I'm so glad I was able to attend this event! I love going to art museums and this immersive experience was so unlike any normal museum visit! Of the three sections of the event my favorite was definitely the immersion room. Being completely surrounded by dynamic versions of these iconic pieces of art was incredibly moving. It's crazy to think of what Van Gogh would think if he could see how much of an impact his art is still having on people to this day! Thank you to the organizers and Michael for this opportunity!

So excited I got to go to this event! I knew it would be a great experience! I learned so much about the artist whose life was so tragic but who had so much talent! His famous work starry night was painted while he was in an asylum that he self admitted himself to! I've always loved that painting and now it has so much more meaning to me knowing that! The immersion experience was one that whoever thought of it was a genius! To see Van Gogh's art literally come to life in the huge space of walls and floors at the Convention center was amazing! It was ever changing and so much to see all around you! Every wall was different so be sure to move around so you don't miss anything! The colors and music were mesmerizing and I loved every minute of it! Definitely a once, or even a twice in a lifetime event you must experience! We were given an hour to see the over 300 works of art but I could have stayed longer! Thank you Yelp for a fun evening event! It was fun to see so many of my Yelp friends too! I bought a beautiful flowered mouse pad for work to remind me of this night!

One of the best elite yelp events I have been to! Super easy to park, very easy to find, quick and easy checkin, no yelp swag ( I'm not a big swag fan ) , people were Paced out (spread out) and not on top of each other, Overall very comfortable! This event was outstanding! Great job yelp team!!

Gorgeous experience with an informative history lesson on the life of Vincent Van Gogh. Learning about his experiences, struggles and relationships makes his already breathtaking art have more meaning. And Beyond Van Gogh absolutely delivered this. His work was separated into three rooms. The first room showcased his story and eloquent quotes on his artwork. The second room is the waterfall room where a projection light falls down from the ceiling to the floor in a cascading wave. The last room is the biggest and most well known- a 360 view of Vincent's work alternating in a 37 min cycle. This showed the evolution of Van Gogh's work along with portraits of people in his life. Everything was picturesque, but the room can be quite crowded. I honestly think an hour is enough to explore the entire exhibit, but to appreciate it might take longer. All I know is Beyond Van Gogh has opened my eyes to one of the most famous artists in a way that's never been done before.

What a treat! Getting to see Van Gogh's work from this close was a great experience. The event had a set up,of 3 rooms. The first one, we walk through different paintings that told us about Va Gogh's life trajectory and well as his professional life and work. From there, the second room, the waterfall, it was awesome to see his style of painting coming down the walls just like a water fall, and suddenly the shapes turn into his face. That's was very unique and only took about 5 minutes. The 3rd and last room was a great 37minutes of seeing Van Gogh's work all around you. It was like being inside his paintings. They did a great job on the transition from one work to the next, not to mention the choice of audio throughout the show. On the way out they also had some souvenirs for purchase, that I made sure to grab some for my mother, who happens to be an art teacher that thought me so much about many artists, including her favorite Van Gogh :)

We had heard the buzz about this event for months and were eagerly awaiting it's arrival. It was an honor to be able to preview the Reno event! Parking was easy and pleasant and the entrance to the Event was marked outside at several locations. The Convention Center looks vast from the outside so parking at the wrong side can mean a long walk, so this was helpful! There is a selfie photo spot at the event door, if that's your thing! Groups are queued outside the main room for a bit of info (no food or drinks, no touching the screens) before you walk into the primary room. This introduction to Van Gogh gave a glimpse into his life and was as beautiful as it was informative! The main room is the immersive experience and was 360 degrees of stunning images! Animating the art to make it flow all around you was almost overwhelmingly beautiful. Any lover of art would likely recognize many of Van Gogh's more well known works, but it was a treat to see a vast representation of his work that most people may not be as familiar with. Quite honestly, his style comes shining thru in all of his paintings, and the way they were put together for the visuals was thoughtful and coherent. Cheers to the team of talented computer artists that designed the overall visual show and added the effects! The immersive experience can be viewed by standing or sitting on a few benches inside, but we enjoyed walking around the spacious room, as it really changed the perspective. Overall, we left as though the music could have been about 20% less loud, because it made the added narrations hard to hear. Lovers of art or just anyone looking for a unique outing or date night would enjoy Beyond Van Gogh. We contemplated buying tickets for our kids (ages 10 & 12) and they might appreciate it but at a run time of close to 45 min, I wouldn't suggest it for young children and saw several littles touching the screens...a no-no IMO. Also, the end of the event empties into a massive gift shop, so be prepared to see lots of stuff you'll have a hard time resisting!

