Solid store that has been around forever and supports the local reefing community. Great store and great people, wide selection at all price levels The other guys review is a joke. Expert reefers should know that LFS cater to the beginner and intermediate. If you are an expert, tell them the exact coral you are looking for so they can order it or find it for you. If you are looking for a specific nutrient, additive or supplement, Ask!! if you look lost and are browsing for 30 min, yes, you are going to get asked if you need help. Would you rather they don't say a thing to customers and let everyone blindly walk around? And if you don't like the inventory, don't buy anything. Come back in a few weeks and I guarantee it will be different. But don't leave a bad review because you didn't like what they had in stock on the one day you visited. This store has always been my go to after being in the hobby for 10 years. But if they are by chance out of something or I want to see different inventory, I ASK what they have coming in. Just a decent shop IMO. Someone told me they changed owners not too long ago. I haven't verified that though. Been going to Elite for a few years and if ownership has changed, I haven't noticed a change in anything else. For me it's always been solid, positive experience in service and merch. Livestock selection is limited compared to other shops l patron. But the shop is on the small side, so that figures. And I'd say coral selection grades C+/B-. Overall I give Elite a solid "GOOD" ... not THE BEST, yet far from THE WORST I've seen. read more

The only elite things about this place are incompetence and dishonesty. My tank was fully intact for more than three years. They moved it this weekend. Within two days, it cracked at the bottom, leaking 60 gallons of water into my house and causing major flooding. Company refuses to accept responsibility. read more

While visiting, we popped in to see what the store had to offer. My boyfriend and I are very big into reef tanks and have several of them, so wanted to check out the local Denver reef scene. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They had an adequate supply of all kinds of supplies, live rock, corals, anemones, fish, etc. The displays are well lit and laid out nicely. It is a bit easy to fly right by in the car because it is tucked between some warehouses in an industrial area, but it is worth the stop. read more

I'm going to start off by saying that this will be my first 100gal bare tank to sump setup, I always had nano saltwater tanks (fish only) but I really wanted to challenge myself and just go ahead with a reef build, and if your a local you know that most aquatic store around the metro area are...shall we say questionable? and full of those coral pests type of employees. Elite Reef is the place to be! Sure the drive up to the store is sketchy; like most of you all I read reviews and there were mix comments about this store, but let me tell you, this store have all the beginner basics that you would need. And I mean from live rocks! $7.99/LB which is reasonable, I was able to get 3 pieces (1S-1-M-1L) for around $70 bucks, and that depends on ur creativity. The owner is super nice, welcoming, and understanding no matter how far you are in your saltwater tank journey he will definitely point you toward what you need or order you one. (If you ever shop anywhere else you know this guy is going outta his way offering this, I got rush out the door by the fish store owner near my house literally for just breathing the same air as her fishes; and I was surprise she even notice I was even there, I don't think she fully know who her regulars are, usually she'll be reading something pretending not to notice customers looking for help, or a 20 min feeding wait because the lord know she gotta find out what Kim K did on the magazine, it sad when I'm helping the customer myself and I was just grabbing something even more sad is I don't think she cared, she just keeping it running but she lost her passion a long time ago; so yea it was super refreshing talking with an own or employee who are still passionate, it's like you found the place; a gem) I'm glad I created an account just to point out to people not for the bad store out there but the good one we should support, I appreciate all the hard working people, who just love fish and teaching people on proper fish keeping to get all their recognition! As a community we need well know stores that visitors or newly fish enthusiast can go to not for the unpleasant experiences, but of one that we all can at the same time have these beautiful fishes; learn proper upkeeps as well. To add if your looking for show fish you probably have a better luck at Keepin it Reef a great selection but you gotta know the right reasons of fishes restock, so make sure you let the owner know what your looking for and he'll setup a restock time for you (excuse the shameless hookup), with that being said, all they're collections are generally gear towards beginners, from rocks, to fish, to reef, so if you wanted to own a saltwater tank come on down, if you did your research you will find common items your used to seeing in those youtube setup builds. Highly recommend, great service, very friendly staff, all around a good store to start tinkling your tank and bring it to the next level, and of course intermediate reefers are also welcome! They'll hook you up with all your regular maintenance needs. Don't be diss encourage due to the terrible reviews down below from snotty experts who wouldn't wast they're time with this store calling them small and not a lot of diversity. In my humble opinion, this place is it, they open 11AM; do I need to say more? and they don't serve attitude with the purchase either! We came here on a whim instead of the actual Aquarium since it was rated higher in reviews and our toddler wouldn't know the difference. The staff was friendly and the tanks were immaculate. The variety in fish and coral reef were educational and wonderful to browse. read more

