Front desk staff was super friendly and informative. The museum itself isn't very big and I Probably took about 30 minutes to view it. Id say the admission although suggested was definitely worth it. For me though Id say the architecture of the building itself both inside and out was more interesting to me than the exhibits themselves. Who knew Staten Island had such a good little museum? I look forward to coming here and again and will check their listings of events often.

I am happy to have their teachings! Besides learning that this area of New York city had a terra-cotta factory & a Bubble Gum Factory. We learn about the businesses that employed the locals and the goods that Americans could enjoy! As well as the after effects of industry , environment and public health. Erasure poetry was clever. I had never heard of it before. Taking the pages of a book written by Robert Richard Randall. He was a shipmaster who was very kind to build buildings to house the sailors who worked their lives on boats and had absolutely no money , no housing and no financial security. So now this building has become a museum. Environmental fiber arts exhibit was pretty appropriate. This artist have woven plastics into amazing sculptures. Fascinating. Sad that recycling efforts are so low. So much non biodegradable mater. We could do better if we get outraged enough to contact officials to make a change. You will learn how they succeeded in the past with women activists that were able to ultimately clean up Fresh Kills area! Beautiful nature now. The staff recommended a stroll. I saw the statue of the founder of this building. Homage to such a kind man. The garden outside was a nice. I really recommend coming here. If I had my ukelele. This place was a delight in many many ways .

Watching their reactions to experiencing the big city and its tall buildings is always amusing. There are usually all types of events happening during this week - International Naval Review and parade of ships, ship tours which offer the public opportunities to tour military vessels at designated piers around New York harbor. and a variety of performances and concerts. The first official Fleet Week began in New York City in 1982 and is normally timed to coincide with the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them,and they were left to care for themselves. In their misery, some of these veterans banded together and formed organizations with what would become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. By 1915, membership grew to 5,000; by 1936, membership was almost 200,000.

Below the U.S. and Ukrainian flags out front, the New York City #StandwithUkraine does not fully prepare you for the moving images that await! Entrance to UIA requires only a donation. Within this beautiful landmark building, adjacent to painted Ukrainian Easter Eggs you'll find moving "Fallen Artists of Ukraine: In Memoriam," telling each story to remember them, who they were. In that same hall, a signed flag by the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhians Reconnaissance Platoon on October 25, 2023. In the 3rd Floor outstanding "SAINTS" exhibit, (on until March 30th and hopefully extended,) amazing large format photo portraits by Sasha Maslov present other heroes. The shared description of what makes each special adjoin exceptional images, breathtaking down to the pores in their faces. Please pass on this review to call attention to UIA's honor to those individuals and Ukraine's struggle for freedom, defending themselves against Russia's invasion! Having purchased the building in 1955, it now also has a floor with painted Ukrainian historical portraits, as well as exhibits highlighting Ukrainian artists and William Dzus, a Founder and Benefactor of UIA, who invented self-locking fasteners used in airplane construction. The Ukrainian Institute of America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the art, music, and literature and the Ukrainian diaspora. It hosts cultural events and is open to the public for visits to see the building and their exhibits. (It's free to visit but they appreciate and suggest donations!) The Institute is housed within a beautiful UES mansion; it's worth a visit alone to see the building! Gorgeous. They also had several interesting exhibits when we were there: "Alexander Archipenko: The Augustin and Maria Sumyk Collection," "Vasyl Diadyniuk: Historical Portraits," "Teura: An Intimate Portrait of Sofia Yablonska," and "The Pysanka: A Symbol of Hope." I really enjoyed our visit. The exhibits were interesting, and I felt like I learned a bit about Ukraine, its history, its culture, and the Ukrainian diaspora even over a short visit. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

MoSA (Located inside citizenM New York Bowery)…read more189 Bowery New York, NY 10002 This graffiti museum is mysteriously hidden inside the stairwell of the citizenM New York Bowery hotel. To locate this museum, check in with the front desk clerk. They will escort you to the elevator and will use a card to bring you to the rooftop level. When exiting the elevator, you will proceed through a door labeled "Stair A." When you are in the stairwell, you will then walk down 20 flights of stairs. (Important: as soon as you are in the stairwell, you cannot re-enter the rooftop floor.) The entire walls are adorned with magnificent artwork. The pictorials are professionally painted and look very realistic. It is evident the graffiti artists have a keen eye for detail and take pride in their work. There are a variety of illustrations to view such as chess pieces, electronic devices, celebrities, buildings, and word art. As a bonus, all visitors may create their own tagging on the black wall, located on the final stairway before exiting the museum. The only minor downside is that the guests must bring their own art supplies. This is the only section in MoSA where drawing or writing is permitted. When you are next in the Bowery neighborhood and have an hourish to spare, definitely stop by and explore this hidden gem!
