Spur of the moment, spontaneous road trip to Hanover, NH/Norwich VT, found this cool little hotel last minute with pretty decent rates. Mind you, yes, it was -20° when we were up here (unplanned of course) due to bomb cyclone weather. Anyhow, I'm so glad my trusty Honda Element Box Baby survived in this brutal freeze, she is a Cali girl after all. The staff were very friendly and welcoming at check in. The lobby and coffee/breakfast buffet bar area is inviting and modern. They had a HH from 5-6:30p with wine, beers and pita chips snacks. Round the clock hot coffee was much appreciated, especially during this crazy winter. Amenities: Pet Friendly: This is always the determination of any nearby destination. Our 18 year old chihuahua mutt needs to be able to tag along with us. Super pet friendly here. Pool: Though I brought my bathing suit, I was too tired after sightseeing to take a dip. It's a small pool, I'm sure kids love it. Gym: Small, but does the trick. Few treadmills, cycling areas, bosu balls, no stretching area. Also, there are no wipes. They do provide workout towels, yoga mats and there is a water station for hydration. Breakfast: Pretty decent but you will get the instant stuff. They have a bagel and English muffin station with cereals and milk. The days we were here, they had hard boiled eggs if you don't want the instant scramble eggs. Sausage links were good, the sausage patties weren't heated all the way through so it was still a bit frozen and inedible. There were hot cakes that were good. Don't expect brunch style options, typical hotel breakfast staples. Does the trick and there are plenty of healthy options too such as fruit and Greek yogurt Rooms: Very cute and modern. Each room had a kitchenette which is so convenient. The nightstands have USB chargers, the heat was great! We blasted that thing and made the cold much more bearable. The showers have good water pressure. I'm so glad this place launders and changes the sheets per guest! I could always tell when sheets and pillow cases have been laundered and when they haven't, so yay for cleanliness. My sole complaint here is that you can hear everyone next door and in the hallways. So, I can definitely tell you the parents next door to us were not getting any sleep at 3am from their crying toddler who was stomping around cause I wasn't getting any sleep either! If you forgo housekeeping service, you can get 250 points added or $5 credit to use at the convenience store downstairs. Pretty awesome since we don't generally use housekeeping when we travel. Great driving distance to lots of restaurants. 5 mins to Jesse's Tavern, 15 mins to King Arthur Flour and Dartmouth Campus. Quechee Park and mall are about 20 mins drive. Beautiful areas around with lots of handmade cheeses, jams, soaps and VT maple syrup to purchase for home. Amazing slopes too. Snowboard trip when the weather is much more bearable. read more

I am very impressed with this hotel. It's been quite a while since I felt this way about any hotel. The overall theme is that it's clean, compact, and modern. Upon entrance, one can appreciate the expansive windows and the modern lobby. The servicemen were friendly. Although the room was by no means fancy, the clean modern decor along with the presence of a functional kitchen (which we honestly did not test) was more than sufficient. Similarly, the bathroom and beds were equally equipped and functional. Actually, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The exercise facilities were nice. Small but functional, the gym has more than a handful of dedicated weight training machines to say that it's just basic, along with a full rack of weights (up to the standard 50-pound pair). There are a pair of all 3 major cardio machines (treadmill, recumbent bike, and elliptical). With a water cooler and disposable earbuds, I don't see how too many people could be unhappy with the layout. I wish I had the time to check out the pool, which also looked inviting. The best part was the breakfast. Although unassuming by a cursory glance, a detailed look reveals that the choices are all incredibly excellent. Not only did it have all the essential elements of a healthy breakfast, with a variety of yogurt and nutritious drinks, it also has ingredients for those who savor the hearty. I think I had not one, not two, but three helpings of the sausage scramble. This had to be the best breakfast I have had in a long, long time. The presence of this hotel adds incredible value to the community. No wonder it commands top dollar at the demanding days for local graduations. This hotel is very nice. I stayed in a room consisting of a seperate bedroom, a bathroom, and a combined kitchen and living room with a desk. For a business traveller this room is great as you can work, relax, and cook if needed. Cooking however is optional as a decent breakfast is served daily and a complimentary light dinner is available on week days. The hotel has free parking, a nice gym and an indoor pool (small). read more

