I had a ring with a very small band resized by this business. They advised me that with such a thin band I should avoid getting it resized more than once to avoid visible changes to the ring, and they did everything in their power to make sure I chose the right size. They got it done within a day and I couldn't even tell that it had been resized, there was absolutely no marking visible to the naked eye. The shop itself was small but seemed to have a great selection of unique jewelry. If I ever need a ring resized, or need to have jewelry custom-made I will definitely come to this shop! read more

Are you looking for a ring for that special someone? Elegance Goldsmith is not your typical jewelry store: it's in the middle of Chinatown and looks pretty rundown, almost shady from the outside. I think the proprietors also live there, as their DOG barks happily from behind the counter. However, if you can get past that, you really should step in if you want to give you and your lady a custom wedding and engagement ring set for a bargain basement price. The shop is run by a Vietnamese husband-and-wife team: hubby does the hard labour and crafts all the rings; he claims he's the main outsourced guy for custom rings from the big jewelry stores in town. So, if you bought something custom from People's, for example, this gentleman may have made it for you, except you were probably charged an arm and a leg. Wife runs the store and is the jewelry expert to help guide you through the process, show you gems -- even take out the microscope to prove the authenticity of items. If you go directly to Elegance Goldsmith, there's zero fanciness so the overhead is low, and they can essentially sell you gems almost at-cost plus labour. At the end of the day, they made us a lovely wedding ring set, completely custom based on my design, with engraving -- a certified Canadian diamond and sapphires with my ring -- for a very reasonable price. Appraised, our rings came to four times what we actually paid for it through them. So, these jewellers are HIGHLY recommended. And how did I hear about this place? A friend of mine showed off her awesome ring and told me about what a great deal this place was with the quality, and I have to say, she was absolutely right. Go to a "normal" jewellers if you want bling and pay for it through the nose. We will NEVER go anywhere else: My husband and I have been customers at Elegance for the last 5 years. Our close friend first told us about this jeweler when he bought his now wife, her engagement ring. This proves that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. This husband and wife team puts so much love and attention to detail into each piece. We have always been treated like family rather than a customer; these reasons are why we will never go anywhere else. My mother passed away in 1996, I was a little girl at the time, She had left me a ring and I wore everyday. Needless to say, over the years it had its wear and tear (including damaged stones). Two years ago I brought this ring, and other pieces of jewelry left behind from both my mother and grandmother to Elegance. They re-created my ring (still keeping the detail in the original ring) while incorporating all other pieces. It's beautiful; both symbolically and physically. I was brought to tears when I first saw it. No other jeweler would have been able to add meaning they way they did to an already special piece. My husband had my engagement ring custom made here as well. He was able to partake in every aspect of the design, including selecting my center diamond (2 karat!) Of course we returned to have our wedding bands made. The quality of their work shows as we get complements on a regular basis. This is by far the best and most honest jewelry store we have ever visited. Yes, it looks sketchy from the outside, but seriously, this little store is quite the gem. My engagement ring is a Victorian Acrostic and is approx. 140 years old. I lost a ruby and it was due to the claws wearing out and breaking. I saw several goldsmiths who wouldn't touch it. They said it was too old and didn't want to assume the risk. Others wanted hundreds for the repair and several hundreds more for a ruby. I also needed a 10K gold ring re-sized and shaped. It was bent into an oval. A friend who had a vintage ring re-designed suggested I contact Elegance Goldsmith because they did such a beautiful job on her ring. It's stunning! I was so happy to discover the ample parking in the back of the store which was super easy to reach via 101 St. Northbound and 108 Ave. (right turn at Humpty's and left down the back alley right before 97 St. I had to buzz for entry and was greeted by one of the owners who is so friendly, kind and helpful. She took a very good look at my rings and was happy to answer all of my questions! After a very brief talk with the Goldsmith, she gave me an estimate, which frankly, blew my mind! It was very affordable and the stone was priced at least 15% less than others. The repair was done in less than an hour! Both rings were cleaned and polished