    Corn dog and fries
    Jen J.

Decided to try this restaurant today. Drove over 30 minutes to do so. Placed my order of chicken and dressing yams mac & cheese chicken strips and fries. Was told that it would be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. I went back in at 18 minutes and I was told that they did not have chicken strips and that they tried to catch me before I left but I was only in the parking lot. So I changed my order to corn dogs and french fries. Waited another 20 to 25 minutes to get my meal. There was no rush and or no awareness of how long I've been waiting for this food. Once I got home the cornbread dressing was NOT done...absolutely inedible the cornbread on the side was dry and I am upset that I have wasted my time and money trying this restaurant that everyone is raving about. if I could give a zero I would. Hopefully the rest of their menu is done and is ready to eat once ordered

Fried chicken wings & fried catfish.

Four of us enjoyed Elisha's for a late lunch, early dinner. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Very clean with an at home feeling. Our waitress was courteous, friendly & helpful in her suggestions. The food was excellent. Two of us had the fried chicken wings, which were crunchy while maintaining their juiciness. Hubby had the fried catfish with our fourth person had grilled catfish. Both said their fish tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. All of us enjoyed our sides...Mac & cheese, fried okra and mixed greens! We will go back!!

Oh man oh man, this isn't your momma's cooking (no offense moms) but this is your grandmommas cooking. Yes yes yes. This is where you need to go if you want actual MADE FROM SCRATCH food. It is so dang good. Definitely my favorite hidden gem in Marshall!

I love to find hidden gems when I'm traveling and this place was amazing!! The food was incredible and the staff was very friendly! I will definitely be back next time I drive thru Marshall!

    Lunch portion size

Went for lunch on a business trip in Marshall, the service was mediocre. The food came out hot and good portion sizes however the mac&cheese tasted like mushy Kraft out the box, hot water cornbread was hard and not done on the inside. Fish, smothered pork chops and chicken fried steak were all really good. Sweet tea was on point. The chairs you sit in ( I wish I would have taken a pic) were absolutely disgusting we almost left before even sitting down.

Chicken fried steak. Macaroni and cheese and onion rings with cornbread. Awesome

This was really good homemade soul food. You could tell this was family-owned, and everything was made from scratch, and they really take pride in their restaurant. I would go here again anytime for a home cooked freshly made meal.

This is the newest Soul Food place in Marshall currently. We have been twice so far. The first time I got a good fried pork chop and J got roast. We both got greens as a side and Hot Water Cornbread and they were tasty. The second visit we each got a huge bowl of greens and 2 cornbreads and this was delicious so we will get it again. The atmosphere is huge in there and bland otherwise. Good prices mostly under $15. No Diet Dr Pepper. Friendly service. We will be back.

    Smothered Pork Chops

This was an amazing stop! Driving through...saw it on yelp and it was truly all it said it was. Nothing fancy but the food!! Perfect setting for the delish home cooked meal. Waitress was happy and very sweet. My husband had the fried pork chop, mashed taters, and field peas. No complaints there! Down right good! He ate every bite! I had the smothered pork chop, turnip greens, and field peas. Oh and the hot water cornbread! I actually ordered boiled cornbread lol. This was seasoned perfectly. This meal felt like I was home and Momma had been cooking all day for us. We brought some bread pudding for the road! Looks delish...and that little package feels like a brick!! Seriously the best restaurant home cooking I have had. And that says a lot. Elisha can cook. Stop by and enjoy some of her Food for the Soul.

Whenever we're on the drive to home, we make it a point to stop by for catfish and the works. They're always friendly and the food is great.

Chicken fried chicken was juicy and properly seasoned and the best we'd ever had. Ditto for the green beans and the okra. She wouldn't tell us what she puts in the green beans, but it's some combination of bacon grease and magic, I swear. The okra was fresh cut, fresh battered, fresh fried, unlike every other place I get it where you can tell it's out of a bag. Hot water cornbread was ah-mazing. I only wish I had honey to slather on it along with the butter. White gravy was fantastic, with just a hint of sweetness we couldn't quite put our finger on. Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes were delicious, but also the only things I can say were on par with some of our other favorites. Prices are extremely reasonable. And the service is as down home and personal as you would expect at a place like Sylvia Mae's. But don't expect quick delivery of your food. No ambiance to speak of but the vibe outside is themed with a colorful cat. Over all it was ok a little disappointing honestly to my taste buds but maybe I ordered wrong ... I was told the pork chops are the big hitter here- but as a fan of Nola and souther cooking I had high expectations. They have their own way of ordering here, they have an every day menu and different specials everyday, so make sure you check the menu before cause they don't offer some things everyday. we got fried chicken , Mac n cheese , corn bread, cabbage, and greens - our plates came over rice and gravy. And the peanut butter cake for dessert. To me the flavor was lacking, the chicken was fried well but I can understand why they don't serve it daily, cabbage and greens were basic no peppers or onion I could see, the Mac and cheese was just terrible. It was watery and sweet idk what was going on there but I'm not for it. Corn bread was southern. The best part was hands down the peanut butter cake. The cake itself was simple and a little dry but the frosting saved it with a rich and sweet peanut butter flavor and nice creamy consistency. I'd probably come back for dessert but not for food...
