This church is very…read morefamily focused, worship was dynamic/creative, and the sermon was Biblically sound with a balance of challenge and encouragement. I will say, it's not first-time focused. I was alone, and didn't have anyone greet me or come ask me my name. I came early and even hung around at the end to see if there were any circles of people my age or just women or people in general to talk to, and no one made eye contact or tried to find out who I was so I felt pretty bummed. But also it was just a first visit so I guess I can't make a full judgement unless I were to give it a few chances. But overall, it's worth checking out.

I had been looking for a new church in the area, and decided to visit based on the recommendation…read moreof a couple of friends. The good - a couple of super friendly parking attendants who gave directions, etc. Another good is the pastor did teach very much from scripture, John 5: 23-29. He gave a lot of Greek language understanding, which I appreciated. The needs of improvement. Once I got into the auditorium, it was well less than half full when music started. That is perhaps a peeve of mine. As a member, you know when it starts - be ready, be prepared. I'm a pretty outgoing guy, but no one spoke to me once in the building - No One. I sat down behind some folks, aside of others - No One spoke at all. My cologne isnt so bad as to cause no one to sit close or even speak. It was Palm Sunday, Jesus' Triumphal Entry of Christ to Jerusalem. The first song had absolutely NO "umph" or excitement to kick off a worship service - none, and it didn't get much better from there. I'd say less than half the worshipers were singing at all. We have an amazing savior to praise - to relish in worship. Not the case on my visit here. The pastor, though sticking with the text - John 5 - and giving the Greek words - gave almost no illustrations, stories or application. I'm happy about your recent trip to the holy land, but please tell me how it helps here in N Atl. Perhaps as a former pastor, having gone to conferences all over the country, I'm a tough critic. As i continue my search i doubt i will be back. I am looking for exciting spirit filled worship, contagious Christianity. I'm longing to find solid biblical teaching, but with application also sincerely, Scott

I was 7. He was 15 at the time - what boy is that sweet to the random little girl his mom invites to stay on their couch while her mom unpacks? This guy. Our families spent every Christmas night dinner together from then through I was in college. So many memories. . . Anyway, I was so impressed by this small little church (seating for like 300-400 compared to the much bigger Peachtree Rd United Methodist where I belong and grew up going) mostly because of the - VERY young, like maybe 30- female minister who did the verbal parts of the service. I would definitely want to hear a regular sermon from her. It's not my neighborhood, but I would go back she was that good. Parking is a little tight and this is an older church as far as the "downstairs" room where foodstuffs are traditionally served, etc, but the choir minister and organist were also talented and it's definitely a church I'd recommend if you need one in this area.

Spiritual growth is dependent on your own choice of seeking the LORD in all things, and they certainly promote that! The music and worship is incredible, the opportunities for children and their personal growth is awesome, and the teaching was spot-on. There LORD certainly provided us with this church body at the time we all needed it.

I was back in town for the holidays and my family suggested visiting for their Christmas Eve service. I thought that sounded nice, until I visited their website's "Leadership" page and saw over 10 "pastors" and "elders" that all look the same. Apparently women or people of color are not chosen for leadership positions, although I would bet money that women are the ones doing a lot of the actual work there. To have this demographic profile of leadership isn't that surprising for an evangelical church, but advertising it so plainly on the website seems almost aggressive. Anyway, as a woman (in a leadership position no less!) I didn't want to attend a place that doesn't seem to respect me. I don't remember JFBC being so obviously sexist when I attended in the past, so not sure if they've changed with pastor Chad, or if it's always been this way.