and looked good as new! The goldsmith is also very friendly and we had a really great chat! I was in and out of the store so quickly! These are good people who deliver amazing service, high quality repairs and gems. I had seen good reviews for this shop and decided to visit them to get my engagement ring sized. I cannot say enough about them! My ring was sized within 2 hours, for a reasonable price and they took the time to explain the options for sizing and cutting and what the changes to my ring would be with the sizing (I had incorrectly estimated my size by a lot! so my ring shape changed with sizing). There were no surprises and when they had to cut through the engraving to size the ring (they offered another option but this is the option I took) they encouraged me to explore engraving options instead of upselling me on their engraving services. 11/10 would recommend. read more

I went to Elegance Goldsmith to buy an engagement ring after reading other reviews here on Yelp. As a relative novice to the jewellery scene, I initially hesitated about going to an independent jeweller - I'm glad to report, though, that it was a fantastic shopping experience. My (now) fiancée had shown me some pictures of rings on Pinterest that she liked, and I brought along a few of these to my first visit to Elegance Goldsmith. The proprietor, Lynda, was wonderfully patient and helpful, and answered all my questions about custom design (my fiancée wanted a ring with an opal, and Lynda made sure I was aware of the risks of setting a "soft" stone, and then helped me pick the perfect gem). I never felt pressured or uncomfortable - this is exactly how ring shopping should always be! After placing the order for the ring, I decided to move up the date of the proposal by several weeks to suit travel plans. I called Lynda to see if it would be possible, and I was truly amazed that she and her husband (who makes the jewellery) were not only able and willing to expedite the ring, but also were kind enough to do it at no extra cost. Truly, the best customer service I have ever seen. The ring turned out beautifully, and my fiancée loves it. We returned soon after to have it resized, and it was done while we waited, as part of the initial cost. I needed my engagement ring resized (platinum) and I was feeling impatient and not wanting to wait. I called around to a couple places and didn't want to pay more than $200 and wait 3 weeks. I received a call back from elegance goldsmith and she told me that they resize right there! So I went in and chatted about what size I needed (a full ring size and a half up) and quoted me an amazing price. Not only was the customer service excellent, we also chatted about my ring and the quality. Plus I was starving (just came from work) and they even recommended some places to eat while I waited for my ring. Was looking to get my wedding rings reset into white gold, Independent Jewelers wanted over $1500 and who knows how long it would have taken, found out about Elegance on Yelp, sent off an email to see if they could do it. Got a reply later that day with 3 different options. Took my rings in on Thursday, had a great chat with Lynda, one of the owners, told her what I wanted and she said "no problem" she even took some old gold that I had and subtracted it from the price of my ring re-do. The best part, other than it only costing $320 was the fact that I picked them up 2 days later! My rings are gorgeous, I'm thrilled and will definitely be back!! I have purchased two pieces of jewelry here so far, on two different occasions. In both cases the advice, selection, price, and after sales service were amazing. The second piece I bought was an engagement ring, and we will be returning to buy our wedding bands as well. I was very impressed when the manager recommend me the best ring for my needs, not the one closest to my highest price. I would guess that I saved a good $400 on that one purchase. I first emailed this store after finding out they might carry Moissanite. Short background - I wanted moissanite for my engagement ring but didn't want to pay so much from online so through the Moissanite website by Charles & Colvard, I found out about Elegance Goldsmith information on there. This was about a couple of weeks ago, as I emailed all the stores in Edmonton inquiring about the Moissanite they carry. Lynda Tang from Elegance was the first to get back to me (within an hour or two of me sending my email!). She mentioned she carried a few stones and could order in what I wanted once I went there and checked out their selection. I read other reviews on both Yelp and Google about how amazing her service and business was so I was glad to check her out! The area is really shady, not the type of place I like to be in, but I spent a lot of time in these types of areas as a kid so I got over it and went. My fiancé was with me as we rang the buzzer to enter and we did. We were warmly greeted by Lynda and her husband as I let her know I was the person inquiring about moissanite. Her husband let me know it's not a good