I was a bit skeptical of Beyond Van Gogh when going in. I wanted to scope it out for friends and family who mentioned going. I did not realize there would be three rooms. I enjoyed the first room though I felt a little rushed trying to read all the panels. I did find the panels beautifully done. I thought some of the writing was pedestrian. Between the information given about Van Gogh's life/brother/hopes and going 'beyond' the prestige of his name to the man behind the canvas, I felt it was a little incoherent when viewing the next two rooms compared to the writing that hyped them up. I loved the setup of the room and found the hanging frames a nice way to separate the panels to form a line for viewing. The second room fell flat for me. I liked the idea of a waterfall room. It just didn't feel Van Gogh to me... The third and final room being an immersion into Van Gogh's work was fun in its presentation. I did not love the "drawn introductions" someone tried to make for Van Gogh's paintings, like that of the starry night. I think it was nice exposure to other paintings of his that are lesser known. Seeing his work transform from his early days to that of the different brush strokes that came later in life was fascinating. I did not care for the spoken audio. It can be unintelligible at times and therefore, just a background distraction. I do wish there had been more seating. The floor is great, for those of us who can get down there. The immersion room was enjoyable but I wouldn't say I was left entranced or that it brought forth emotional investment in me. Overall, I think this is interesting in concept but the execution fell short for me. It is certainly not your 'crusty-dusty' museum exhibit style, though I felt like it was forced and missed the mark for me.

What an incredible experience! The life story of Van Gogh told through personal letters, set to the backdrop of his works was an experience. I have been wanting to attend this show for months and am so happy that Yelp Elite squad gave me the opportunity. It was moving and beautiful.

What a great journey to experience. Both sad and beautiful. Sad from being reminded of Van Gogh's life struggles; but, what a beautiful display of art. Full of splendor and wonder. I really enjoyed the walk through to read through the timeline of Van Gogh's life. Then, the waterfall room was absolutely amazing. I am in awe of how the immersion took place. The facilitators really did a great job with set up and flow and the convention center was the perfect venue with ample parking. #BeyondVanGogh #GoghBeyond #YelpReno @YelpReno @BeyondVanGogh

What an overwhelming beautiful experience. I've been a fan of Van Gogh since a young kid, it was fun to read through his life history and see his sweet relationship with his brother unfold. Each of the 3 rooms held a special experience: the history walk through was beautiful and informative; the waterfall room gave you a calm moment for your eyes to get used to the dark; the large room was fantastic and fun and made me want to dance through the exhibit. It was a quiet and calm experience that let your senses engage in ways we don't normally do!

I am such a sucker for all things art and museums. So being able to go to Beyond Van Gogh will forever now be something special apart of my heart that I can say I actually saw. Going for another yelp elite event, bringing my 2 year old son and a friend to experience with me, and seeing all the other awesome yelp elites in this community is just added to the experience. There was only 3 rooms to the experience: Van Gogh's story & quotes The Waterfall room 360 room of Van Gogh's artwork. If I'm being honest, my favorite part of this whole experience had to be the quotes, one of them being: "..find things beautiful as much as you can, most people find too little beautiful". I only say it being my favorite part as I took the quotes Van Gogh said and related into my own personal life and I think that really set the bar of the experience for me. The Waterfall room was actually really cool too if you stood there long enough to see the art fall through from the wall and onto the floor. My son loved that part. Lastly of course.. the 360 room was completely breathtaking . Personally sitting on the floor and seeing it all around makes it even better.. in my opinion. Overall, Beyond Van Gogh is something I think everyone in Reno Sparks should checkout because it is only here for limited time, and with Reno being already such an art town, this is a must. Whether its with the family, with a friend, or a S/O (which I think is such a great date idea!) Thank you Yelp for giving me the opportunity to experience this and for the staff at Beyond Van Gogh for making this special preview a smooth process & being so awesome.

    Kevin S.

It was a great audio/visual experience. Big room was the best, make sure to keep walking around and looking in all directions. Do not drink, smoke anything before you go in, the venue has several times where the floor will be moving from the video! Staff was great! If you're into art this is the place.

    Nikki C.

The Beyond Van Gogh was a different approach to appreciating art. In a way, it made the art come to life with the music and movements. It was cool to be in a room completely surrounded by his work. It was a unique experience that I have not experienced here in Reno so I was pleased to have had the opportunity as an Elite to be able to see this exhibit. I have to admit, at first, I wasn't too into it. Call me old fashioned but I like going to museum where it's quiet and I can sit in front of a painting and get lost in it. This was not like that. There were a lot of people around chit chatting and kids running about. But I understand that this is more of an interactive experience and I can appreciate that. Thank you to all involved that put this event together.

That didn't matter because the waitress took my plate before I was all thru. Claudy and I ordered each of the desserts. Both were very sweet. The place wasn't packed during lunch, but I did feel rushed. Saturday!! Oh no RBW is over. The fabulous finale is always the Chef Showdown. This year 6 chefs who participated in RBW sliced, diced and sautéed against each other for bragging rights of the best in Reno. They an hour to create a vegetarian plate using butternut squash, couscous, turmeric and pomegranate. Mmm the aromas that filled the air. The best part is you get to walk around all the kitchens and see how they cook and ask questions. Brett Moseley won best use of ingredients and Joe Bell won best plating and overall WINNER. Congrats to everyone!!! Now after two weeks of having so many fabulous food specials with lots of friends- I'm off to the gym. See you next year. Or in any locally owned restaurant. Remember- Break the Chain, Reno has fabulous food.

