This was my second time attending dragon lights; the first time was over 5 years ago. The overall experience was fine. The Arboretum made it easy for me to get my tickets online and to pick a date and time for when I'd like to attend. We did the whole experience in 35 minutes and that included stopping for photos and also taking photos for others. The event itself was flat and underwhelming. We went on a weeknight but there wasn't anything really going on. When I attended in years past the event was spread out much further around the arboretum and also had cultural enhancements to include a drum and dance performance. Perhaps those are on certain nights or weekends only? I also remember getting a guided tour before and I didn't see that as an option this year. The lighted lanterns and displays are beautiful, but the event itself is missing something to make it worthwhile. read more

This was our first year going. We walked through in about 30 minutes. My favorite part was watching and hearing all the little kids giggling with glee and running everywhere, "Ohing and Ahing". Their glee was contagious and uplifting. There were only three food trucks last night: a Boba truck, a Fried Food Truck, and a Snow Cones truck. My husband got a chicken strip basket with fries. Everything was hot and flavorful. I only saw one vendor that was selling Chinese horoscope items and crafts. Most people were smiling and taking lots of pictures. The large Yellow and Orange dragon was my favorite. I wished there were more lighting for the paths, as it got darker, and not all of the path was lit. I really enjoyed the benches that were dispersed throughout the paths, giving participants time to sit and enjoy the experience while relaxing and taking in the sights. Feeling just so incredibly thankful my family and I got to make such unforgettable memories at dragon lights this year. This was our first time and it will definitely not be our last. From the minute you walk in from the parking lot you are greeted by the most amazing lights that display various animals, plants and flowers. Every employee greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcomed. There was so much to do and fun interactions for my kids such as riding a bike to pump power, a light up dance floor, arcade games, photo props, fun swings that light up and so much more. We ended up packing snacks for our littles so we didn't get to enjoy the food trucks this time but I can't wait to come back and try them out! The theme was underwater creatures and it was truly so fascinating. It was cool we got to learn more about creatures and plants we never had heard about. My favorite from the whole night was the sleeping bear at the end. It was amazing to see the trees swaying in the background with the birds moving and the bear breathing. Awesome to be able to go again after a couple of years, but sad to say my expectations were really way higher then this. First off upon waking into the food truck area, there was only 2 trucks with FOOD food, one being tacos and one being Doggy Style Korean corn dogs. I just really expected more food so we didn't eat first, ended up eating after getting back home. There was another stand of shaved ice, one of apparently funnel cakes and then Num Num Boba. So that knocks it down a little peg, but as far as the displays and events, I just found it really underwhelming this time and overall it just seemed cheap. $100+ for a family of 4 is a lot of money, and we walked through the entire installation in less then 30 minutes. I'm not impressed with the quality for sure, that alone will keep me away next time. The value for money just really isn't there anymore. This used to be a really cool event, but they need to work a bit harder at that price point. read more

The Dragon Light Festival was pretty chill. Literally. With a few good food vendors, a wonderful exhibit of lights, automation and music, this year's festival felt smaller, however it didn't take away from the fun and creativity on display. The temperatures I would've imagined kept folks inside, but even with the 41 degree chilly air, kids of all ages, young, small and in strollers, families--still turned out to marvel at the display. It was pretty nice though. Looking forward to next year. Hopefully it's warmer. read more

Dragon lights really brought it on this year. I went on a Wednesday night around 7:20 and there really weren't that many people there at all. At many times we were on the path by ourselves, which made it even more magical and romantic. Every other year I have been it's super busy. I love the vibrant colors and the whimsical side it brings out in me. My date kept saying "I love to see you so happy". It's truly an an amazing display year after year that is fulfilling to young and old alike. Great for families but also couples. I learned it takes a team of 25 people about 2 weeks to set it up. That is incredible. Thank you for keeping this tradition alive and well for Reno families to enjoy . It is my favorite yearly thing to do in Reno, hands down. Cool crisp air and fun exercise are also greatly appreciated. The colors! So vibrant. I love seeing the creativeness like the tummy moving and on the sleeping bear. The twinkling lantern tunnel had my heart this year. It really felt like we were surrounded by 200 candles. read more

