Oh man, just when I needed an energy boost after a month of madness called March, this sadly wasn't it. If you've been following me last month, you'll know I had a pretty brutal month with a seemingly endless onslaught of difficult people and quite the quagmire that, NGL, even included a couple days of mentally preparing for life without Yelp and the friends I've made in this community. To be honest, I didn't even know what I was thinking or getting myself into by signing up for this YEE. A far drive to a tea house in Anaheim just for two drinks that would probably exceed my weekend quota of added sugars? Well, if it was only one drink, I probably wouldn't have even RSVPed, but two? Sure, let's give them a try! What's the worst that could happen? Well, let's see: * Indifferent service from an employee * Being asked for my name again when my name had already been checked off the guestlist * Having to clean a table before I could enjoy my drinks * Having one of my energy drinks on the pickup counter for the taking by anybody else even though my name wasn't called yet * Energy drinks that didn't really taste like energy drinks * Hearing foul language while trying to enjoy my drinks * Walking all the way to the pickup counter to get napkins or to toss trash in an already full trash can * Dropping a heavy box not one, but ten times a few feet away from me For this YEE, lucky Elites like yours truly were entitled to try Tastea's two energy drinks, which I believe have recently been added to their menu. I'm sure others have overlooked this, but the complimentary offering also includes honey boba and/or crystal boba. I arrived at about 2 PM on Saturday, and there were some customers ordering at a kiosk. No employees offered to assist me, so then I went to the other counter, thinking the Elite Yelpers should have gone there instead. Nope, it was pickup counter, so I went back to the order counter where Maggie finally assisted me. I told her I was with Yelp and showed her my name so she could check it off the guestlist. She seemed kind of sweet at first, but then she suddenly handed the reins to her co-worker, who was more sour. She had this stern and unwelcoming attitude that didn't make me feel welcome, even as a VIP guest. She was willing to explain the drinks to me, but forgot to mention that the Shark Bite energy drink included gummies. I was planning on choosing crystal boba with the drink that had gummies, and honey boba for the other drink, so I had to ask for clarification which of the drinks had gummies before I could assign the boba types to the drinks. Then, I was asked for my name (again) even though I had already given it to Maggie to check me off the list. I thought I said it already? She said they still had to ask for my name to assign it to my order. I guess they don't know what the word efficiency means... Tastea shares a spot with THH, and that caused me to clean a table that was last used by THH customers before I could sit down. I couldn't find napkins anywhere except at the pickup counter, which was at the other end of the shop. A more centralized location for napkins would have worked better, and same with the trash can, which was by the pickup counter as well. At the 5-minute mark, I saw one drink that was ready for the taking, but couldn't tell if it was mine or not. Any unscrupulous individual could have snatched it, and with how service was going that day, I can't be certain they would have remade my drink even if it was their bad at failing to call out my name in the first place. But it took a few more seconds before a male bobarista had my other drink ready and called my name. I wasn't offered a drink carrier, so I had to carry the drinks and napkins to the table, almost fearing I'd drop a drink on the floor. Armed with two drinks on the table, it was my time to chillax after a long week of work. Or maybe not. The music that was playing was pretty loud, and it was rap music that even had an F bomb in it. In a place where children could hear it? And I *think* the stern employee even threw one herself? I couldn't tell for sure, but hearing that one F bomb during my visit was grounds enough for me to not recommend Tastea as a place to take the kiddos. I also witnessed her drinking one of the energy drinks on the clock. And that wasn't the end of it. That employee dropped a box ten times just a few feet away from me! The first time startled me so much I could have easily spilled the drinks on the table! I saw her drop the box about 9 more times, probably to extricate some frozen ingredients from ice? The drinks themselves were good, and I do appreciate she reminded me about the boba, which tasted QQ, hence why I'm not giving one star. Unfortunately, a return visit to Tastea, even one closer to me, is unlikely, but thank you Hayley, Yelp Orange County, and Tastea for the experience. Too bad the drinks lacked caffeine and failed to give me the energy boost I was expecting :( read more

