Guys at the shop are great. As the name suggest this is an elite shop. So do your research before attempting to walk in and buy anything. This "hobby" is not for the faint of heart, for those of us with the stamina to do it; this is your shop.

The only elite things about this place are incompetence and dishonesty. My tank was fully intact for more than three years. They moved it this weekend. Within two days, it cracked at the bottom, leaking 60 gallons of water into my house and causing major flooding. Company refuses to accept responsibility.

THE AQUARIUM UTOPIA: About Fish Is the Legend Made Real!…read more Hold the siphon--I'm logging off the forums just long enough to write this. About Fish isn't merely a local fish store; it is the absolute holy grail of the aquatic hobby. Walking in is less like entering a retail space and more like stepping into a private, meticulously curated gallery. Whether you're nursing a single Betta or masterminding a massive, professional-grade system, your search for excellence ends right here. This store doesn't just meet the gold standard; it invented it. The Staff: Certified Aquatic Gurus, Not Just Employees The people at About Fish are nothing short of aquatic philosophers. Their passion isn't just deep--it's Mariana Trench deep. On my most recent, panicked visit, I cornered a staff member (shout-out to Asher, the Water Chemistry Guru) to discuss my devastating bout with Hexamita (Hole-in-the-Head disease) in my Discus tank. Instead of a vague anecdote, I received a detailed, clinical-grade protocol--complete with a timeline, specific chemical ratios, and best practices for surgical isolation. Their collective expertise spans the entire aquatic spectrum, from the finest nuances of Amazon biotope setups to the dark arts of tuning highly complex \text{CO}_2 injection systems. This level of professional, hands-on dedication is simply priceless. The Livestock: Surgical-Suite Clean and Mythically Healthy! If I could award a sixth star for livestock health alone, I absolutely would. The display tanks at About Fish are hospital-grade clean--you could practically perform surgery on the substrate. There are no signs of ich, no clamped fins, and absolutely zero evidence of the stress and disease commonly found elsewhere. Their stringent quarantine process results in livestock that transitions into home tanks with a near-flawless success rate. Aquatic Jewels & Plant Nirvana: They stock specimens I thought only existed in online wishlists: Mythical Red Arowanas, intensely colored F1 Wild-Caught Discus that look like living canvases, and L-Series Plecos that truly defy belief. The planted section is a hydroponic metropolis, lush, diverse, and miraculously, completely free of pest snails or algae blooms. Their selection includes everything from rare carpeting plants and massive Anubias specimens to difficult-to-culture Eriocaulon species. The Inventory: A Secret Weapon Cache for the Dedicated Hobbyist About Fish doesn't stock junk. Their dry goods area is a perfectly curated arsenal of the industry's elite equipment. They consistently carry the niche, high-performance gear you usually have to wait weeks for online: the latest pumps, titanium heaters, professional-grade testing consumables, and hard-to-find supplements. They are experts at matching the right tool to your tank's exact needs, and their pricing is unbeatably fair, providing incredible value for such premium quality. Final Verdict: Your Aquatic Manifest Destiny! About Fish transcends the concept of a store. It's an immersion center, a learning lab, and a genuine anchor for the fish-keeping community. If your aquatic journey demands the healthiest livestock, expert, surgical advice, and equipment built to last a decade, look no further. This isn't just a five-star store that Marc Sherman has created; it's the hobbyist's manifest destiny! Go now!

Unfortunately I trusted the advice given to me by Jacob and I purchased a flower horn blue polar parrot hybrid juvenile. When I got home and did some more research I realized how unfit my tank is for this type of fish. It has already began eating the fins off of my long fin Cory's and it is also going after the Khuli loaches. I now have to rush around and try to find a different home for this fish. Extremely disappointed. I would not recommend going here unless you know what you are looking for and you know not to take their advice cause they are only trying to sell you fish you don't need can't provide for. I feel extremely taken advantage of.

I was hesitant to ask questions after being scolded by and shunned by a different store but the guy there was very helpful, informative and inclusive. I didn't feel like I was being preached to. We left with 5 fish and some bacteria stuff. 6 days later and they still seem happy and healthy. We will be going back in the future. It felt like everything was happening at once -- and I truly needed guidance, reassurance, and kindness in that moment. Love was absolutely amazing. Not only knowledgeable, but genuinely compassionate and patient. I never once felt rushed or dismissed -- just supported. Rumi also went above and beyond, answering my emails almost instantly and making sure I had the information I needed right away. That level of responsiveness made all the difference during a stressful situation. What could have been a total disaster turned into a reminder that there are still businesses that truly care about their customers. Their kindness, expertise, and willingness to help meant more to me than I can express. If you're looking for a fish store that treats you like family and stands by you when things go wrong, this is the place. I'm incredibly grateful. Having driven 45 minutes to the store with my water sample, which I tested against test strips, don't buy those, I was told the phosphates were too high. They don't include phosphates as a red flag unless they're going to deny you. My nitrate was too high? Nitrate is a normal part of a tank cycle. I've never qualified buying new fish based on having to do a tank change the day before purchase. And phosphate! Serious? Do you even sell that test kit? I've never seen it before. After spending $500 in one week you could do me the courtesy of saying "bring a water sample, it doesn't matter we're not giving you a thing." Notes: they are super friendly and helpful when you're buying something. Just don't expect much. They had a dead fish in one of the tanks that my son pointed out that had been there for at least a day. At least that's what the pleco was thinking. Now, find the tank. They have a 48 hour doa policy. They won't budge, trust me. Ask my seven year old who spent $35 on a butterfly pleco only to have it die within a week. $17.50 would have been enough for me, more than fair I said. Finally, even if you live in Elizabeth or Parker, and you are five minutes away from the store, drive the extra 45 minutes to Wheat Ridge and go to The Fish Den. Tell Michael Jason sent you. They have a better rating than MC Aquatics. Here are my readings according to an API freshwater master test kit ($40 at petsmart) Ph 7.4 High range pH 7.8 Ammonia 0 ppm Nitrate 0 ppm Nitrite 0 ppm See the pic below. Finally Phosphates: that's a joke. Good luck knowing that. You're welcome. Next time you tell someone nitrate is a 39, make sure that you tell them what the safe range is. And to think, you guys normally charge $6.00 for a water check. Buy your own test kit and save yourself the headache. Date of incident, June 17, 2025 Water sample from the same day.

Then don't sell online!!!! Or actually purchase insurance to cover replacements including shipping Out of curiosity I went to the post office and the UPS store near my house and asked them the overnight shipping cost for the box they sent with water in all the bags and it was half what they charged for shipping costs Keep in mind they charged $15 for all the packaging material DON'T ORDER FROM THIS STORE Shop at your local store this company is a scam by using bait and switch tactics with pics, offloading undesirable female live bearers, poorly packaging the fish, forcing the purchase of useless insurance, and deflecting blame back onto the customer I asked how this would be if I paid the $60 shipping and packaging for the eel to be replaced and it also arrived dead they had no answer They may be nice in person but they have no problem cheating online customers