Happy hour from 5-6:30 Monday- Thursday. GENEROUS. Two types of beer, red, white, and bread and cheese platter. Great place to hang out (games). Comfortable rooms. Loved the value on sustainability (toilets even had two flushing settings to minimize water use when appropriate). Location close to Hanover. There is a margaritas a 3 minute drive away which we brought in and ate in front of the tv after a long day of hiking. Also plenty of pizza and Thai places will deliver. read more

I will not recommend this hotel chain any longer. I was in town for a funeral and notified the front desk the day I arrived that I wasn't solid on my plans. I was there to plan my sister's funeral so I didn't have exact dates, I asked if extending or shortening by a day would be okay. They said it would be no problem. I planned the funeral and let them know I was leaving a day early two days in advance. I again asked for confirmation and they said my change in dates was fine. They charged me for the room anyway and refuse to refund saying their cancelation policy doesn't allow because I pre-booked. My advice is to stay at one of the just as nice hotels on this road by the hospital. There are several right there. This hotel stole money from me by charging me for a room I didn't use, that they rented to someone else. Not only did they take this money, but they took it from a person who has a $10,000 funeral bill for someone with no life insurance. This hotel is by a hospital so they probably see this lack of confirmed date often. I wonder how many other humans this chain has taken advantage of. I am so disappointed by these people and this chain. It's all quite unethical and awful. The front desk was almost never manned when I was in need of service. I had to wait at least 5 minutes to check-in the first day. The room was clean and the breakfast was awesome (especially the lady who cooked daily, she is superb!). read more

We came here because of unfortunate circumstances, but feel fortunate to have found this clean, well-appointed hotel. This place is perfect if you find you need to visit the area for several days for medically related reasons--like, your husband got his finger caught in a table saw while working on a construction site nearby-ish. (Yeah. Don't worry: I'm not including pictures of that. But trust me, it ain't pretty) Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital--which is super ultra close by--couldn't schedule surgery until 2 days later, so we decided to chill here for an unplanned "pain-cation." If you are forced to take a paincation, this is a nice place to do it. We've got a full-sized refrigerator to keep our leftover Korean food from Yama (and to freeze the ice pack to numb the throbbingly painful hand). There are pots and pans and a small stove top range where you can heat the Korean comfort food. There is a small-but-sufficient selection of bowls and plates to serve it in--and a DISHWASHER to clean it all up in, which is awesome since one of us has a gash to the bone and the other is bone tired*. There are even Pyrex bowls with lids for storing any remaining comfort food. (It doesn't have to be Korean food; this kitchen works for all cuisines) The decor is simple but classy, conducive to trying to calm your worried mind. The TV swivels so you can watch it from the couch or the bed or while eating Bulgogi over the kitchen sink at 2 a.m. There is a desk where you can set up your computer to email updates to your concerned family and friends. And the comfy beds are ideal for trying to sleep in while your swollen hand is trapped in a heavy, awkward cast. And did I mention how nice the staff is? When we called to check availability, I explained why we were in town--and they gave us a nice discount. In short, just about everything I need is here so I can be here for the one who needs me. read more

Overall, great stay. Rooms were fantastic and the hotel was designed well with a slew of activities. However, the FD supervisor gave us wrong directions one night and the hotel was less than enthusiastic to let me participate in SPG Keyless (one of the coolest programs out there in the industry right now I think). Breakfast is chaotic with families of all sorts sprawled across the lobby so it might be a better idea to dine from your room. But trust me, the rooms are an oasis, with bathrooms nicer than those at the W Hotels, and more space than you could ever need. Definitely plan to hit this hotel up again! read more

This was a pleasant surprise. Brand New, Modern, super clean, super comfortable and very accommodating. I could not have been happier with my stay. I travel a lot for work and this is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed in for a while. Being brand new helps of course. There is not yet a sign on the road and the street is new as well so your GPS might not pick it up, but it says Element on the side of building which you can see from the road. My mom, aunt and I stayed for just one night last year while visiting with my ailing grandma at Dartmouth. While I haven't stayed in many hotels in my life so far, Element would be placed at the top! When we booked our room the hotel hadn't been open for long, our room probably had never been slept in before! It was super nice, I was impressed and surprised at the price vs quality. Pots and pans to cook with, very comfy beds and couches, a very nice bathroom. Plenty of outlets and if I recall correctly USB ports too! I have no complaints whatsoever. I was delighted to discover this moderately priced oasis in Lebanon NH. The drive from Boston to my parents' is a long one, especially after a full day of work - I wanted a comfortable place en route that was reasonably priced and pet friendly. Element definitely fit the bill on all counts - in addition to lovely calm appointments in the lobby, halls, and guest rooms, the hotel had high quality amenities in the bathrooms, a cute little kitchenette with a microwave and small refrigerator, and a super comfortable king bed. My room was quiet even though it faced the highway. The complimentary breakfast was good, and the staff was welcoming and friendly, and were very sweet to my senior cat Riley. He loved it there too - we will definitely be back! read more

