buy more items. It's a no-brainer. The video and audio quality is superb, which is ironic considering the state of the rest of the theater. Probably the best part of the experience is if you see an older or less popular movie, you are likely to have the whole theater to yourself! It's a very fun experience to see a movie on a huge screen with no one else around. Good for the customer, very, very bad for Regal.
