From the very first visit, I remember feeling such a sense of calm in her space. The environment was peaceful, organized, and full of warmth. You could immediately tell this was a home filled with love and care. As a first-time mom, I knew I didn't want to send my daughter to a large, chaotic center. I wanted her in a nurturing home setting where she could feel safe and cherished, and that's exactly what Shazia has created. Shazia and her team are incredibly loving and attentive. They treat the children like family and go above and beyond to support each child's growth. She has been there for every single milestone and has played such an important role in my daughter's development. From helping her eat healthy, home-cooked meals to encouraging interactive play through music and dance classes, Shazia has truly helped my daughter thrive. One day I asked my daughter where her nose was and, to my surprise, she pointed right to it. Then she showed me where her eyes, mouth and head were too. I had no idea she even knew those things, but Shazia had been teaching her. It's moments like these that make me realize just how much she's learning and growing every day under Shazia's care. I am endlessly grateful for the love, patience, and attention Shazia has shown our daughter. I wish she could stay with her forever. Any parent would be lucky to have their child in Shazia's daycare. In her 2 1/2 years being cared for by Shazia, she never cried on drop-off but occasionally did during pick-up because she wanted to stay -- this made our hearts happy. We never worried because we knew she was loved and cared for at her second home by her second mommas. We were blessed to find such an amazing place and will be forever grateful for all they taught our little one. Having to leave because kids grow and have to move on brings yet another storm of emotions, but we know our little one is prepared to take on the world's next challenge because of the knowledge, compassion and care provided during her time at Children's Zone. We are immensely grateful to have formed such a great bond with such a great group of people and recommend them to anyone needing a loving and nurturing environment for their babies/toddlers. Whenever an incident happened at the daycare with one of our kids they lied and changed the story multiple times leaving out important information pertaining to the incident. In the evening for pickup, my kids' nose was always dried up with snot, and their shoes were never tied. The tuition we pay every week doesn't equal up to the service we receive from the daycare. Something seriously needs to be done about this. They take no accountability for any of their actions.

My enthusiasm enrolling my child at a "good" daycare based on reviews and recommendations died essentially the first day my child was officially there. The first and biggest disappointment is the fact the teachers there appear to be disengaged and uninterested. When I noticed there were 6 new babies out of a class of 12 starting the same day and many of them crying essentially every time I made a stop at the center throughout the first week, I was particularly interested in how they would comfort the children. They didn't! That was pretty disappointing as I consider the emotional well-being of my child as important, if not more important than being fed and having clean diapers. My child absolutely hated that place-pulling me away from the door when we got there, having restless nights full of nightmares, losing skills he previously had etc on top of crying the most he's ever had basically all the time at LAP starting from drop off. That made me decide to spend more time there to observe what's causing him to be that uncomfortable. I spent an hour observing everything they were doing. I also paid attention to all the other kids. There wasn't a single child who finished even 25% of the lunch presented that day but they would just push the milk to them and lunch is done. Then I received an email later that day my child who barely had a bite of a taco "ate most/everything". I could see the teachers laughing at me and shaking heads I was there to watch. As far as I'm concerned, I'm paying to get the service and entitled to watch what my helpless child has to go through. I obviously didn't care about how they felt about me exercising my rights. Besides, when folks are professional and confident of their work, they would want to show it off. But clearly the LAP team would rather get away with their mediocre childcare away from the parents. I'm watching all this through a tinted window btw. Then they turn off the light from the inside knowing that the hallway Iight was still on and that my child would see me (and cry). If you need more lows than that, keep reading. I've also witnessed (2 consecutive days) that they let the kids watch songs on an iPad. When I brought it up to the owner, it was explained to me it was "just one song in the morning". I mean I'm not there to monitor the entire day so I'm supposed to believe they're telling the truth. Also, ahead of enrollment, they asked me to fill out many pages of questions. Apparently, the teachers never received the forms. Here I was thinking they asked those questions because they wanted to understand the child as an individual but the reality is they didn't even communicate to the teacher my child's food allergies. Seriously! When I dropped my child even after 3 weeks, there was not a single teacher my child gravitated towards the slightest bit. When I ask them the toys he plays with during the day, none of the teachers would know-not pay attention to the kids obviously. The reason I had decided daycare would be better than home was for the social interaction. However, I quickly figured they lacked attentiveness to meet that. For example, there was one time my child had the water cup out of reach. He pointed to it multiple times but the teacher who sat next to him was dazed and didn't pass the cup. Children develop skills based on the response they get around them. If they are consistently dismissed, they will grow up to be robotic and disengaged who don't get common sense. If you want a place, any place to leave your child, this place might do it. However, if you are trying to raise a well rounded human being whose emotional and psychological needs are met, I don't think LAP team has the skills or knowledge to offer that. Although my child would never sleep more than an hour (as opposed to 3 hours at home), eat almost nothing, to me the emotional negligence is the ultimate factor I've pulled my child out of this worrisome place.

