My mom and I stopped by Elizabeth Farms to check out a friend's stunning holiday display inside the barn, and wow her décor and ornaments alone were worth the trip. Absolutely gorgeous! The grounds here are beautiful, wide open, and full of that classic Christmas tree farm charm. Tractor rides run constantly, pulling families all around the fields. There's a BBQ food truck onsite, a playground area for the kids to burn off their energy, and grab-and-go bundles of tree branches if you're just looking for a little festive greenery. I wasn't there to buy a tree, but I did notice the prices seemed pretty steep compared to other farms in the area. Luckily that didn't impact my visit, since I was really there for the atmosphere and to support my friend's small business set-up. Overall, it's a lovely spot if you want the full holiday experience tractors, wreaths, cozy barn vibes, and plenty of Christmas cheer. They are EXPENSIVE but the trees are great and the atmosphere is super quaint and Christmas-y. They do go the extra mile with the service, the tree is wrapped tighter, check out is more convenient, etc. you're getting price gouged on a tree no matter where you go so if it's in the budget spend more here and get a way nicer one. read more

We've been going here for years for our Christmas tree. The price m gouging has gotten a bit out of hand but we love it here so much we still continue to go. The fall "festival" however was a complete disappointment! I could not believe they charged for this. It cost of $40 (2 adults and 2 children) for literally nothing. I expected the bbq food trucks and other food they usually have, the full bar, the fire pits, the music....nope. It was a playground, a tiny corn maze and a small field of rotten pumpkins that were an additional cost. The "food and drinks" was a tiny shack serving hotdogs. This place can do great things but they definitely failed with their fall activities. Still so mad I paid $40 for it read more

This farm has been a beloved tradition for generations, we had not been here since the pandemic and this year after hearing about the sheep and the highland cattle and other introductions, we were eager to return. Sadly, it has lost the charm. We were accustomed to paying a premium for a tree in exchange for the amazing experience but sadly the charm is gone. The wagon that dropped us off informed us that he was out of axes and told us to wait till the next wagon came to see if they had one. The Frazier firs start at $200 and are small and spindly. The sheep are on a far off hill and not accessible. The local wine and beer tent was a nice add but the tree decorated in Budweiser lites was a bit tacky and sad compared to the charm that once surrounded the gift shop. It's so sad and I will miss this part of our Christmas tradition greatly. read more

Now, they do have affordable $25 trees available if you like ones with bare spots, broken branches and brown needles all over them. Merry Christmas. How would you like to be these new owners? They spent almost $4 million to buy the place. One of the partners has already (wisely) got out. They've botched the tree season and set a record for 1-star reviews. Those customers will never be back. Zoning/permit issues are bringing their projects to a halt. Its clear they have no plan. Now we're going into a recession with rising interest rates. My husband and I have been coming here for 8 years and we have always loved coming here! It's become a tradition. Yesterday's experience was certainly not great at all and I really hope management takes these complaints seriously about yesterday's opening. It was truly a not so great experience. It felt very understaffed and no one seemed in charge or was giving direction. The lines were SO long. We had never waited in line this long before. I understand it was a further field but there should have been more tractors and wagons! Everyone I talked to was there for about 4 hours! I'm normally pretty patient but people were cutting in line! It was chaos! It got so late by the time we left, there was a long line after dark! It's not safe to cut the trees in the dark with all those stumps! I even saw people walking back as we drove out because they didn't want to wait for the wagon! I will say the new layout at the entrance is nice! But I rather y'all step up your game and focus on fixing the problems of yesterday rather than your new layout, brewery and restaurant. Think about the main focus of your farm please! We waited in line for half an hour to get a tag, then 40 minutes to get a ride to the trees (which ended up only being about 100 yards away). Then waited for the wagon to come back and get filled up, then waited in line to pay. If you're fresh out of a big city or something this all may seem charming, but for ya it was much a do about nothing. We've visited many other cut-your-owns in the area and all are MUCH more charming and WAY more affordable. But here's where it turns bad. We paid nearly $90 for the smallest tree we've ever had (6.5'), and it completely died in 2 weeks flat. Wouldn't drink a drop of water, wasn't anywhere near a heat source, etc. my wife reached out to the farm, with no response at all. So we went to Stauffer's of Kissel Hill, got a prettier, much bigger tree for $35. It drinks water like it should and looks worlds healthier. If you want to cut your own, I'd recommend Abe's, Hunt's, Martin's or anywhere other than this tourist trap. Do a google search and you'll see a lot of reviews by other dissatisfied customers too. We just returned from a lovely day out to the farm! We picked out a lovely full tree around 8 1/2 feet tall for $39.95...a great day! They offer complementary hot chocolate and coffee and candy canes in the gift shop, where they have a variety of ornaments, and decor items at great prices! We picked out a few lifelike bird ornaments for our tree this year only $2-$4 apiece! The horse drawn wagon ride was very charming. They had multiple wagons going so we only waited a minute or two until we could ride. It lasted about 10 or so and you go by a beautiful lake and through some woods over the bridge. The employees were all very nice and helpful . I had several stop and ask me if I needed help finding things. They also have bbq sandwiches ($7-$9)and roasted almonds, however we already had dinner plans so we did not try them...smelled good though! I started going to Elizabeth Farms with my kids in 2005 and have been going every year since. My daughter now 21 still loves the tradition of going to cut down our tree. But over the past 5 years the farms has taken a drastic change and not for the better. I have pictures and videos of my kids enjoying horse drawn wagon rides, a full gift shop packed with items, the smell of fresh roasted nuts filling the air, and an over-all down home feel. But over the past 5 years this place has taken a turn for the corporate / commercial life and greed. Prices of the trees have skyrocketed beyond belief, and we no longer have the experience we once had. It's all about food and wine, and filling corporate profits, taking away the memories and fun we once had. I know a lot of people like this place today, but sadly they don't know what it once was and how it was just simple family fun. And last year I even saw new barns replacing where we once hiked to cut our trees. My daughter and I agreed it's not what it used to be and last year will be our last year at this place. $215 to put a 7 1/2 foot tree in my house is crazy. I know friends who purchase a 14 foot tree this year, cut your own, for $116. I paid twice as much for half the tree. I always justified the price because of the experience, but the experience is no longer there and that's a shame. Good-bye Elizabeth Farms. We come every year but this year SUCKed. You can't cut your tree down , no horse ride anymore .. the trees are $119- $150 for a small tree , 5-7ft ( not even full/pretty), not many trees to pick from, no employees to ask questions to.. the train room the train wasn't working .. we paid $25 for the Santa pic and it was printed with lines all down it ( I complained so they emailed me one)... I just wasn't impressed this year. And probably won't be back next year and we always go , it was a tradition. read more