This store is absolutely wonderful! It's very far for me, but definitely worth it. They have a great variety of coral sizes. I've never been one to buy a big colony, so I definitely appreciate that they offer little frags of almost everything. The store is clean and well-maintenanced every time I've been in. They have a lovely display up front and many pico and nano tanks dotted around the perimeter. Also, I'm a stomatopod fanatic so they certainly get points for having "Mandy the mantis" even though that little G. chiragra is a handsom little man. =) I'm pleased to brag that they won't sell a fish if they can tell it's sick and actively fight shipping stress infestations. This makes me so much more comfortable buying here. I've seen fish stores push a sick fish out the door just to see it go. Blech! No, Elite reef is something far greater. Having been in the market for something specific recently, I tried to special order at several stores around town, and they're the only ones who gave me a call back. They got my business that day and they'll continue to have it. Elite Reef Fest is held once a year and is a BLAST. I've never seen a fish store 'give back" to its customers in more than some silly sale. The Fest was incredible with raffles and giveaways and free t-shirt flying in your face! It also benefits a local nonprofit. AMAZING! Additionally (if you can believe it), they give "coral cash" that you can come back to use on future purchases. The music they play is also something I love. It's such a strange thing to notice in a fish store, but it's very fun to have it there. read more

I have bought quite a bit there but their inventory was not comprehensive. They do have some nice corals. They are overpriced. I saw them cheat a person who brought in some very expensive corals. They have a young woman who works there who is completely incompetent and she talks to the customers as if she owns the store and purports herself as an expert. She seems like a megalomaniac who needs a little education. I personally would not go there. read more

Such an unpleasant group of employees to deal with. Invariably each time I visit, I am ignored by the staff until I approach them. When I am spoken to, conversations feel condescending and arrogant, like I am not worthy of their time and help. I can imagine having more pleasant conversations with a corpse. Although I live only ten minutes away from Elite Reef, I prefer driving an hour south to patronize a friendlier and more well kept fish store. Don't waste your time or money here. The store is always clean and the livestock always look great. The staff is very friendly. One of their employees, Zach, stands there and listens to my ADD version of 20 questions and patiently answers everything I ask. The other staff members I've spoken with were nice and helpful, as well. This is my go-to store for corals. I like that they have a wide range of price-points available, often offering $15 or even $10 frags. I ask a lot of questions every time I go, and have always gotten friendly and intelligent answers. My only complaint is that they sold my husband a clam (as a gift for me) without asking him if he knew that high level lights were needed. But it worked out in the end, as I used that as an excuse to upgrade my lighting system. I would recommend this store to anyone who has a marine aquarium. read more

My boyfriend and I went here looking to have some questions answered about starting a saltwater tank. We stopped in just after 8 pm and we're expecting agitated employees to hurry us to leave. WE WERE WRONG! Josh, the employee working there was by our side every minute in the store. He showed us some cool corals under black light, answered all 1000 questions we had and showed us every fish and gave details about them to us. Personally I really love urchins so he made a point to show us all of his urchins. He also talked to us about the benefits of shrimp and different types of snails and crabs in the tank. I was blown away about how thorough and in depth his answers were. He was really spectacular and I feel very confident about going back again! They make their own brine and provide food for mandarins there, as the food is difficult to start a colony of. However he told us how to do that too! He really seemed to know what he was talking about and it was very obvious he cares about these animals! We live pretty far away from this store however if we lived closer, this would be our absolute go to for all of our aquatic needs! read more
