Quite possible the worst snow plow company. They either don't come at all or come in the middle of the day. We cannot leave our driveway in the morning. Of the 9 plows this season, ONE has been before 9AM. Our neighbors on both sides use Estabrook and their driveways are always plowed well before 8AM. Missed our driveway, but did the neighbor's. We called and 90 minutes later someone showed up. The next week they didn't do anybody's driveway even though in the contract there was more snow than specified for a clearing. A contract is not inexpensive. Bad business practice. read more

This is the 4th time we've used Elements this year and they are outstanding. Professional, on time for every appointment, quoted pricing accurate, teams are all polite and communicative. Very aware of the area and careful with our property, especially when we used them for 3 different instances of trees being removed - one that required a crane and another that had fallen on our home during a storm. We LOVE the service teams at Elements. We HATE their pricing. We've been living in Tahoe Donner for about 20 years, and have used Elements (and their predecessors) for Snow Removal for the duration. However, home ownership in the mountains requires lots of maintenance projects -- and while we've used various contractors from around the area, Elements has become the "TD One Stop Shop" for all of our maintenance activity, including Defensible Space, Driveway Upkeep, Wood Shingle Staining + Upkeep, Deck maintenance... their service teams are SUPER reliable, SUPER responsive... for example, for one of the projects, I sent them an email at 5:30pm last night asking them to fix one last thing, and their service team was out at our place the following morning, at 7:00am, unscheduled, fixing it, going above and beyond what we had asked for. LOVE IT! These guys are great! However, the downside - they are continually driving up the price of seasonal Snow Removal beyond reason. When we first started, it was about $500 / season, then $550, then $600 (even though there was little snow) -- then there was a big snow year, and the next year, we ere at $800, $850, and last year (BEFORE THEY KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE A MEGA WINTER, and because they got improperly staffed during the 2021 Mega dump over Christmas), the price was increased to a whopping $1300. Now, after this last crazy winter, it's up further to $1400 for Winter 2023. We like their work -- the snow removal is mostly reliable, and most of the time, their plows show up at our house like clock work, long before the city has done anything to clear the road (I'd argue that Elements snow plows do more the Tahoe Donner street cleaning than Truckee does... especially for side streets). But the price gouging is ridiculous. read more

We had Elements come remove two trees that had become hazards. They were responsive, professional, and personable. They had the trees down very quickly, in windy conditions, and made it look easy. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again--fantastic service! read more

We have not had service from Elements since the last storm. The owner says "It was just a dusting." Tahoe Donner snow report shows Dec 28th at 8" and Dec 29th was 4". Total of 12 inches since our last plow. Our driveway is a 13% grade and is not passable. I took pictures, see attached, showing measurements ranging from 3 1/4 inches to 6 1/4 inches depending where you are. See Yelp for the pictures. After repeated calls we are told there will be no service until the next storm, hopefully it is not another "dusting". e were told the owner/manager would call us twice, but so far fas not in two days. Imagine our 78 year old father and 76 year old mother trying to walk up a snow covered driveway with a 13% grade. So sad as we have been with Elements for over 20 years. Can you give zero stars? Unfriendly staff and terrible service. Girlfriend is a local nurse and when calling about 2 days of missed service following 40" of snow, Julie the supposed managers response was "you should listen to recording and stay in town". Ya Julie I'll stay at my other house in town, no problem, why didn't I think of that. I forgot my fantasy 2nd home has a heated driveway and then I can probably just take my hovercraft to work too. Elements continually fails to meet their contract obligations. If you work in town and need to get in and out of your home, look elsewhere for snow removal because Elements is not coming. Elements decided not to clear driveways on Tuesday. No problem (I realize these guys have been overworked and needed a break). However, they didn't bother to notify us until 3 PM, more than 12 hours after they made the decision. Therefore, I shoveled half the driveway to get out. It was a lot of work, but I was patient and understanding. The next day, the plow operator pushed then left a mound of in front of my garage door that was snow 20" deep starting 10' from the door. It would have been easier to get out if he hadn't plowed at all. When I called to let Elements know, Julie, the manager, clearly did not care. A neighbor switched to Estabrook and could not be happier. Time to switch. read more

This is our second time getting our driveway sealing service done by Elements. We were just thinking that it looked like it was time to do it again, and they e-mailed us suggesting the same a day or two later. Mind readers! It took less than 24 hours to get a quote, which was very fair compared to what neighbors paid other outfits. The service was scheduled about three weeks out. No moral values. My car was broken into one night, doors left open and garage open. When they came to plow, they didn't even bother to knock on the door or give us a call to let us know. When I called them, the receptionist stated "We're not about to get out of our plow and do that kind of work" Work? Or just common courtesy that takes 5 minutes of time? We decided to cancel our contract because they refused to remove snow around our cars and not just the little bit of driveway that's clear. which the contract states they would remove snow around cars and doesn't specify it HAS to be done with a plow. The only redeeming quality is the fact we got refunded since without removing snow around cars it is useless. I appreciate the refund and the speedy customer service. read more