Over rated tourist trap. Yes the horse drawn wagon is a great touch and yes they have acres of tree everywhere. But, they are over priced. Paying almost $80 for a tree that is barely 7ft tool is ridiculous, and you better hope it's nothing fancy or that may cost you an additional $15-$20 depending on the variety. Go to Wagners instead. Making memories is what we do with our children, especially around the holidays! We came to Elizabeth Tree Farm to experience the thrill of riding a horse drawn wagon to hand select and cut down our own very special Christmas Tree. Our kids were so excited on the 40 minute drive up. We arrived early because we had theatre tickets at 3pm that afternoon and wanted to leave plenty of time. We arrived at 10 am and as we walked up it was confusing because there were two sizable lines. We were told by people in the "wagon line" that we could not get in that line until we had our tree tag. The "tree tag" line took about 45 minutes to an hour- Just to get a tag with our last name on it because there were only 2 people servicing this massive line. Then we waited another hour and a half in the wagon line to go and select a tree. We did not get to the tree location until 1pm. We found our tree quickly and waited for another 20 minutes for the wagon to bring us and the tree back to the area where they shake and wrap it. An empty wagon came right by us and passed us by (saying we could get the next one), so we waited yet again. Finally, the wagon came to get us and our tree. They cleaned and wrapped the tree for us, and we waited for another wagon to come back for us. At this point we cancelled our theatre tickets as it was close to 2pm and clear we'd be missing our show that was scheduled for 3pm. The wagon arrived and they called our name (we saw our tree go on the wagon). They told us the tag ripped and so to hold onto the portion that ripped off- so we did as they said. We rode the wagon back to pay for the tree. When we got off the wagon and they called our name. My husband explained that the tag ripped off and the guy said that is ok, take them both to the register in the gift shop, pay and then come back and get your tree. We did that and paid $96 for our tree and came out to retrieve the tree. We went over and the gave the guy our ticket and he could not find our tree. There were about 8 guys there working, and no one could find our tree. It was devastating to say the least. The guys offered to refund us and we could select a precut tree. I could have selected a precut tree at Costco. We wanted the tree that we waited hours for, picked out, sawed down and brought back. Is that not the entire point of Elizabeth Tree Farms? Getting our money back was an expectation. But, that does not replace the horrific experience of waiting for hours and then you losing our tree. My entire family was extremely disappointed. Bill, the owner, says to us, "this never happens" as if that makes up for it. Well, it happened to us and we will never ever forget it, nor will we ever come back. We will be certain to pass along our experience to all that will listen. After 4 wasted hours with a terrible ending, we left Elizabeth Farms without our tree. I hope for the sake of others, Elizabeth Tree Farms will learn how to run a better business in the future. They should have signs and directions, enough staff to handle large crowds, and train their employees to take better care of the trees. There is significance in picking out a special tree and cutting it down. When that is taken away, the entire experience is for naught. read more

