Ami's Acres - Glamping-adjacent with good vibes and surprise mirrors This spot has everything you need to camp comfortably--and maybe a few things you don't expect, like giant bathroom mirrors big enough to check your aura. (Which is hilarious, because I left my makeup and vanity at home with my dignity. Just here to wash my face and vibe with the trees, thanks.) Ladies' bathroom: surprisingly solid. Two toilets, two shower stalls with hooks galore (finally, somewhere to hang the 57 things I bring into a shower). A bench for your stuff = chef's kiss. Double sink setup outside the stalls is a bonus. I didn't expect to have better lighting here than in my actual house. Campsite: long, shaded, and solar panel-friendly. No picnic table, which I did pout about for 30 seconds until I realized I never sit at them anyway. Full hook-ups for those of us who like our nature with a side of electricity. ‍ Staff was great--we got a friendly check-in call around 10am and were offered a personal site tour near Tractor Supply (iconic). Husband backed us in like a pro, no stress. Gold star to him. No individual fire pits at RV sites, which we get--it's dry enough to ignite a marshmallow by looking at it wrong. Communal pits by the office if you're feeling social or want to channel your inner cowboy. There are some long-term residents, which wasn't an issue, but might be nice to have visitors grouped separately--just for the ambiance. Birds and nature sounds = A+. Trains and road noise = present, but meh. By the time we hit the sack, we're toast anyway. Camping sleep hits different. read more

Nice campground, I felt privacy and comfort. The host Craig was very nice and helpful. The bathrooms and showers are clean and the rustic vibe is so cute! We came here kinda as a refresh from road-tripping. I had no problems with the road being close, the trains are louder when they pass by which isn't as often at all. The highway noise kinda faded into the background. Craig asked what kind of car and dog we had to make sure we were comfortable and he picked the best spot for us. Lots of beautiful birds around. Stayed here Friday-Saturday-Sunday to go whitewater kayaking in the local area. Very reasonable prices! Selected a drive-in tent campsite. Was assigned site #65. Nice large site at end of 61-65 "branch". Ground is "solid" (seems to be a Colorado thing); recommend a free-standing tent. Did manage to get a few stakes in to help with tent fly, but it might have been tough if i needed stakes to keep the tent up. Easy walk to nice bathhouse/hot showers (no coins or tokens needed!)/flush toilets. Well-maintained port-a-potty on the 61-65 "branch" in case someone wants a nearby option (eg, at night). Can hear the highway, but i didn't find this to be a big problem. Didn't even notice it while sleeping in the back of my SUV. One note: plan to get here in daylight! Traffic was awful out of Denver, and i arrived at 9:30pm. Decided to park near office and walk with flashlight to find my site. Not easy to drive to find it in the vehicle! Owners very nice! Called me at 7pm to tell me my site #; no problem checking in the next morning. I will definitely use this campground again! read more

Beautiful place to stay. Staff was professional polite knowledgeable. The site we stayed was for a drive in tent and it had a fire pit, benches, electricity, and an outhouse. All very convenient and a beautiful view of the mountain. They had main bathrooms a short distance away with both normal showers(hot water) and cold showers. Bathrooms were very clean and maintained. They had benches a bbq and porch swings available for use. Will visit again on future trips. read more

We stayed for the whole weekend because we were going to the amusement park. Craig greeted me when I arrived and was very helpful with information about the campground and the town. The bathrooms were extremely nice for being a campground. The views were something too! If we came back to the area we will be staying here again! read more

This is a very mixed campsite. The site itself is nice, and the included showers/flush toilets are a bonus that many campsites don't offer. Overall it has a hard pick between 2 or 3 stars. I'll let the photos speak for themselves of how nice the site is. The downsides are it's at best 1/5 of mile from I-70, without any sound barrier (we watched fire engines responding a crash the second morning we were there). Nighttime traffic noise definitely makes sleeping harder. The next negative is the old man who checked us in. He was nice at check in, and then yelled at us, and told us to "Stay on the trail" when my partner was tossing sleeping bags up a hill to me, this comment was followed with "what your doing is fine, but don't walk up up that hill." He then drove off. Very rude and and unnecessary confrontational. read more

The grounds look pretty worn down since I was there the last time which was many years ago. It kinda look like a bunch of homeless people living there, and I was there when the storm king mountain caught fire and many times afterwards, but I would never go stay there again really ran down. read more

