The vibe seemed Kinda off at first, but the host was welcoming and the waitress struck the perfect balance: attentive but not hovering. I ordered off the HRW lunch menu: chopped salad, jumbo wings (not a happy gal with only 2 flats, flats over drums forever), chocolate cake (wasn't flourless but tasted that way, missing the walnuts) and a glass of house wine. A couple hiccups came up, but the staff fixed them quick. Well at least the ones I brought to their attention. The patio is spacious with city views, probably a whole mood at night. Bar had plenty of TVs going: tennis, golf, even WCT. Basically, a solid spot to chill with drinks and friends... just don't expect a flat wing miracle.

The fences are low so if your ball goes out, you have to run into the parking lot to chase. Often times the ball will go in the street, etc. if they would have paid for 10ft fences that surrounded the courts, with netting, this would not be an issue. The next thing is the lights, if you play when it's dark the lighting is poor which makes it hard to see the ball in some areas of the courts. The final challenge is the wind, it's always windy at this facility. I guess with it being outdoor surrounded by building, no proper tennis or pickleball fencing, your balls go all over. So unless you're a power player and this doesn't matter, it makes game play not as fun. The facility inside is just kinda of an open concrete space with outdoor furniture, it's not really maintained or a spot to chill. You can never just book a court or easily get some play going because they only have 6 courts. For me, it's just not my spot and would not recommend

They do a decent job of scheduling, getting refs, providing lighted fields. This is a way for me to play flag football year round. Locations of the games vary. They can be at the Sportsplex way down southeast w/ $3 gate fee (that gives you a token for a beer or drink). At Quillian which is by Beltway8 and Westpark. Or at various city parks around the town like Lawrence, Love, Springwoods Park, etc. It isn't that bad to register an entire team and split the cost. A good way to blow off some steam after work.

If you're considering joining The Downtown Met in Houston, do yourself a favor and don't. This…read moreplace is a complete disaster, hiding behind a nice location and slick marketing while delivering some of the worst customer service and member experience you'll find in the city. The communication is abysmal, particularly from Sarah and Alicia, who are repeatedly unresponsive and unhelpful. Emails go ignored, questions are dodged, and if you do finally get a reply, it's vague and often inaccurate. They don't follow up, they don't follow through, and unless you ask five or six times, you will not get any clear answers or confirmations. You are constantly left chasing them down just to get the most basic information. To make matters worse, they will charge you whatever they want, whenever they want, without warning, explanation, or approval. You won't be notified of fees or changes unless you hunt them down to ask. If you're offered a credit, promo, or adjustment, take a screenshot and save every email, because they certainly won't help you figure anything out after the fact. Once you've signed up, you're on your own. Bijan is somewhat more communicative, but not enough to make up for the chaos. There's clearly no leadership or accountability here -- it feels like a group project where no one knows what their role is, and no one really cares. Facility-wise, it's barely above average. Courts are often overbooked, the gym space is mediocre, and amenities are inconsistently maintained. You're paying premium rates for a second-rate experience across the board. Bottom line: The Downtown Met is a textbook case of mismanagement and indifference. For a place that calls itself a "premier fitness and tennis club," it operates more like a poorly run pop-up gym with no structure or respect for its members. Look elsewhere, literally anywhere else would be a better use of your time and money.