Austere, but clean and friendly... My gf and I planned a weekend overnight, leaving our dogs and kids behind for winter icy hikes and some warmth. We had planned to stay at the Element, not realizing that they are both pet-friendly and do not charge for the furry guests. Nothing, Nada, free! The Expedia site did not spell that out as we learned that at the check-in desk, some 250 miles from home. Oh well...Still, I called ahead to make sure we had a quiet room farther away from the lobby and elevator. Our biggest concern was noise, as she is a light sleeper and we wanted the largest executive suite at about $172 all in, just in case I fall deep into a snoring slumber I thought I might sleep on the couch in the adjoining room. However, the largest suites are located near the elevator and many of them face the busy main thoroughfare that leads into town. Being outside Dartmouth's college town makes it a great location with easy-to-find hikes on the AT and two Co-Op supermarkets within 5 miles. But the road wasn't the only noise we encountered, the interiors of the room follow a European austerity, clean lines and hard floors with few surfaces to absorb noise, amplifying and echoing everything from hallway conversations to nonverbal bathroom noise. In fact, I'm sure they are still reverberating around the walls, hours after checkout. All of the fixtures and light switches are "green" meaning that they are efficient and quiet. The downside is that you can't hide noise anywhere, not under the covers, not in the bathroom, and not even those of your next door neighbors. We checked out that night and drove back home, not even trying out the bed. In all seriousness, this is a great deal for busy families looking for a great family experience and the pet-friendly policy is both rare and welcome. It just wasn't for us. read more

I love the modern feel of this hotel. I saw many environmentally friendly initiatives (i.e. low flow toilets, automatic lights, parking for green vehicles). The room was very spacious with a full kitchen included (dishwasher, sink, cook-top, full size refrigerator, plates, silverware, etc). The bathroom was great with a waterfall shower head! There were lots of little things that made my stay more comfortable like shampoo/soap dispensers in the shower rather than the tiny little bottles that don't ever have enough for my thick hair, big fluffy bath towels, electric outlets on the bedside tables. Breakfast was awesome. Fresh oatmeal with walnuts, cranberries, and granola?! Yes, please! They even had berry smoothies one morning, breakfast burritos, soymilk, and a coffee bar which was stocked 24/7. There is a light reception every night in the lobby which I didn't take part in. I also didn't use the pool or workout area, but they looked clean and well maintained. My only complaints were the lack of staff at the front desk at times. There wasn't anyone there when I arrived to check in or another time when I went to ask for directions (both between 5-7pm). There should be a bell or something you can press to alert staff you are at the desk. Also, the parking situation was a bit odd. Its a tiered parking lot without great access to the building, so if you have luggage, you might have to carry them up a set of stairs or walk all the way around the lot to get to your car. Otherwise, I had a very comfortable stay and would stay again if in the area! read more

My husband, two kids, and I stayed here for a night in April. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The establishment itself is very clean and nice. We rented a studio featuring a king bed - amazed at the kitchen stocked with dishes, cutlery, and cooking pans. With a small infant, very useful for having everything on hand. They also have a small swimming pool on site which we did not end up using in favor of going out to see NH and VT. read more