Tastea is located next to THH sandwiches. It was pretty easy to check in with the worker. He was super friendly, and asked if I wanted both drinks. He also gave me the option of picking out which pin I wanted. I chose purple, my favorite color! I also added honey boba to both drinks. The drinks are big! I love the colors of the drinks. Unfortunately, it's not possible to change the sweetness of the drinks. I suggest just letting the ice melt to dilute the drinks. I enjoyed both drinks! My favorite though was the shark bite, since it was a bit more tart. I would describe both drinks as a carbonated drink. It is a tad sweet, but still tasty and enjoyable! What a Tastea treat this was to be invited to this event. When we arrived then place was quite busy but we reached the front counter quickly and the staff was great from start to finish. We informed them we were here for the Yelp Elite tasting and they had the sheet and everything ready to go which was great to see. Due to the busyness during our visit we were told it would be around a 10 minute wait for the drinks. This was fine and allowed us the time to take some photos around the shop as we waited. We were also handed a couple of pins as well which was quite a cool surprise. The 10 minutes passed quickly for the drinks and we were delighted and surprised to see that both drinks were full sized 20oz beverages. Both of the new drinks were fantastic and had great flavor and carbonation an these are definitely both something I would order again. The Green Mamba was my favorite of the two but the Shark Bite was also delicious. Thank you to the Yelp OC team for allowing us to be a part of this event, it is always unexpected but always such fun to be able to try out these new concoctions. I was excited to see that there was a Yelp Elite event at Tastea :) And even more interested that they were letting us try their energy drinks! I thought we get to choose 1 out of 2 of their energy drinks but they gave both out. Shark Bite and Green Mamba were the drinks. Out of the 2 my fave was the Shark Bite...the lychee flavor was nice and it wasn't as sweet as the Green Mamba though both was very sweet and carbonated lol. I really enjoyed this Elite tasting/event. Everything was a smooth process. The staff already had the elite list in front of them so there was no confusion when we informed the cashier about it. He checked off our names and asked if we could please wait about ten minutes since he had to make four drinks just for us and had several customers who had ordered before us. It was no problem. Before receiving our drinks he handed us cute pins of the boba drinks. I thought that was really nice. He asked if we needed a cup holder which we appreciated and gave us our straws as well. He was so nice throughout the whole process. I did find that the drinks were very sweet. I wondered if I should have asked if I could get the sweetness lowered, but based on other reviews it looks like it may not be possible with the energy drinks. I forgot to ask for free boba! Oops. I loved the cute shark gummies in the shark bite drink. I found that I liked the Shark Bite better. Also as the drinks dilude a little bit, it helps with the sweetness. I was shocked at the size we received for both drinks as well! I am not sure what size they are for sure but it looks like 20 ounces. That was really cool to receive two of those absolutely free. I was so excited when I saw a Yelp Elite event for Tastea, that I RSVP'd right away. They have new energy drinks? Sign me up! I arrived around 11am on Sunday, and since it was towards the end of the event - I was surprised I still received 2 cute Tastea pins. Def a plus!! The staff were very friendly and provided quick service. I opted for honey boba in both the Shark Bite and Green Mamba - although upon drinking it, I think I will opt out next time. Both drinks are overly sweet and carbonated, so the carbonation with honey boba wasn't a pleasant match. It tasted kind of weird. So for the rest of the drink, I purposely avoided the honey boba (insert sad face here). I would have liked it if we could have adjusted the sweetness of the drink - or even opted for stevia as a substitute. After bringing it home, I added a ton of unsweetened/unflavored soda water to dilute the sweetness. Out of the 2 drinks, I may be in the minority here but I liked the Shark Bite better. Staff was super nice from start to finish and drinks came out fast. Both drinks were good, but my favorite has to be the green one, mango citrus. You can get boba in it, but I opted out. I took a few sips and already felt the caffeine, so it definitely works to energize you. I forgot to ask how much caffeine was in the drinks, so if anyone knows, please let me know! There was no line when I came. I thought we got to pick one of the two, but they gave both! They didn't ask if I wanted any modifications or add ons, but I got a cute pin. The shark bite was sweet and refreshing. I liked the taste before mixing. Once I mixed the drink, it became too sweet. The green mamba tastes of strong citrus. It was more carbonated. Huge shoutout and thank you to Tastea, Hayley, and the rest of the YelpOC team for another amazing event! I came in on Sunday afternoon and the check-in process was smooth and easy. Gave the cashier my name, he asked if I wanted any additional toppings, waited a few minutes for my drinks, and I was on my way! I don't always drink energy drinks, but