I really wish I didn't have to write this review, especially about a business that's supposed to be part of one of the most special days of your life. I hired Elegant Event Entertainment for my wedding scheduled for September 12, 2025. I paid them in full -- $3,190 -- back in March. Sadly, the wedding was canceled due to very personal reasons. It was a painful decision. While the company seemed understanding at first, things quickly turned when I asked for a refund. I wasn't even asking for the full amount -- I was willing to forfeit the $1,000 deposit. I just wanted the remaining balance returned for services that were never provided. After weeks of emails and back-and-forth with Chris Mortillano, I only received $1,600 back. He claimed the remaining $590 was spent on a photobooth -- something I never authorized, never used, and never agreed to pay for in advance. And after that, he stopped replying to me altogether. It's hard enough going through a canceled wedding. To then be ignored and shortchanged by someone you trusted to be part of that day just adds insult to injury. It wasn't just about the money -- it was about doing what's right. Unfortunately, that didn't happen here. Please think twice before booking with this company. Elegant Event Entertainment was an excellent music vendor for our July 2025 wedding at Maravilla Gardens. Chris Mortillaro was helpful, informative, and personable throughout the planning process. Chris included monthly checklists that helped us stay on track during wedding planning. Additionally, there is an online system you use to submit your music that helped my partner and me personalize our event with our music preferences. In the week leading up to the wedding, I was pretty nervous that there would be lulls on the dance floor, but thanks to Chris's DJ skills and our guests, we had an active dance floor the whole night with all ages! I was on the dance floor the entire night, except for one or two breaks. Chris and Josh did a fantastic job at our wedding, we didn't have to worry about a thing. Chris was very helpful over the months before the wedding, meeting with us several times virtually and onsite of the venue to communicate our vision to him. We thought we might've been asking too much from him to execute all of our ideas, but he understood the assignment and definitely pulled through on our wedding day. We were repeat customers- my sis had one of the owners (Chris) from EEE as her DJ 2 years ago so I knew right away I wanted, no needed, Chris for ours! He was a great MC, kept the party going and played music for everyone so that the dance floor was going all night long. He was so responsive (we live up in SF but the wedding was down in LA) and the online planner was great so that we could put the details in and then talk through them at our final meeting. DJ Jon was our wedding DJ this past Friday and while I loved all my vendors, he's the first one on my list to give a top-star review to. Periodically throughout the night my husband and I found ourselves turning to him to give him a thumbs up because he seriously rocked our wedding. Everything went so smoothly and he was a doll to work with; really made us feel comfortable and taken care of through the whole process, including the day of. Elegant Events online music selection process is an awesome feature. We put in some of our musical selects, with the hopes that from that Jon could fill in the rest according to our tastes. It worked, he nailed it! It was a truly magical day for me and I love music so much that having the right songs playing for all the special moments added a level to the night that is hard to explain. We had DJ Josh at our wedding earlier in November. He was amazing! Not only was he really organized, on time, and super down-to-earth, he was so personable when he made announcements during the reception. He even got up and taught our guests a dance, and kept in close contact with our planner to make sure everything was occurring "according to schedule". Thanks so much, Josh! I hesitated about writing this review but this site is what the " people really think" so here goes...while my daughters wedding was really fun...there were a couple of " hiccups" with EEE. First of all...the DJ and MC were NOT what our daughter thought she was getting. My daughter met with Chris and she was totally under the impression that he would be the MC. She loved his voice and all that he presented. When the wedding day arrived, she was beyond surprised to find the MC was someone she had never met or even spoke with prior. Once the reception began, the MC, totally bombed announcing the parent dance and I asked through a private email to Chris about this. He totally "owned" the issue but again, a wedding is not about " hiccups". He also never addressed my question about the MC and why our daughter was not aware of the MC and why she had never met this guy. Additionally, there was a big lull during the dinner and the dancing. When I asked Chris about this in my private email, he blamed the event planner and photographer on the sunset photos and it taking too long. I really needed to ask...why didn't the DJ/MC know what to to during this ? Could they not have "filled " in with dancing as we had a real dancing crowd? How about just basically knowing how to carry the party in the event that the photographer got hung up during sunset? This to all of us should have been his BALL to carry. Again, the wedding was great but when I look back..the DJ can make or break your party. Thankfully our guests could carry our event when the DJ/MC could not. I believe Chris tried out a MC in " training "and did not share that with us. I want to pass on to anyone who hires EEE to know specifically who will be the DJ AND MC and to know their protocol when there is an unforeseen delay, should that occur, and how they will handle any " down " time to keep the party moving. read more

Daryl was our DJ for our wedding last weekend on 10/3 and he was phenomenal. My fiance and I were both very impressed. We initially had a phone conversation with Daryl and then from instantly liking him he offered to drive up to Santa Barbara (even though he is in Thousand Oaks) to meet with us face to face. We then signed the contract and kept in touch regarding song lists, timeline, wedding party, etc. He then offered to come to the wedding venue (Polo Fields) to take a walk around so he could make sure he knew where everything was going. He showed up early the day of our wedding and was on point all day long. My point here is that he was very responsible, professional and just awesome. Everybody enjoyed the music all night long. We gave him our "do play" and " do not play" list (which he followed) but also trusted him to feel the crowd and play good dance music. He nailed it! Hiring DJ Jason Jones was the best decision I made for my sister's wedding (the happy couple live in Hawaii and the wedding was in Los Angeles, so I had to make the important decisions). He's professional, honest and entertaining. The wedding went by smoothly as he MC'd the night away. He knows what he's doing, he knows what you need and he works with you so that you could celebrate one of the most memorable days of your life, stress-free. We also had a live band playing at the wedding, Jason took it upon himself to schedule when they would play and when he would start DJing, it was perfect. He gave me a 30 minute warning for my Maid of Honor speech (perfect prep time) and would communicate with the catering team to ensure everyone had champagne glasses before introducing us for our speeches. He was so amazing and now that the wedding is over, I am so glad we went through the drama just because that meant we lucked out and got Chris as a DJ. He was so easy to work with and made the whole night go very smoothly. Their website to choose music and give him an idea of what we are looking for was very easy to use. And if we had a question or a concern he replied to our emails pretty much within a minute of it being sent out. Chris was amazing!!! We met with him via Skype a few times in the planning process which made it so easy for us since we do not live in the area. We started to make our "do not play" list and he said "Don't worry I wouldn't play those songs anyways". He helped me coordinate a big Star Wars surprise for my groom and provided excellent equipment for my brother and cousin to use as they played acoustic guitar for our ceremony. Our guests continue to compliment our music choice but we really can't take much credit. We told Chris our general music likes and dislikes and described the vibe we wanted for cocktail hour, dinner, and reception and he totally nailed it! He followed our song suggestions as well as added a few of his own that fit the dynamic of the group and got people to dance (a sure sign of a great wedding, right?) We had a mixed crowd of young people who loved dancing and older guests less inclined to dance, and Daryl was able find the happy medium to ensure all guests were having an enjoyable time. He also worked with our schedule and made sure the photographers were present at all important events (from the bouquet toss to the cake cutting) so all of our special moments were captured as he announced them. Picking a DJ is so much more than just music; you have to also find one who is organized, on top of scheduling, has the ability to MC the event as well, since the smoothness of the event from start to finish really depends on the DJ.
