However, that changed when I went to Powell Fitness and started training with Anthony Castore. It's not a sweaty, smelly, crowded gym with scantily clad women and perfectly coifed muscle head men who grunt. It's a very nice atmosphere with trainers and clients that are all very nice and friendly. It's clean and comfy. Anthony is the best. He is a bodybuilder but actually has a personality, a sense of humor, and he's kind. Kind is a major factor. He really wants you to get stronger and more confident. He's very knowledgable and the complete opposite of conceded and arrogant. He will sit down with you and actually WRITE stuff down about you on a piece of paper and uses a pen.Yeah, marinate on that for a minute. I live in Westerville and it's worth the drive to go to Powell Fitness. Especially if you're going to train with Anthony.

I love the combination of classes they offer through the day from 5 AM till 6 PM. This location decided to being yoga into the mix with HIIT workouts which I find highly effective. Shred415 is a mix of cross fit training. First you start on the treadmill or deck for about 15 minutes then switch. So if you were on the floor doing your cardio you go onto the treadmill. The point of it is to increase your heart rate and get the most out of the 60 minute class. At Shred415 it's not just a gym it's a community or family that has your back from the trainers to the people that show up to class with you to support you along the way in your fitness journey. I love all the trainers here and haven't had one bad class at Shred415. Just stop and see for yourself. First class is always free and right now they have a great deal going on for the holiday's.

Although their facility…read moreis beautiful, the class schedule is pretty good but somewhat lacking in the evenings and particularly lacking for aquacise. Although I was told that children were only in certain areas, they are all over the exercise pool area and the lap pool. (What they told me about them not being in the locker rooms was true, at least when I left.) Your lane reservation may or may not mean anything. Your aquacise class may be crammed in between swim lessons and it will be extremely crowded (again, in the evenings. Daytime weekday classes are in the lap pool and are somewhat safe.) I don't know what the parents of those kids were promised but they will sit in the pool room and stare at you during your class. It was so unpleasant the last time I went, I decided it WAS the last time. You want this pool so bad you let your kids run in and almost knock me over while I'm trying to get out? Take it, but I ain't subsidizing your kid's lessons either. All of the instructors are great, the facility is clean, and they didn't give me any trouble when I quit. From at least one review, it appears this may have changed.

Simon took the time to understand my fitness goals, develop the workouts, get me back into shape and motivate me to achieve my goals. He also has a great app detailing each workout and I have been able to track my progression over the past year. It is nice to be able to see the progress and strength gain in one easy place. Schedule flexibility is important and the 5:00am session works best for me and allows me to get in a solid workout before going into work. The mix of cardio, core and strength training has gotten me into the best shape I have been in for many years. We have been members since the gym opened as Aspen. Although it was never a great gym it was worth…read morethe 10$ a month per member. At one point many machines were down for long periods of time but recently that has not been an issue. our major issue has been billing we at one point had 5 people on the account and would typically get at least 3 transactions a month and sometimes more. The maintenance fees that were always in Dec started coming out some in Jun some in Oct others Dec. It became a mystery what would show up on our statement each month then we would go in and the person behind the desk said they were not sure we would get a call from a manager and they would kinda explain it but could never get the billing to come out as one transaction or give us any detailed billing. At one point one of my sons got dropped off the account he was not using it much so we just did not fight to get him back on. On a regular basis we were stopped when we came in and told we were not member's. After arguing and missing half our workouts it would be resolved until the next time. In Dec my older son's moved out of state we told them to remove them from the account. We were informed they had to give 30 days notice via certified mail. Because they were 18 ok this is annoying but its a rule I get that and we followed the rule. My wife and I considered all leaving at the same time but decided to stay on. With out notice on Jan 1st my membership doubled in price. I decided at that time we would all leave we filled out the paper work and I even confirmed with Miguel a manager and Estavan the owner that as of Feb 11th we were done they assured me we had nothing else to do. So this morning we look on the account we were still billed for my wife because she had not signed to leave. I had asked if we had anything else while my wife was onsite and they could have had her sign the paper then. Also one of my sons was also still charged and we had a certified letter of him sending his notice to leave. It has been a billing nightmare working with this company and is boarding on fraudulent billing. We are currently expecting a refund for the most recent deduction and will not contact Kore if further billing goes through it will be handled as Fraud through our bank. In short decent inexpensive gym if you can get past the billing nightmare.

I don't know why I did not join the YMCA years ago when I found out about it. So fast forward to…read more2025 and I finally get ready to leave my current gym. I did not realize this gym really has it all. I mean I was just looking for a simple get on the treadmill, lift some weights and we are good. I didn't realize there was a pool, childcare and so many fitness classes on the Y app. This is not just a community place but really brings people together from all fitness levels and ages. This is something my previous gyms did not offer. I can really see a difference in the workouts I get here compared to a fitness boutique around Columbus and I've probably been to every single gym in Columbus if you ask a random person who may know me. My lifestyle resolves around the gym to train for the marathons I run. Next time you need a fitness recommendation you can message me or just come here and check it out for yourself. Did you know once you join the Y your membership is good at all locations and not just here? The Y has so many perks. Next time you need a community feeling gym look no further than your local YMCA. I'll even do the dance with you to the YMCA to try the fitness center.

I went back for a hot yoga for the first time in a few months. It was so nice! The place is located…read morenext to Giant Eagle and it's just a small yoga studio. Walking inside instantly makes you feel at ease and comfortable. I don't know whether it's the bright windows that lets in all the sunshine or the modern decor or the welcoming smile and greetings from the instructor. There are little cubicles to stash your belongings and bathrooms in the back. The place is always clean and you can tell the owner takes pride in her business. The bathrooms are always stocked with the best toilet paper and actual hand towels. The little fridge has coconut water and regular bottle water in case you forgot your water bottle. I did that once! The class was small so we listened to a recording and our instructor Pooja practiced with us. The room was nice and hot. It went by quickly and just like that; the 90 minute class was done. I truly enjoyed it especially the ice cold lavender towel at the end. It makes me feel so good to have done something good for my body. I left feeling amazing: mind and body. I drank my bottle of water with liquid IV and drove home thinking: Today is a great day!