everyone once in a while there's the need for a boost before the gym or a long day. I'm so glad that these tasted familiar in a way that it wasn't too much to adjust to - but if you aren't used to canned energy drinks, this may taste a little different for you. Of the two, I found the Shark Bite flavor easier for me to drink a lot of at once, but I overall liked the stronger citrusy flavor in the Green Mamba. Both are tasty and pack a mean caffeine punch! (The caffeine was so strong in the Green Mamba that I had to take breaks!) Indeed, what an amazing Tastea treat! This Anaheim location is my go-to place to grab my favorite drinks (chamango) and I was very excited to become a part of this new energy drinks experience. Staffs were courteous. Clean location. Khanh, who helped checked me in was very helpful and friendly. He informed me of what beverage I will be getting and asked me if I wanted an additional toppings for both my drinks. I opted the lychee boba and regular boba. I was delighted to receive an invitation from Yelp to attend this event for Tastea! I always pass by this area and I always wondered how closely Tastea and even the nearby THH really resided by each other. Finally an excuse to check it out! Quick notes everybody! Easy to find building and it even had a cherry blossom-like tree in the parking lot with many spots for you to park! Upon entry, you're greeted with a few tables and even the bright spots for Tastea! ‍‍ Service greeted with a smile, a check-in and an immediate affirmative for the goodness to come soon! And guess what! Free stickers and free pins! The prices are exactly what you would expect from Tastea and especially similar to all the other Tastea spots! Sad news though, no chicken. But then you could also bring those hunger cravings over to THH nearby. Otherwise, we were greeted with the Shark Bite and Green Mamba. The Shark Bite was my favorite, considering the caffeinated drink not only has that berry sweet flavor but the gummies inside and even the endless gazing when you stir the blue and red syrups together. OVERALL : Tastea has energy drinks now and I am HERE for it! Thank you so much to the Yelp CM team for giving us the opportunity to try out these drinks. They're fizzy, fruity, and strong! Def enough caffeine to keep you going through a long day -- I would say it's the equivalent to a full energy drink. I like the option of getting this if I'm looking for something stronger than a fruit/milk tea. You can also add toppings such as boba to it too, which makes it more fun if you want to slowly enjoy it throughout the day. Great new drinks! I thought we only got one drink but you actually get to try both with a topping (either honey or crystal boba). I also got a little tastea pin and some stickers. The order taker David was super nice and helpful when taking the order also. The drinks are refreshing and almost remind me of Dutch bros. I came here for a pick me up from working and wanted to get some extra energy and caffeine. This was my first event and it was so cute! The worker was very sweet and helpful and gave me the cute pins in my pic. The drinks were very refreshing and great for the summer heat! I can see myself ordering the Shark Bite again. I was able to get one add on and decided to add lychee jelly which just made it more yummy! The Shark Bite is on the sweeter side so if you don't like sweeter drinks I would not do any extra add ons like jelly since it's already pretty sweet. I love when you mix the drink it turns into a purple color and the Shark gummy just makes the experience more fun! The Green Mamba was definitely more citrusy and sour tasting. Still a bit sweet but more tangy than the Shark Bite. It's a vibrant green and I also added lychee jelly which made it sweeter. Amazing customer service. The server, he was tall with glasses, was very friendly and had a smile on his face the entire time. Drinks were so refreshing! Just what I needed after a long day at work. The shark gummy in the Shark Bite is such a cute touch. Can also add honey boba or crystal boba - at no charge! I added the signature green boba and as usual, boba was perfectly chewy and sweet. At first I couldn't find it because THH Sandwich is shown when driving. You have to look inside and find the Tastea sign inside. What's even more: this location doesn't serve any hot food. It is located right next to THH Sandwiches, in the same building! There is plenty of parking available. The service was extremely fast, I was helped within seconds and my drinks came out even faster! There are some tables for seating available. Boba is included with the drinks! I opted for the honey boba, never had an energy drinks with boba before. I enjoyed the flexibility of this event, in which we got to attend when we were available. Sweet staff working here. They were very helpful and kind. :) I ordered popcorn chicken and realized this location does not serve food. The shark bite drink was refreshing, although I didn't realize I was supposed to mix it until later so it was a bit too sweet for me. I ordered an avocado smoothie for my sister while I was there as well. Maybe the staff are very new here? But my sister said that the pit of the