Finally went to see the dragon lights and I can see why families love it! It was really nicely step up and it's pretty self explanatory and how to get around and there's food trucks and bathrooms! There's even an arcade and different interactive games you can do with the drain lights. I did enjoy it and seeing the art and the detail that goes into setting this up. But I will say this felt more family and kid orientated, which is great for families. I loved the fantasy forest and the ocean section. It was so creative and was cool to walk through. It felt like The perfect amount of lights, not too little and not too much. I can see why people rave about this every year, take your kids, nieces and nephews, they'll love it read more

Another amazing year at dragon lights! This is one of our favorite family events all year. This year our son is 2 and he was obsessed with everything. I love how the displays change yearly so it's never exactly the same. My favorite this year was probably the lantern tunnel. This year I felt they had way more interactive displays which was fun to participate in and really got everyone going. They also had food trucks and some gifts for purchase. I feel like I picked the perfect night to check out the 2025 Dragon Lights experience! I invited a couple friends and we made it a night out! The weather was perfect and it wasn't crowded. Loved seeing some similar art from last year and the new exhibits too! I felt this year had more areas that were "hands on" like riding a bicycle to make music and we checked out the mini arcade area! I loved it all! My favorite area was the sleeping bear and the giant tree! Overall great experience. Thanks to everyone who put this together. I will definitely let all my friends know to check it out before the month ends! This event is a super cool experience, you should see it at least one time. The lighting feels magical at times, transporting you under the see or into some other imaginary world. This was my second year seeing the Dragon Lights festival so some of the magic was lessened, It's a place to see happy couples, happy families with kids and some kids in melt down mode as they beg their parents to make one more lap through the lit displays. My favorite this year was the big bear napping on a rock, surrounded by unicorns and birds. I grabbed a plate of bulgogi fries at one of the food trucks and enjoyed a moment to refresh and people watch. It would be cool to see a wider assortment of food trucks here as the lines can get long. More food trucks and then remove the cheesy souvenir shop and arcade. Why I did not give 5 stars: * The 6 o'clock period is extremely busy. There is not enough parking to handle the crowds. We had to drive around a bit searching, eventually finding an overflow dirt lot 1/3 of a mile from the entrance. * Some of the interactive displays were not functional or in disrepair last night. There was no smoke from the dragon. Half of the lights in the swings weren't functional. * I found myself wanting to come back today with a leaf blower. There's a lot of leaves this time of year and many of the flower displays were covered in fallen leafs, taking away from the beauty of the lights. * The use of large generators to power the lights is a distraction. It seems by now that the park could upgrade their power system to handle this event. This might encourage other events as well. read more

I am so happy I was given the opportunity to see this beautiful event again. Thank you Yelp. I took my daughter and we were able to bring her boyfriend and best friend and we all had such a great time. There were food trucks but we chose not to eat there. We arrived right at sunset and it was the perfect time. I love how you can make the time there as interactive as you want. It's especially amazing how much they have for kids to partake in too. Dragon Lights is a truly amazing experience and totally worth it if you've never been before! I'm very thankful to Yelp for offering free tickets to Elites. Without the offer from Yelp, I am not sure I would normally attend this event. The pricing is a bit steep. If you purchased tickets, food, and maybe stopped by the gift shop here, this experience can get pretty pricey. Our group walked the installation in about 35 minutes. We likely could have spent more time in the interactive zone, but it was very busy and there were long lines for many interactive areas, so we skipped them. I do think the interactive zone was the coolest part and if it wasn't so packed, we would have really enjoyed checking out all of the things! The installations are gorgeous and the main attraction dragon this year was magnificently impressive. My kids favorites were the multiple tunnels and the bear installation near the end. There was also more interactive stuff throughout the park compared to last time I attended. Overall, I am appreciative to have attended this event as an Elite and think it's a great one and done activity. I've been twice over the last few years and I can say it didn't change much from year to year, so if you've been once you can probably skip for a few years before returning. read more

