For parents who have a busy schedule during the week are going to appreciate the fact that your child can go to ballet dance on a weekend. The school has instructors who are professional dancers and not only professional dancers but outstanding teachers. I can only review this school in regards to children classes. The school offers trial lessons and allows the parents to sit in the room for the first time coming to a class. This was especially great because our daughter is a bit shy and sensitive. The teacher Franziska was very nice, welcoming and treated our daughter very respectfully. When she noticed that our daughter was close to tears, the instructor did not make a fuss nor did she draw attention to her but instead guided her calmly on her side. I was amazed how well she interacted with the children. The class consisted of approx. 10 girls (at that time we were there) and takes place once a week for 60 minutes. The payments are paid monthly. The payments are lower than other classes in our neighborhood. The school has several dance studios, with mirrors and equipment used for ballet lessons. The girls wear the same outfits that must be purchased at a local store. All girls at the class were treated respectfully and kind by the teacher and really enjoyed the class. The location is a bit tricky. It is located on Kurfürstendamm in a shopping mall (Karree). On the entrance is a big house number 207/208. The school is on the second floor. Once you enter the building, the access to the elevators/school is on the right side. You will be able to find a business directory. From there, there are elevators that get you to the school. So it is a bit hidden. I recommend this school for little ballerinas and possibly even for adults who are interested in professional dancing.

I signed my 17 year old daughter up for two weeks of beginning German at City College. On the…read morefirst day, after having completed the language test, she was put in a German class that far exceeded her abilities. That was frustrating but a small inconvenience. However, she did tell the staff she was feeling ill and felt she had a fever. They were dismissive of her(didn't even have a thermometer to check) and essentially brushed her off. Day 2 she came up positive with Covid. Thank god I was still in town. The woman in charge of student health was much more interested in defending her position(why she didn't help my sick child) than having any concern for her well being. This staff person should not be anywhere near education or young people. What a horrible person. My daughter has attended numerous summer camps and is very independent, this was not "In her head". As an educator I also know a well run program when I see one. Parents, you have been warned.

I find the school leadership and administration professional and passionate about delivering excellent education and creating an ethos of kindness and compassion. I also find they are very willing to receive parental feedback and thoughtfully consider ideas brought forward. My children have learned a great deal in the six months they have been at BMS, as well they have developed strong bonds with their teachers and classmates. I highly recommend BMS!

My experience dates back to 2015. At the time, my daughter was 5 years old. She spoke English when…read moreshe arrived in Berlin after having lived in the United States, but she did not speak German yet. Her integration into this school was extremely difficult: she was bullied by classmates to the point of crying, in front of teachers who did not appear to intervene or take the situation seriously. I also felt that the teaching staff was not trained to support English-speaking or bilingual children. There seemed to be very little consideration for children in this situation (and not all of them are necessarily English speakers). We were even called in and told that our daughter should repeat the year. We refused, and in hindsight, I believe this recommendation had more to do with class organization and enrollment management than with her actual academic abilities. The following year, after moving to another school, my daughter actually skipped a grade. This clearly showed that neither her intellectual level nor her maturity had been the issue; the only difficulty was that she had not yet acquired German. My impression is that this school is not truly designed to support bilingual children or children newly arriving in a German-speaking environment, but rather to serve affluent German families who want their children to learn English. Finally, the tuition fees are extremely high and, in my view, do not reflect the quality or the type of activities offered by the school.