This Company successfully monopolized snow removal in Tahoe Donner and now provides the absolute worst service possible. They are constantly quoting there contract about coming once a day and not coming unless it snows 4" or more. But they can't seem to preform under those lightweight commitments. We haven't had our driveway plowed since the December storms and that was only after all the snow had fallen. We blow ourselves out through most of the storm. We have a 4" to 6" of packed snow and ice for the last 2 months. And because they announced they are not coming we will have another 6" of new snow to packed over old snow. This company is completely ethically challenged. I pray that an ethical company will emerge to compete with this fake marketing, shame of a company. House Staining Review. We used Elements to re-stain our house this past summer. We've had the house stained multiple times in the 22 years we've owned it. I have to say that the Elements crew did the best and most thourgh staining job we've ever had. They paied attention to little details such as repainting the flashings. They even did the stairs and deck which saved me a days work in the fall doing that. The crew was polite and professional in their work, they were careful when pressure washing so we had no leakage into the house. It wasn't the cheapest price around but the value for money was certainly there. read more

I have never had anything but AMAZING interactions with Elements. They do just about everything at our place right now; driveway sealing, snow plow service this past season, quotes for defensible space, and now I am getting into possibly having them freshen up our paint this spring. The prices are reasonable and competitive for the area, the customer service is INSANELY good. I've sent them a couple emails over the past year, and I get replies at 5am and almost 11pm all the time. They are all over it. Lindsey usually replies, and she is just a rockstar on every single request or dumb 5am question I've ever sent them. I was also super happy with the snow clearing this season. They never missed a day, every morning they send out super helpful scheduling notes which include a detailed report of snow accumulation in the local area and when they will be where, etc. Top notch. read more

I think Elements snow removal service had some hiccups in their transition from Snowtech/Waltman's to the combined company. I would give their snow plow service 3-stars for winter of 2017-2018. I contemplated not renewing with them this year because of the disappointing reliability last year. For the first couple months of storms in 2018-2019, I would give them 5-stars. I think they've made some improvements to operations and added more equipment. The plows have been doing a great job clearing the driveway per the contract-level expected service. Of course, huge storms in the middle of the winter will slow down the plows some, but that is to be expected. read more

Management non responsive and basically takes the " sorry to hear about your concerns" attitude. Buried my propane tank several time when plowing the driveway, even after calls to stop doing it. I was told by staff that they have trouble communicating with their drivers because they speak another language. Suburban Propone company sent notice that they intended to deliver propane in the the next few days. They won't delivery if tank is under snow. I was told by Matt at Elements to hire someone to dig it out or do it yourself. Customers are never right at Elements. read more

Came up on a Friday after a 13 hour ride from the Bay Area to find an unplowed driveway. At 9:30 my husband had to plow by hand so we could get up drive. I emailed, left voice mails and even spoke to someone on the phone Saturday morning. It is 5:58 pm on Saturday and not a soul has come to plow. I have 10 guest at my home to ski, who are not able to park in my driveway. Absolutely unacceptable!!!! I'm giving 1 star because I need to in order to continue. Update: they finally showed up on Sunday afternoon, ridiculous! Then, I get a voicemail from Thomas saying maybe there is an issue with the incorrect address. Hmm, he cashed my check and didn't have an issue and I spoke to the office directly and gave my address. I was told they would get someone right over. Interesting at best. read more

The worst! It is snowing like mad, there are feet of snow in my driveway, we paid $850 for plow service and Elements refuses to come to plow our driveway. They will only plow "premium" customers today. We have to wait at least a full day during which time we can't leave the house. I even offered to pay for a premium upgrade, but they still refused. I offered to pay extra for one-time plowing. They still refused. We have been using them for years, but since they became a monopoly, their service has become abysmal. My daughter is stuck at work and I can't pick her up thanks to these guys. I explained my situation and their only advice was to buy a shovel -- literally. Please don't hire these guys. Unreliable and now very pricey. Just got a quote for next year...the day after they came and pulled the guide poles...A 45% increase (!) over a year that service was not what we'd call "premium." Worst costumer service, worst service I've ever experienced. There excuse was theyd plow once the roads were plowed, our road was plowed by the town and two days later they showed up and basically did nothing new that hadn't been done by myself and my snowblower. In fact they did half my driveway (that was snow blown by me) once they showed up and didn't touch where we park our cars. They won't answer emails or phone calls. Complete lack of professionalism. We sat here and watch other plow services drive right by us working on neighbors driveways while they claimed they couldn't make it up here. I have used Elements Mountain for snow plowing my driveway in winter and seal coating my asphalt driveway in summer. They merged with Waltman, who I used for many years before that. They have provided excellent service with both plowing and driveway sealing and really stepped up in the big winters with a lot of snow! They keep me informed with daily emails, the drivers are good, they communicate well and are very responsive. They produce Mountain Minutes videos to keep me informed on important aspects of their service. They also do deck staining, defensible space trimming, and other services. read more

I hope everyone is aware that Waltman Construction AND Elements (formerly Snowtech) were recently sued for PRICE FIXING snow removal costs in Tahoe Donner. They "settled" the lawsuit, which probably means they can claim they "did not do anything wrong." Ha. We know what it means. The lawsuit states the Waltman/Elements agreed to fix pricing as well as start/end dates for the snowplow season. They had a minimum price for driveways. Read details below. There are incriminating emails, and etc. I know they settled out of court because I was a customer for a few years, and got a settlement offer (of $30 whole dollars). What a joke. But more importantly, I took my business away from them years ago, and will obviously NOT be going back for snow plowing, house staining, asphalt repair, or anything else these guys do. Just not a cool thing to be price fixing, much less in your own neighborhood. NOT COOL. They should be ashamed. There's enough snow to be plowed by everyone. I also happen to know that a third (small) local snowplow business (who now does have my business) was basically told by Elements that he would be "crushed" if he tried to compete in Tahoe Donner. Well...he's doing a fine job for me, at $100 less AND until whenever the snow stops. Yeah. Now that's service.