avocado was also in her smoothie, so it was bitter and tasted more like milk vs avocado. Overall good experience. The drinks were exactly what I expected. It was carbonated water, flavoring, gummies, and caffeine pumps. The Shark Bite was a lot sweeter than Green Mamba. I definitely prefer Green Mamba as it didn't have gummies in it that added to the sweetness. I asked the worker how much caffeine is in each drink and initially he said 90mg x2 pumps each so I was shocked because I went to Tastea at night time but later was informed that it's 40(?)mg x2 pumps per cup so I was relieved. They also gave a little set with stickers that match the signage characters along with a Tastea pin. Khanh, the supervisor, was extremely kind! I've only had customer service this phenomenal maybe 10 times in my life so far. This location is connected to the restaurant next door, so make sure you enter through the right side, unlike the imbecile I am. I accidentally confused the business next door with Tastea, so she was confused, and so was I. Parking was abundant when I went, not busy at all. He was so friendly and welcoming! It was literally the best Yelp Elite experience I have ever had. He let me try both drinks (I was going to only try one), and they were both strong, but solid. It was a great option on a hot day. It's also next door to a 7-Eleven. I also appreciated the two boba pins so much, because I don't own anything like this, and I'm going to share it with my sister, who loves boba so much more than I do. It's such a cute added touch, with the stickers. Thank you to Yelp management and the Tastea family coming together as a partnership. I'm delighted that Yelp hosted a Tastea experience, because otherwise I would've never stumbled across this divine drink deity. Prior to this month, I'd never even heard of Tastea. While I missed BobaTime in LA, I'd never found an adequate replacement--until today. As someone who identifies as directionally-challenged, I appreciate that this location is easy to find. Friendly, efficient service; numerous menu options (most of which are allergy-friendly), and open late hours. What more could quench a beverage-buff? Came on a Sunday night and it wasn't busy at all. We were able to order quickly with the help of the cashier who gave us recommendations on what to add to our drinks (their lychee jelly is fantastic). We added a milk tea with honey boba to our order as well. The drinks were great! It was so fun to try their new energy drinks, and you have to love a gummy shark in a drink. Thank you Tastea, YelpOC and Hayley for introducing me to this new energy drink concept in a place I only associate with milk tea and boba. I was given a blue-purpley-fizzy drink called Shark Bite which was a very sweet blend of lychee, strawberry and citrus and another carbonated concoction Green Mamba which tasted more citrusy (couldn't tell there was mango in there though..) Both refreshing but I prefer the Shark Bite better than the other. It was more fun mixing the colors/syrup/boba of Shark Bite too.. My husband ordered their other new drink flavor Pandan Milk Tea which he enjoyed with Tastea's neighbor THH's egg rolls. Been a long fan of Tastea and was very happy to have this opportunity to try their new drinks! Of the two drinks, I enjoyed the shark bite a bit more. Not only it is a fun color changing drink as you mix, but also delicious. It comes with two shark gummies and has a prominent lychee flavor which isnt too common for energy drinks. It was tasty and I'd pick this over a Celsius or ghost drink anyday. For me, I did not taste any taurine at all but some how these two drinks kept me up till 2 am. so these drinks are STRONG. The mamba was a good second drink. Predominantly tasting like mango and then citrus club soda for the after taste. However, I wish it was a citrusy yellow orange color instead of bright green. I know thats tastea's theme but it just was a constant reminder how artificial it was. I would drink it again but I would get the shark bite over this. Good thing this Tastea is hittin on a hot day like today. I really like the boba. I forgot how nice of a texture it is. If I'm ever feeling tired I wouldn't mind getting one of these but I also wonder what kind of energy drink they are using I think one thing that could be improved is when they serve the drink to make sure to tell the customer to mix it well so that all of the syrup is incorporated. Got a chance to try the new Shark Bite & Green Mamba energy drinks today. The staff was super friendly and helped take care of us quickly, and also gave us a couple pins which were greatly appreciated. The drinks were on the sweeter side, but had some unique flavors. Personally I liked the Shark Bite more (the shark gummies were a nice touch). We also ordered a Lychee tea which was great. Thanks for the opportunity, this was a fun experience! read more