It's been a while since I've gone to Dragon Lights, but I am so happy I was able to go this year. I thought the Lanterns were beautiful and did notice how this event has evolved since the last time I attended. The entrance process was super smooth and there were about 5 Food Trucks soon after the entrance, at The Lantern Food Court. I had already eaten dinner, so a Vanilla Chai Milk Tea from Num Num Boba was all I needed to begin my stroll. I invited my adult daughter to come with me and we just had the best time. We spent some time at the Interactive Section, having fun with all of the Neon lights. We even enjoyed the playground, intended for kids and of course kids at heart like us. After having all that fun, we continued on to see the Lantern displays. The Lanterns are displayed in 3 themed zones; Asian Culture, Odyssey of Waves and Odyssey of Woods. It was all really beautiful and me being an animal lover, I just really enjoyed the display of creatures from both Land and Sea. I also can't say enough about the tunnels. Really fun!! In my opinion, the full experience was just long enough and thought it was well planned. Such a great way to display Chinese Culture. PBS Kids welcomed us to Dragon L ights tonight. The grandkids got an LED sparkle light and a dragon egg. The kids area had lots of activities for them to do before it got dark. It was fun for them but the number of light displays seem smaller and not as extravagant. It was still beautiful, but not the wow factor of previous visit visits. PBS does a great job with their programming and their extracurricular activities for families thank you PBS. My granddaughter has had a fabulous time. read more

Another amazing year at Dragon Lights Reno! This light display is unlike anything else - it goes forever! Great place to take the family - we love all the different groups of lights throughout the Arboretum. Kids especially enjoyed the coral reef and jellyfish displays. The lights are lovely!!! It seems a little smaller than previous years, but it was a beautiful night. The entry was easy and we picked a slow night so we could take our time. The displays were all amazing and the lights were stunning. There were several interactive displays that kids were enjoying. The light tunnels were so awesome and the music pairings were just right. I love the underwater tunnel, it reminded me of the aquarium tunnel in San Francisco. We didn't try the food trucks but I only saw boba which I don't really like. This has become such a special time for me. Not only was I able to experience this again, but I was able to recreate my first date with my boyfriend on our anniversary. And Dragon Lights just keeps getting better and better! Here are a few changes from last year: an arcade, a mirror room, more food trucks and even more unique art installations. A lot of it is kid-friendly too! My favorite part is going through the different light tunnels because it doesn't even look like you're at a park-it really transports you into Asia. What a cool Reno Event! It was an amazing event to take my toddler to. He loved seeing all of the lights and there is a cool kid friendly section with a light up dance floor and interactive activities. I do feel like this year the walkthrough felt shorter than years past but maybe that was because my toddler was running this year. But overall a fun family friendly activity! My only feedback is this can be a pretty pricy event- as it would have been $70 for 2 adults and a toddler. read more

Thank you Yelp and Dragon lights for my two complimentary tickets this year. We have been taking our kids since this festival started coming into town. The first festival they had here in town offered more culture; Live performances ect. I love the Dragon lights and this year was no different. I enjoyed just taking it all in. We went Monday evening and the weather was perfect. No wind and a cooler evening. There weren't any healthy options for dining so we opted out for eating there although my daughter wanted fried oreos. My kids had hot chocolate and a pineapple lemonade. This event was quieter than I remember and I'm not complaining one bit. It was nice to take our time. We played and hung out for an hour or so and headed out for a later dinner. Thank you for the free games. My kids and I had a blast shooting basketballs and VR ostrich game was a hit with my youngest. The lights were beautiful and being born in the year of the Dragon, I especially enjoyed their dragon showcase. Thanks again Yelp and Dragon lights for a chill night with my kids. read more

I've always enjoyed the Dragon Lights festival and this year was no exception. It was a quiet night and not very busy at all and the first time the parking lot had plenty of spaces available at the entertance! I have to admit that the event felt smaller than previous years, but that could also be merely the fact that without the crowd I was moving through much quicker. I stopped and got an ice cream cone at the food court, there were a couple of food trucks but not all the vendors listed on the sign were available or present. There were less vendors for crafts available for sale than previous years, I only counted two, but the small "arcade" for kids was new and a nice touch. The lights and walk path through the arboretum were as stunning and creative as usual. Without the crowd, it took maybe 30 minutes to enjoy the whole event at a normal pace. Admittedly, the value is a little lacking if you are bringing a large family given how expensive general admission racks up per person, but there's no question that once inside the awe and beauty of the displays will take over and you and yours will have a great time! read more

