They were helpful in getting me on my previous regiment meds that had been pretty successful for the last few years. They did have me take a cognitive assessment test for ADHD even though I had already been taking meds for that. They also made me get an EKG, a bloodwork panel, and the strangest one to me was an eight panel drug test. the EKG turned into having to get $1000 echocardiogram, for an anomaly, that potentially has no effect upon my health. The cognitive assessment was about an hour and a half and pretty intense and seemed very abstract to assess someone's diagnosis of ADHD trying to memorize strange shapes made of colors that all look exactly the same and then having to try and remember them 10 minutes later. It was also a $200 Test. So establishing care there has been quite expensive expensive and I will follow up with more information. Once I have my second appointment at this point I would recommend be aware of the amount of work that they make you do whereas my previous psychiatrist had me do just some bloodwork, and none of that other stuff.

He will know if something is troubling you and try to get to the root of it right away. He would have been a blessing for me in my teen and early twenties when I lived in Michigan. I could have prevented a lot of bad decisions and would have been encouraged to pursue my dreams and personal aspirations. His waiting area and office are also inviting and pleasant to the eye, with warm colours and cozy surroundings. Like the doctor himself, it's calm and inviting. That said, Dr. Patel has been a very good psychiatrist for me. He is compassionate, listens, and gives much needed advice. What people need to remember is that what a psychiatrist usually does is work with a patient and their medication(s) only. Psychiatrists normally don't provide therapy. I do not see Dr. Patel for therapy, simply for medicine management. Even so, he does take time to talk to me. He is a kind man. He has helped me tremendously when I needed help. If I need his assistance between appointments, I call and am able to speak with his assistant, who speaks with Dr. Patel. If necessary, an appointment is scheduled for me right away. I always feel cared for. Additionally, the staff at his office, Florida Behavioral Medicine, are all friendly and helpful, even when they are overworked with answering the phones, checking people in, checking people out and answering questions from people coming in and out. Florida Behavioral Medicine is a multi-doctor practice and sometimes the lobby may be a bit hectic. But I am always checked in before my appointment time, although at times patience is a virtue. Regardless of how busy the entire practice is, I usually see Dr. Patel on time and sometimes earlier than my scheduled time. I tend to show up for appointments early - that's just who I am. Dr. Patel is the most effective psychiatrist I have ever had, and just believe me, that is really saying a lot.

They do not respond to urgent voicemails, ignore faxes and calls from the pharmacy, and this happens every cycle. He requires a visit every 60 days, but they schedule past the 60 days. I believe this practice of ignoring patients who are having to stop taking medicines that warnings say DO NOT suddenly stop taking medicine is malpractice and a call to our lawyer is next after writing reviews to let people know to never ever use this DR. He is bad news, period. Or his office staff, but the buck stops at the top, and hard to blame a horrible team if the DR does not care. The past few years with Dr. Ashtok Patel has been a repeating nightmare from day one.

I do not feel safe in Pinellas County - and am literally fleeing to New York State. It is currently 5:56AM EST on 6.17.2026 and I  called the PSCO and they transferred me to the Clearwater Police Department as they said it was their jurisdiction. The person I spoke with at 5:38AM EST on June 17th of 2026 gave the identification number of  2684 and told me she was 'done with this conversation' when I asked her what my rights were as a Pinellas County Resident to be able to leave the property with my belongings without the fear of being subjected to violence or the threat of a Baker Act. She stated that "It's not my job to know, but it sounds like it is yours". 4. Dr. Randall - this is when I placed a call to your office at 5:43AM EST on June 17th of 2026 to further establish that I am not in an agitated state, my thought processes are coherent.  The woman I spoke with said that she would escalate the matter to the oncall doctor and we hung up at 5:50AM EST on June 17th 2026. My husband and counselor insisted I give the consult a chance. I am forever grateful for that loving nudge. I was 27 years old and suffered from Depression & anxiety when I started my treatments. Anyone who experiences depression or has witnessed a loved one go through it. Understands the very private plea for help. My circumstances were pretty dire due to PTSD from the military, and past trauma from my childhood. The six week treatments I received, and at Advantage Heath, gave me a fighting chance again in my life. Two weeks into my treatment and I started to FEEL a difference in myself. If you know anything about depression it is that you tend to feel hopeless and numb. I had suffered with depression and anxiety for over a year and it was causing my gut to malfunction.