We stayed overnight at this trendy hotel, which we planned on a trip related to Opera North. It's an interesting property, to say the least, as it promotes itself as a "sustainable" property. Among its features are van pool stations, electric vehicle charging stations, pet's allowed, and the mission to attract an active clientele. In my opinion, there were too many vanpool paces and too few electric vehicle charging stations. Our check-in was swift and the personnel were friendly. Our room was clean and modern. Nice touches include soap dispensers in the shower, a rain shower that felt great, a separate faucet that dispensed drinking water in the kitchenette, microwave oven, refrigerator, and flat screen TV. When we went there, the room seemed quiet enough, even though we were on the street side, the building did a good job of isolating the street noise. We appreciated the blackout rolling shade and the translucent shade. Sleep quality was nice, but I did have to double up on the overly soft pillows. We stayed in the King room. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast, which featured an abundance of fruit juices, some good pastries, breakfast sausages, breads, and a yogurt bar where I made myself a bowl of nice Greek yogurt with fresh strawberries, blueberries, nuts and granola. There was an abundance of cereal choices, but why not offer a fresh pot of oatmeal rather than bags of instant oatmeal? Trouble is, there were scant places to sit to enjoy this nice breakfast. There were few tables, and these were "communal" tables. I hope that Element decides to revisit this feature and provide a more diverse table layout, including some tables for two. Also, the public hallways on the fourth floor should have been cleaner- there were noticeable stains on the carpet. And we were put off by having to eat our breakfast alongside families with dogs in tow. So-would we stay here again? Maybe, if they resolved the seating in the breakfast area. read more

Wow Amazing !! I just finishing traveling across country and this place is the Top. I have stayed in resorts spas and this is great. Not one attention to detail is left out. Every detail - cleaned to perfection -free breakfast fit for a King - the gym beats the best Equinox and the pool is beautiful enclosed glass that puts you in the element with nature. Really how can they do it at this great rate - plush towels - humble staff who are so proud welcoming and kind. Dogs are welcome and my Emma says they win two paws down!! The service was excellent every staff member we encountered had a smile on their face and an answer for questions There is a lovely little happy hour and that's included in your hotel charge and a fine breakfast in the morning that's also free. Wonderful stay! We had a large group for a week at the Element in Lebanon-Hanover. They were very accommodating and had a very friendly staff. Lots of breakfast options and had an evening appetizer hour with beer and wine! If you hang the tag on your door and forgo room service, you get a $5 voucher good for the little food shop they have in the lobby. The lobby was spacious and there was plenty of seating indoor and outdoors. We could even check out Wii remotes and games and play Wii in the lobby, great for my kiddos! Great gym, and pool, though the pool is pretty small. It is nestled in the woods and very peaceful. Overall, I'm very thankful for a fantastic week! read more

They thought of every possible aspect, to make our stay feel comfortable. Real dishes, glassware, silverware in the kitchen. A full size fridge. Built-in water filter. Dishwasher. Comfy living room furniture. Luscious pillows, bedding, towels. Even a salt water pool. This was a wonderful, surprising, relaxing stay. The staff is superb. Really great value for the price! Very pretty and modern rooms. Loved the outdoor seating area. My only complaint is that breakfast doesn't start until 0630. I had to be to work by 0700 so I only had time for a few bites. With DHMC being so close by you'd think that breakfast would start a little earlier since 0700 is a common time for things to start in the hospital world. First time staying here and will not return. I'm a pretty loyal SPG customer and routinely stay at Westin, St. Regis or Sheraton when traveling. In this case, first time at an Element. First issue was room rate was not charged correctly and manager was polite but offered no assistance. Going to have to fight that out over the phone. Room is not comfortable and although I expected a minimalist decor and style, I did expect soap in the bathroom. For the 4 star rate they charge, there are better options nearby. Check out the competition before booking. read more

The hotel came up on our searches we thought it was too good to be true. It was almost like "there must be something!" To our delight this was a wonderful hotel. We traveled with another family and requested that we be given rooms close to each other - each of us had dogs and kids. They provided not just clean rooms but also beds for pets. Seems like a new construction and the staff is very helpful, pleasant and eager to help. The rooms overlooking the mountains almost gave us the feel of being in nature and even though it is so close to the highway, there is no noise of traffic passing by. In the morning a sumptuous breakfast is laid out and this is included in the room rate. The kitchen is well stocked - if you were to cook all pots, pans, cups, plates silverware were neatly placed in the shelving and cabinets. Very clean lines. The bathroom had rimless shower doors - rain shower head and handheld shower provided a sleek look as also the flat sink. An eco friendly concept ran through its entire operations which made it even more appealing. Our stay was very comfortable and it competes with any other hotel. I would recommend this for families, individuals who travel on work or get togethers and simply to get away. read more