Had a wonderful evening with my family at the Dragon lights on a Tuesday evening. It was surprisingly crowded for a weekday, but it was also Veterans day so I expect that was the reason. We had a lot of fun exploring all the interactive exhibits when we first entered, and then went into the walking part of the exhibit. There are lots of great photo opportunities which were great for family photos. We had a great time, I think it's not quite as big as I remember from when I last went several years ago, but we still had a great time and it was beautiful to see! read more

Dragon Lights was a beautiful event with tons of amazing photo opportunities. This event was perfect for making wonderful memories with my family. My kids loved the interactive playground and we spent at least an hour enjoying those displays. Very fun and cool for the adults too. Wasn't super crowded and didn't have to wait in lines. There were food vendors and specialty drinks, even a pretty little gift shop. The walking trail for all the lantern displays was beautiful, especially being at such an amazing arboretum. I loved how the lanterns hung from trees. The theme this year was ocean. Everything is so vibrant and well designed. No where else can you experience this stunning art. We went to Dragon Lights Reno on a Thursday night with our one-year old and we had so much fun! We went last year and had a blast so it was fun to see the new art included this year and some of our favorites from last year. We did the 5pm on Thursday this time and it wasn't very busy which was awesome to be able to walk around slowly and take our time at each piece. In the future we'll try to do the same with toddlers since it was much calmer than going at a later time on the weekend or during Thanksgiving week. read more

Had so much fun at this event! Wow the colors! Immediately walking up to the entrance, we were greeted vivid and bright beautiful lights! I immediately knew it was going to be a great time! Checking in was super easy and seamless, loved being able to scan the QR and being ushered into the park. I appreciate the staggered time slots so we all wouldn't be in the park at the same time. I didn't think it was overly crowded either! I liked the kid area , we even spent a few mins playing some of the interactive games! I also appreciate the various themes of the lights, it made it seem cohesive. Some folks might not like how short it was but I loved it! I went to Dragon Lights this year and last year, and it just keeps getting better. It's a perfect date night idea, and I especially loved the option to do the audio tour. We grabbed hot tea from one of the food trucks and strolled through the displays; it was such a fun and relaxing experience. The light installations are stunning, and the event feels very family friendly without being overcrowded. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but the traffic controllers do a great job guiding everyone to open spaces. They also have sani huts and sinks available, which makes it convenient for families and visitors spending more time at the event. read more

This was my first year attending dragon lights! I highly recommend going on a weeknight to avoid crowds. Tonight was perfect on a Monday. They had a great amount of lights to walk through and a section for kids which my son loved. Games, bubbles, light up dance floor etc. It is a perfect place to come on your own or with the family! There were also companies selling food and drinks. We walked at a moderate pace and stopped a few times. We completed the path in about 45 minutes. Another fun Dragon Lights experience! My kiddos really enjoyed the interactive area before the main displays. So fun that the activities change each time along with the theme of the event. My youngest exclaimed "Christmas lights!!" as we pulled onto Sierra street and began to see the lights through the trees. Although not Christmas lights, Dragon lights has the same magical effect on both young and old. This year was the best and most organized yet that I have attended for Dragon Lights. I liked the straight trail with a clear path, in years past we lost our way which was difficult with little kids. This year was well organized and the displays were great. We loved the interactive area the best. Bubbles, biking to make lights and sounds, it was fun. Our 8 and 12 year olds loved the experience and the adults loved the light displays. Grateful for the opportunity to enjoy the event. Best experience this year on a Thursday night in November. Very light crowd and so we were able to take our time and experience the lights and music as if it was set-up for us alone. Beautiful displays as always. Lots of twinkling coral and many overhead lights. Hopefully the price and change to colder weather won't keep people away because we want to look forward to Dragon Lights in the coming years. read more