Thank you Hayley for this Yelp Elite Event! Got to Tastea on a Saturday around 3:40 and luckily managed to get in line before it started to get busier. I had to wait a tiny bit before my order was taken but it was no worries at all--I'm a barista so I totally understand. Khanh was super efficient and helpful with checking me into the event. I was asked if I wanted any changes but I just asked for the drinks as is :) Maggie was also very quick making the drinks. She gave me a heads up to stir the drinks before enjoying them. I did not receive a pin. Not that I expected one since the free drinks are already awesome, but a heads up in case. I tried the mango drink first--I agree with the others on sweetness but I still enjoyed that one the best! Very refreshing. The Shark Bite was the sweetest out of the two--I could definitely taste the lychee! I honestly was hesitant about this one but it surprised me! Overall, I'm unsure if I would return for the energy drinks, but I would return for the other stuff on the menu. It all looked super yummy! read more

Friendly and super fast service today! No wait to order though other customers were there. Very easy to park in front. Both drinks were delicious! Not too much carbonation; perfect sweetness level; definitely have the energy drink vibe. Shark bite is my favorite! I'm a lychee fiend! Green mamba is very good as well. Reminded me of green apple which I love. And mango is another flavor I can't get enough of. Overall, very refreshing! I'll definitely order these drinks again in the future. The building is shared in an open layout with THH Sandwiches, with very limited tables. Tastea had two customers in there when I entered. The two guys working seemed to be busy making drinks, I don't think they saw me because I stood at the register for a while before they acknowledged me and said it would be a bit of a wait. Shark Bite - A lychee, strawberry, and citrus energy drink with shark gummies. I enjoyed how bubbly and prominent the lychee flavor is in this, but the drink is very sweet, especially after mixing it. The drink also has a stronger artificial scent due to the lychee. There's two shark gummies in this, which had a very hard texture when I fished them out to eat. Green Mamba - A mango and citrus energy drink with a dried orange slice. I did not really notice the mango flavor, it's more of a light citrus flavor. This tasted more refreshing to me. Although these are labeled "energy drinks", they just seem like carbonated beverages. You probably will not get wired off of these! The reviews posted before mine have mentioned receiving pins. I did not receive anything, so it may be inconsistent or selective. read more

Thank you Yelp Elite for such a wonderful experience of not one but TWO drinks to try! This location of Tastea is located in the same vicinity as a Vietnamese to-go deli. While you're here, you may as well grab a bite too! Tastea always has a variety of drinks but I haven't tried the "energy" drinks prior to this experience. The shark bite drink: more of a raspberry flavored soda taste Green mamba: more of a lime soda taste Both drinks are very sweet, so if you're actually wanting milk tea, get one in addition to these energy drinks to even out the taste buds! read more

Hayley CM and Yelp, thank you so much for this awesome experience! Met my friend Eunice S. here since we haven't seen each other in a while and she got into the experience too. Figured perfect place to meet up and catch up. It was a little hard to find because the sign for Tastea is sort of hidden by the roof and another sign but that's just me LOL! The parking lot is big enough so there is plenty of parking. Before we walked in met another yelper she was nice. Then we went in to order our drinks. Bryce helped us he was awesome, we gave our names and told us we could get both the Shark Bite drink and the Green Mamba and he gave us some cute pins too. The Shark bite was sweet and sort of had a lychee flavor was so good I didn't add anything extra. The Green Mamba was not as sweet but good and a bit tart. The colors were so vibrant and beautiful lol. They have so many other drinks to choose from and around the corner where the seats are where we sat down, they have a Vietnamese food place which I thought was cool. It was busy here so the other drinks must be good, someone ahead of us ordered a whole bunch of Boba drinks. We had a great time catching up and trying our delicious drinks. A big thanks to Yelp and Tastea for putting together this event! The place is very vibrant and upbeat. The girls working are friendly and pleasant. The drinks were both so beautiful. Based on just presentation, they deserved the 5 stars. Then I tried both drinks and WOW. I'm not usually an energy drink type of person but these are delicious. Not only are they packed with flavor, they didn't give the instant sugar rush followed by a heavy crash. I think it was a great mix of everything. There's plenty of parking and the location is connected to a Vietnamese restaurant so there's some tables to sit at but not much. Overall a great experience and I'm very thankful to have been invited. read more

Was a smooth and easy experience. I visited on a less busy time in the afternoon and the worker was extremely friendly. Both drinks were delicious but the standout for me was the Shark Bite. The flavor tasted more fruity and didn't have too much aftertaste like the Green Mamba. Both were delicious and I even got a cute little Tastea pin. Great event! read more
