This was a great find!! I grew up in the valley and remembered how pretty the area was bit had never been to Elk Creek before. What a gorgeous place! About 10 min off the highway, right next to a beautiful creek, nestled in a picturesque valley, this campground has it all. Nice clean, rustic cabins and large camped spots, dog park, fishing and great WiFi. LOL The service was great and the staff was friendly and accommodating!!

Great area, beautiful views, rent the paddle board. The staff is next level amazing and really go out of their way to make you feel at home!

It was almost 9pm on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and we couldn't get to our hotel in Eagle due to a massive accident on the 70. We were on a cross-country road trip with our two dogs, and every hotel for miles was booked solid. I called Elk Creek in the hope of getting a campsite to just park and sleep in our truck. To my surprise, Rachel answered the phone and told us they had a cancellation and could offer us a cabin next to a rushing creek! Let me tell you- that this snafu in our trip turned out to be the highlight! The campground owners kept the store open for us to arrive and made sure we had everything we needed. They were so welcoming and kind, and when I say this campground is beautiful and peaceful, it's an understatement. Our cabin was perfect, the bathroom was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked, and even the other campers couldn't have been nicer. Huge thanks to our hosts, who just recently took over management. We'll be making Elk Creek Campground our go-to spot to stay next time, and hopefully, for more than one night!

What a fantastic time! This is what I pictured all camp grounds would be when I bought my motorhome. (I've quickly learned most are just disappointing.) This was such a beautiful place with a stream to fish or swim in, fire pits, nice picnic tables, great hookups, BEAUTIFUL flower arrangements, and cute cabins if you don't have a camper. This place has a new owner who truly cares about the property. We will definitely come back here.

My wife and I needed to be in the Glenwood Springs area for a family emergency with short notice. Every RV Park and campground within a few hours was completely booked. No one was willing to work with us. I called Elk Creek and after talking to Shane and explaining our plight, he said "give me a few minutes and I'll call you back". I figured that was it, I'd never hear from him again. Sure enough, not only did he call back, he found a spot for us. I had no idea how long we would need to be in Colorado, but Shane said, "just get here and we'll figure it out". They accommodated us for three months! We moved RV sites three times, but they made it easy and worked around our schedule. Every site in the cozy campground is excellent. Located 5 minutes up the mountain from the quaint little town of New Castle CO, Elk Creek is nestled tight in the woods with the creek carving a meandering path through the campground. Fresh snowmelt and rain water rush through the rocky creek bed and tiny water falls creating a soothing symphony of natural music. Mother Nature surrounds you with towering evergreens throughout the grounds. It is a gorgeous piece of property. Shane, the owner has taken a lot of pride in this property by improving everything you can think off including new waste water systems. Each RV spot has its unique positives with some hugging the creek side others tucked in the woods and large rig spots centered amongst the RV sites and the variety of cabins. All of them have new full electric service (50A, 30A and 20A on every pole), new septic runs and great water pressure. They are adding tent only sites on the other side of the creek and are hoping to add more RV sites and possibly even a wedding venue. The entire staff, Mark, Steve, Lisa, Tony, Logan and Shane (and of course his trusty side kick Zeus - one of the smartest and coolest dogs we ever met) were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Shane's communication is excellent. His entire team is spot on, if and when a camper drove over a septic pipe, or a kid clogged a sewer hookup, a truck backed into a water supply, it was always fixed within minutes with little to no disruption. The showers and public bathrooms are clean as well is the laundry service. Overall a great place.

We were referred to Beau at Elk Creek Campground as we lost our previous arrangements and lucked into a spot on the river. We enjoyed our stay and met some nice people.

Note: I detracted one star because all the picnic tables for day visitors have been removed to discourage that activity. The only tables in the park are for the camp sites. We pulled into an empty site, since we did not see tables elsewhere, to have a quick lunch. We got a talking to from one of the park employees that it was not permitted. We were nearly done with lunch so we finished quickly and removed ourselves, making sure the area was as we found it. We then parked up at the trailhead parking. It is a pleasant walk to the base of the falls. Then we headed up the stairs that take you behind the falls as well as to some caves. My husband and his brother did the hike up and around to the top. My sister-in-law and I found a nice shaded bench to enjoy the views while we waited for them to return. It was an overall good experience. I would go back.

The centerpiece of the park is this stunning trio of waterfalls--three streams of water pouring side by side over bright limestone cliffs, surrounded by the kind of lush greenery that feels almost tropical. It was like walking into a Colorado rainforest. Mist from the falls cooled the air, and everything around them felt alive--ferns, moss, chirping birds, and the occasional chipmunk darting across the path. The trails were surprisingly well maintained and easy to navigate. We started with the paved path that led right up to the base of the falls--perfect for just soaking in the view, and even wheelchair accessible. Then we took the Coyote Trail, which loops up around and behind the falls. That's where things got even more fun. The trail winds past a handful of small limestone caves, some of which you can crawl into and explore. One of them opened up into a surprisingly big cavern--we hadn't brought flashlights, but our phones did the trick, and the kids loved it. It felt like discovering secret chambers in a fantasy story. When we made it to the top of the falls, the view was totally worth the mild climb. You could look down and see all three cascades in full, framed by trees and cliffs. And with the mist rising in the sunlight, it felt absolutely magical--like something out of a painting. What I loved most was how much this park offered in such a compact space. Waterfalls, caves, trails, wildlife, creeks, picnic spots--everything felt close and accessible, but never crowded or rushed. It was peaceful, beautiful, and so well kept. Honestly, it's one of the best hidden gems I've stumbled upon in Colorado.

I was simply hoping for a safe, comfortable place to rest before returning to work. Instead, I was welcomed with some of the kindest hospitality I've experienced in a long time. A special thank you to Chris Gomez, General Manager, and Andrea Benedict, Office Manager and Events Coordinator, whose warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness made all the difference. They recognized my reservation, greeted me warmly, and surprised me with a complimentary upgrade to one of their beautiful luxury tent cabins. It completely changed my day. The luxury tent cabin is absolutely immaculate, beautifully decorated, air-conditioned, and thoughtfully designed from top to bottom. The photos online simply don't do these accommodations justice--they're even more beautiful in person. The stunning handcrafted king-size log bed immediately caught my eye, and it was one of the most comfortable nights of sleep I've had in a long time. Every detail has been carefully considered, creating the perfect balance between rustic mountain charm and modern comfort. After a long morning of driving through the mountains, it was exactly what I needed to truly rest, recharge, and prepare for another day on the road. Things have been changing over the last few years here. It was good to see they now have signs in different areas around campsites as where to walk, and where not to walk. They had a special program at the amphitheater on the Saturday that we were there, but they did not allow dogs, so I was unable to go. (I think different national parks and monuments handle this differently, as in Capitol Reef, in Utah, we have been invited to their night events when camping by the presenters themselves.) On recent trips, we have seen some strange things. But this past weekend (during an early and cool part of summer,) we were left stunned by some of the fellow campers. Originally, we booked on recreation.gov to camp for several days. When we arrived, we were able to move to the C section, which is no generators, and is generally more peaceful. Usually, most people are very respectful of other campers. There were young boys at the campsite next to ours who were very loudly discussing how they were killing ants with charcoal briquettes. Later, the father tells them to bury the briquettes in the dirt. The charcoal thing was a bit worrisome with the dry branches all around the campsites. Another night, at 3 AM, a young child is screaming and crying. A few minutes are understandable. This went on for over a half hour. While this campground and area will always be very special to me, camping in my own backyard in the suburbs is more peaceful than camping here during the summer.