We have been going to Elizabeth Farms for 4 years now. Tree quality has gradually gone down hill. Our first two years we found a tree quickly. The last two it has been a chore. This year we were getting two trees. When you get there you get a tag for your trees. I forgot to get two. But when we got our second tree we marked it with a scarf . They tagged it when we got back. We went into the shop got our hot chocolate shopped for ornaments for probably an hour. I paid for trees while my wife was still looking at stuff. I went to get trees and load them on the car. When they looked for the trees they only had one of them. They gave one of my trees to someone else. The tags for the trees have numbers on them . How hard is it to match up numbers for god sake! The yard manager offered a refund for the missing tree. Or to pick one out of the precut section. Duh ya think?! As I said already the quality of the trees has gone downhill. The precut trees were bad. I told my wife and she was pissed. After three hours looking for trees they gave one away!!! They owe us more than a refund for the missing tree! So the yard manager ended up giving us the tree we did have for free. In finishing the people are nice, manager did satisfy us, shop is nice, Santa's workshop is good. Lights are ok. I wouldn't pay $15 to drive through there. I could find plenty of neighborhoods with better lights for free. Quality of trees has gone down. Will probably be looking for a new farm to go to. read more

After driving 30 miles to go to the farm which advertised cut your own trees, a horse drawn wagon with a calendar of events and hours of operation we arrived to be told they'd reached their quota of Cut your own trees and we could pick from precut only trees. Also the wagons would only go up and down the driveway for the kids. Well that was a complete waste of time that could have been avoided by updating a web page!! They advertise the biggest tree farm in Lancaster County, but you can't actually cut a tree??? Huge disappointment at the lack of professionalism from a business. After 3 hours I finally got my bailed, self cut tree for $11 a foot ($70 or so) from Elizabeth Farms. I realize you are paying for the experience here, but this experience was absolutely unacceptable. The 3 hours wait was only AFTER I carried my own tree back from the field (probably at least 3/4 mile) or else it would have been at least another hour to hitch a ride on a wagon... And 75% of the wagons weren't horse drawn by the way. Add additional wait time for that. We're not the only ones who carried them off either. I have photo evidence of at least 6 others carrying trees back after 90+ minute wait (see pic) after cutting the tree in the field. And that's just a snapshot in time, I imagine many others did as well. 100s of others were still waiting at the top of the hill for a ride that might come in 60-90 minutes. If you are up for wasting 3-4 hours and overpaying for your tree, have at it! They could have had a repeat customer for life (My first daughter is only 1 and if we enjoyed it we would have went back annually), but it's once and done for me at Elizabeth Farms. No clue how this place has such high reviews, unless they are deleting the hundred of negative ones they should get from customers based on today alone. I mentioned this to my checkout and obviously there is no discount for carrying your own tree even if it's after an unacceptable wait. She mentioned the same complaints were received about the return trip yesterday. Seems that it's a standard operating practice at this place. This place is horrible. Don't bother. We were faithful customers up until last year. We had a terrible experience and will never return. It was an unorganized mess there. We had to wait in line to get a ticket, a line for the wagon, a line to return on the wagon, a line to pay and finally a line to pick up our tree. They lost/gave away our tree to someone else. My children then both started to cry. It took us 2 hours to get the tree and then it disappears. Luckily we were able to get our $77 back for the 7.5 foot tree my children had picked. There were at least 50 people working there but if someone was in charge it was not evident. read more

We have planned for several weeks to take our family, including two young grandsons, to the farm for a memory-making experience today. We planned a special sleep-over night at grandma and grandpa's house. I purchased a book to teach my grandsons about tree farming and what to look for on our wagon ride into the fields. Having also been to a corn maze earlier in the fall and learning how corn grows, we were all VERY excited about this experience. BUT we learned last evening that the "quota" of trees to be cut down for the season has been reached and therefore no more wagon rides into the fields to cut down a tree. We are deeply disappointed and now have to explain this change in plans to two excited little boys. Pretty pathetic. When I drive by this area on Route 501, I see thousands of trees. Since today is the advertised last day for the wagon ride/tree-cutting experience, we do not understand why an accommodation could not be made to fulfill the advertised experience.
