This speaks to me because clearly someone isn't listening or paying attention. Ricardo was very well aware that I was getting other quotes for gutter repair or a new system and a shed roof. I misread the quote as I expected multiple as I have a few requests and that's how other companies did them, Ricardo told me where to find the information. All good. A few weeks have passed and I am finalizing on a gutter project with a contractor that was legitimately $5k lower. I was going to use Duramax for a different project they quoted though. Ricardo decided to call up very "hey, hey, hey". When I told him I found a contractor to do the gutters cheaper, but I wanted to use them for a shed roof. Ricardo had to educate me on why I made the wrong decision and why his price is high. First, I didn't make a wrong decision and second, get your facts together before you start quoting your superior quality when the other contractor is equal to your quality. We are done at this point. They don't even get the roof project. I see Ricardo responded very professionally. However, he missed a key concept. The other contractor offered the same product, same quality AND better warranty/guarantee. So no, this was not about a budget. This was about companies that all came in $2/5k lower for similar product, material and warranty. However, if he listened rather than take it as an insult, I would have left well enough alone and gave him the shed project. Instead, he had to over talk me the second I mentioned someone was cheaper by A LOT. His veiled and direct response makes me think this happened often.

I encouraged them to come out first to assess the job before quoting -- they assured me someone would, but no one ever came. When the technician arrived for the scheduled power washing, he was visibly annoyed and unprepared. He even seemed to be angry with me about the driveway situation. When I asked what the person who supposedly came to assess had said, he admitted no one had actually come to look, and thought he could just do it via Google Maps... Still, I tried to keep the job moving forward. We agreed over email that he'd return with a portable washer and charge a pretty substantial extra fee. I was happy to pay extra given the circumstances, and asked for confirmation in writing that he still wanted to do the work, to which he replied: "I'm happy to take on the project." On the morning of the scheduled appointment, I sent an additional text to confirm that we were good to go and received a response confirming we were on. I then cleared all outdoor furniture, kids toys, our grill, planters, etc the morning of the appointment. But then JUST before the scheduled time, I received a last-minute text: "Actually I'm going to pass on this work -- it's not something I'm interested in dealing with." I fully understand that a contractor can decline a job. But doing so after multiple confirmations and hours of prep on my end is incredibly unprofessional. This company had every opportunity to bow out earlier, and instead chose to waste my time. I would not recommend S&S to anyone looking for reliable or respectful service.