diamond alternative, but I already understood that and still wanted to see. Lynda let me have free rein at looking at her selection. She has some beautiful pieces in the store. She educated us on every piece we looked at. She explained how they do mostly custom, and mostly anything we wanted - they could make for us. Her wedding bands for men are really fairly priced. They're not here to make more profit from us, they explain everything they would charge us for and it's way more fair than other stores that seem less educated. I almost wanted this 3ct opal + diamond ring as an engagement ring but I hestiated. She didn't mind at all, she still educated us on what it's like and respected my preferences. As she went in the back to go feed her dogs (they're so cute!), her husband came out to discuss moissanite. He has his opinion that they're not as great as everyone else (on the internet) claims them to be. I don't mind the rainbow spectrum that shines from it, but you could tell he was a diamond lover. At first I thought both Lynda and her husband wanted to sell me a diamond vs. their moissanites but they explained they had other customers who came back with issues with their moissanites. Then they even told me they would feel better selling me a Cubic Zirconia ring if I wanted a non-diamond ring. I was surprised. But they let me know because of the patent of moissanites ran out with Charles & Colvard a year ago, it can be mass produced. The value we pay for it now would depreciate faster than we can blink and they didn't want us to waste our money - whereas with diamonds or other precious gemstones the values are consistent. I knew about the patent coming in but I didn't realize what that meant in which they just educated me on! I asked them to put on hold 2 beautiful rings in which I loved but couldn't decide on. They told me to sleep on it. Lynda even offered 1 of the rings I loved (a .5 - .6 TCW diamond 18K ring) for $1000 when it was priced at $1900! A few days later I found "my" ring at another store (it's one I originally loved before all of this) but it's all because of Lynda's and her husband's help that I was confident at choosing. I will definitely be back here for other pieces. I really enjoyed my experience here. Lynda was super sweet and complimented me greatly and we all learned a little about each other's background and it was such a fun time. TL;DR Lynda and her husband are brutally honest but are incredibly educated about their work. They are fun and respectful people and carry beautiful jeweller, which even though I didn't choose to do - I am confident in their custom-making ability. read more

I took my wedding band to get it re-channeled as the diamonds were coming loose. They told me if could not be done so I asked them if they could make one that looks like it. She said they could, the price was reasonable and I brought my own gold to have it made. The end product was horrible, square and bulky, not feminine at all and no where similar to my old band. She saw the look of horror and dismay on my face and insisted it was a one of a kind solid ring. I will never go back to them, she is pushy and talks over you and I will never wear that wedding band again, it is too bulky and manly and squishes my little fingers. If you can't do what is expected of you don't say you can. They are good for sizing and such. read more

I was a little put off by the neighborhood (its not really a part of town I would think to go ring shopping in) but I got a very good recommendation from a coworker so we went anyways. The selection was very unique, and we found our perfect blue diamond ring there for a very reasonable price. The couple who run the business (especially the husband, whose name I have forgotten now, sadly) were so helpful. I asked questions about different stones and metals, and they had very informative answers about the pros and cons of different designs and materials. Also, they resized the ring for free on the spot, we just had to wait a few minutes for them to finish it (I can't remember exactly how long, but it was very fast and convenient). As good as it gets :) After some horrible experiences with other goldsmiths (namely Paris Jewellers on the west end), I was reluctant to wear my engagement ring because of the 'unstable' setting of my diamond. After reading many reviews I decided to try Elegance Goldsmith and I am thrilled to report that it was a wonderful experience. They not created a new setting for my centre stone, but completed the work within 24 hours, with great attention to detail and excellent record keeping. That's right ,no looking through a book trying to pick one out than having the salesperson "phone" about the price routine.They will weigh it right in front of you and give you the price there and then.I walked out with the chain having paid far less than the quoted price of the other store for the same length and karat.They also do not try to "up sell" you,just show what you ask for.It is a very comfortable,down to earth experience with friendly knowledgable people. read more