There are some really amazing people that work here and the programming is beyond excellent. But a few teachers in our experience seem burned out irritated and overwhelmed. The daily napslips that are supposed to provide updates on nap time and food eaten are clearly on auto send and innacurrate. If my kid were younger, less verbal and more dependent on emotional engagement they wouldn't go here but they are a bit older and independent now. They can tell me what they ate and how they napped themselves. And they are just in love with a few of the assistants. The shows and education are also top notch.

Next year, Mrs. Verna started to literally harass my child - stuff like forcing him to carry a 8 pound back back (third if his weight), instead of using napkins to clean up his nose - swallow mucus (it's gross!) and other things like that. One day they call me in the morning to pick up my son because he is uncontrollably crying. I came to pick him up, they said he refused to go to the playground. He was at Mrs. Verna office on the floor uncontrollably crying. At home he said that Mrs. Verna dragged him to his office and told him he is crazy. He had a couple bruises. We asked the pastor to investigate what happened as they have cameras but he refused. He said that Mrs. Verna never does anything wrong. Instead the next day when my husband took him to school - they de-enrolled him without letting us know. They asked off duty police officer to escort my 3 y.o. out of school. We involved CPS but of course they could not find anything. We moved to another school and in the past three years we never had a problem there. I have never seen my son crying non stop for an hour, not before and not after this incident. To this day I don't know what happened there. I feel guilty I couldn't protect my son. The thing I know - Baptist Church don't care about you or your child. We met two more students/parents who went here and they had similar stories. And I question: why after so many years of existence there are no reviews good or bad for this school?

However, there is a "right" church for most people & this one is not it for my family. So I'm writing a review just to let others know why in case they may have the same concerns/issues. We went here for a while a few yrs. back (3-4yrs) and really enjoyed it. The sermons are great & they have lots of activities & things for children. It is a very involved church & you can truly immerse yourself. If we got there on time seating was never an issue & I always got a lot out of the sermons. The music is contemporary & very upbeat. The people are friendly. Then it started getting more & more crowded. I have been "church shopping" for my family for about 6 yrs. now, since we moved to northern Va from Fredericksburg. Still haven't found a church like the smaller, family oriented, personal & very real church I left. So I decided to check out a couple others in the area. About a yr. later we came back to 1st baptist a few times. Holy moly. The population had exploded!! I don't know what they did but it was so crowded you couldn't get a seat unless you got there super early. Even when getting there early I'd go in the sanctuary & people had left their bible, jackets, etc. on seats to save their seat so we still couldn't get one. We would stand in the back, hanging around feeling stupid. The ushers pretty much ignored us. We then would go out into the lobby & sit at a table & watch on the TV out there. This happened 2 Sundays in a row. Many people, including those who worked at the church, passed by & no one even spoke to us. Boy did we feel out of place. Awkward! So that was it for me. Too many other churches to fight for seating & feel invisible. Really impersonal. I felt like I could go there for 2 yrs. and no one would know who I was. So, my search continues...... Again, on a positive note, the sermons are great & my kids loved childrens church there. The childrens church teachers are great. They are the only ones who remembered us. I think too many of these mega churches in the area focus so much on growth & missions that they miss the regular people & those who are searching & may be in need. I have seen in it many, many churches in Woodbridge. So I will look for a smaller church, where perhaps they'll remember my face, or actually call me/email me when I put in a prayer request.

My kids come home and impress me with what they learn during the day. They've even impressed their cousins knowing colors and words in Spanish. They have a good time with their friends, but most of all, they adore their teachers. The teachers make them feel safe and cared for and they learn a great deal under their care and instruction. The facility itself is bright, inviting, very clean and well maintained. Different playgrounds with lots of space and equipment. Communication is great via their online portal, emails, printed newsletters and of course, direct conversation. We had an opportunity for the kids to attend another preschool but we turned it down to stay at Nova Academy Lorton. During covid, we kept our kids home for almost 1.5 years before returning. I was very moved when my kids returned and on day 1 coming back, they received the most warm and loving welcome! All the teachers remembered them and practically came out of their classrooms to say hello and welcome them back! It feels like a family here. It's no wonder my kids love their teachers at Nova Academy Lorton! Wish I could give this place 10 stars. I truly love ALL the teachers and directors here and will be sad when my kids leave to start kindergarten.