This year was the 7th Annual Reno Bites Restaurant Week, however for me, it was my very first…read moreparticipating in it. It was two weeks of absolute fun as my room mates and I made an effort to visit as many restaurants as we possibly could. I already made separate reviews for all the places we dined at for the Reno Bites Restaurant Week, but just in case you missed it, we visited: Liberty Food and Wine Exchange, Chihuahua's Cantina and Grill, Skyline Kitchen and Vine, Sierra St. Kitchen, Moo Dang, Shore Room, and lastly Fin and Filet. Of course, I would have loved to try them all out, but there's only so much we could visit with work and what not. I love food and I love to eat. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert, I love them all. Not to mention there are countless restaurants and new ones keep popping up. With Reno Bites Restaurant Week, there are those selected and highlighted restaurants advertising their specials for those two weeks, making it very appealing to want to try them out. I, personally, was able to dine at many restaurants that I always wanted to try out, but never got the chance to. It was not just the food, but the experience as a whole. For those selected restaurants, it was great exposure and they were able to showcase a little taste of what they were about. And for us, it was fun and delicious experience. Unfortunately, we missed the Chef Showdown because we were out of town for the weekend. But, there's always next year and many years to come. Overall, this being my first ever Reno Bites, I have to say I loved every minute of it. Prices were very affordable and the foods were all so tasty. Sad to think we'll have to wait a whole year until the next one rolls around, but when it does finally come, I'll be ready!

What a better way to…read morespend a Sunday Funday then with my family at home eating Mother's Day Brunch, sipping on Aperol Spritzers, while listening to CM Michael T and Vania of Prude & Boujee share with us all the wonderful things they are doing with self-care through her fantabulous shop. From sheet masks to gift sets plus the special items that we were able to purchase for this FUN event the Give Back Self Care Kit that donated one to a healthcare worker - SO ahhmazing!! We had FUN with one another via Zoom by introducing our special guests that joined us that day - LOVED seeing Yelpers that we are unable to see in person - all the smiling faces brought a little sunshine our way. We had a BLAST as Vania and her Mother directed us on how to put our sheetmasks on since we had a bit of a challenge with the Bro Masks for the guys in our fambam. We learned that if the men have facial hair that they put it on their neck instead (see pictures). Everyone danced around as we enjoyed the self-care portion of the Yelp FUN event. Papa and Granddaughter showed off her Prude & Boujee Ducky that we also learned that $5 of each one that you purchase goes towards a local college scholarship recipient - WOOT WOOT!! Anddd plenty of pictures were captured of the self-care shenanigans. Prude and Boujee website has fab products that can be sent to your doorstep - can't wait for my next one to arrive as delivery service is currently happening along with curbside too, so be sure to check that out. I LOVED, loved receiving my package in the mail, it smelled absolutely ahhhmazing!! Thank you to Vania, Prude & Boujee, CM Michael T, Yelp, the Yelpers that joined via Zoom, again LOVED seeing everyone - you brightened our day! Sunday Funday Mother's Day was an absolute BLAST!! All of the proceeds from the evening supports locals by providing meals, distributing clothing and toiletries, providing emergency housing vouchers to aide families from losing their homes, and help homeless seek emergency shelter. Often some of the area charity events have familiar participants. But I was glad to see tonight had some new and creative faces, and many fantastic summer bites. Along with delicious morsels, came ingenious presentations. The Grove's miniature campsite with s'mores, and nachos in a tin can. Gaslamp had shrimp at the beach. And Bistro 7's grilled corn bruschetta was amazing. Not even opened yet, but The Jesse was serving. I enjoyed Fin & Filet, Twisted Fork, Sierra Street Kitchen, Dorinda's Chocolates, Rue Bourbon, and The Grill too. As well as helping a great local charity, you got to talk to some fantastic local restauranteurs. I'm sorry, did I only talk about the food? The wine.....was awesome and plentiful. Saw some old favorites and discovered some new vineyards I hadn't tried yet. Thanks to those who contributed all the fabulous raffle and silent auction items. You made it hard to bid, and even more difficult not to buy an entire roll of raffle tickets. And finally, all the friends I ran into. Nice to see everyone.

The Reno Initiative for Shelter and Equality or RISE. is nonprofit based in Reno that was founded to "cultivate a greater sense of dignity and humility by providing equal access to shelter, knowledge and opportunity." Volunteering and other support opportunities can be found at renoinitiative.org. Everyone including us at this wonderful event were having an excellent time as we moved around the ballroom. Silent auction items were placed in the middle of the room from golf clubs, mini-vacations, fabulous bottles of wine, exquisite pieces of jewelry and of course the wheel barrel of wine and beer that you could purchase a raffle ticket to possibly take the entire contents home. We bid on several different silent auction items and purchased several raffle tickets but alas we were outbid still knowing our money went to a very worthy cause. The libations, wine and food circled the outsides of the room and throughout the night we were entertained by the DJ playing popular tunes for everyone to dance too. We saw several attendees dancing the night away to the Electric Slide including some fellow Yelpers. Great night for a great cause, thankful we could attend and support this evening via Yelp - thank you to Yelp, Michael T. and R.I.S.E. and all the numerous sponsors, vendors and local restaurants that came out too!