Craig was incredibly friendly and helpful in making our reservation and getting us checked in. Our walk in tent site was lovely, and well maintained. The bathrooms were VERY clean, showers had room to get dressed. The location is off the beaten path, yet so close to everything! 10 minutes or less to anything in town. 15 minutes to Hanging Lake We would definitely return anytime we are in the area! read more

Seems that a lot of people are living off the grid here. Needs to be fixed up as it seems very trashy and outdated. The bathroom and shower house is a steep climb and very outdated. We won't come here again unless there are major improvements. read more

I will first say that this was a stay of desperation due to some unforeseen circumstances. They had space so I took it without really reading the reviews. The owners are awesome. I wish I could give 5 stars just for them...but alas, the road in needs major pothole mending. The construction noise all day every day with graders and tractors beeping and banging and crashing made for zero rest. Thankfully it stopped at 5pm. Then there is the noise from the highway, the trains, and the neighboring sites which are literally stacked on top of one another. You can't open your shades without looking into the next site so it leaves you with little to no privacy. The sites are narrow and I couldn't roll out my awning. Then there are the permanent residents with their Sanford and Son clutter and four cars jammed together like an epic game of parking lot. But proximity to town is great. Close to everything if you don't care about all the rest of my review. I would not stay again unless it was an overnight deal. read more

Beautiful campsite that came to our rescue when our campsite on the east side of Glenwood Springs was placed under multiple flash flood warnings. Family owned, friendly staff and comfortable clean amenities with full hook up sites at a reasonable price. Spaces are staggered so you have great views and don't feel like you are on top of other campers. They do offer tent campsites as well with access to restrooms, showers, microwave and toaster for those who are roughing it. Thanks to Craig's friendly service this will be our go to place near Glenwood from now on. read more

My first time camping experience and was by far an awesome experience, this campground can have RV parking or if you just want to set up a tent from your car. It was as Labor Day weekend and all hotels were booked or very costly. We decided to camp. This site is very clean either from the staff or former tenants ensuring to clean up after themselves. In our area we had electric outlets, running water, showers, flushing towelettes and a fire pit. You cannot have fire BEFORE 7pm, so for breakfast or lunch, you must use an electric skillet or go off campground and eat which is 2 minute drive from all restaurants. Not bad. We pulled up in our jeep and set up camp. They were electric outlets to use to fill our air mattress up and to cook. Each section has our own campfire. You can bring your own wood. They provide a grill and grate. Bathrooms provide toilet paper, hand sanitizer, showers, flushing toilets, and towels. They have trash cans and running water to wash dishes as well as RV hook up. It's pretty safe if you're afraid of wilderness stuff as there were other people close by. read more

I'm giving one star due to the poor security of this campground. While my wife and I left briefly to grab a bite to eat, her cell phone was stolen from our tent. If you stay here, DO NOT LEAVE ANY PERSONAL OR VALUABLE ITEMS UNATTENDED even for a minute. The tenants of this campground to not have respect for the property of others. We attempted to call the phone/find its location multiple times and the phone (which had a full charge) had been turned off. People who act in this way give Ami's a bad reputation. read more

Very impressed with this campground! We had a walk in site meaning you park your car and walk to your campsite maybe 50-75 feet with beautiful views of the mountains! Spacious and secluded campground with table and large outdoor fire pit. The bathrooms were nearby and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had to speak to a horribly rude gentleman when booking. Hope he is not the owner. Seemed to be lots of permanent residents at this park. Very messy and cluttered spots. Will stay at Gateway RV park 15 minutes away in Carbondale next time. Beautiful park right on the river! Convenient and beautiful location (close to downtown, close to Hanging Lake, overlook to the mountains). The campground is run smoothly, except that (1) the wifi doesn't really work unless you're at the office, and (2) no hand soap in the women's bathroom, despite the dispenser. We were lucky to have 3 tent sites to ourselves but I think it would be a hassle if 3 random parties have to share the space AND the fire ring with NO privacy. read more

As a nationally touring bicyclist, I found this place to be a good find. While being 20 minutes outside of Glenwood Springs and up a very steep hill was inconvenient, Craig (the owner?) took very good care of me. Tent camping in the lower sites the first night was a mixed blessing for sure. Having water and electrical outlets a few steps away was nice, but having multiple trailer campers about the same distance was a bit much. The second night I moved up to the close walk-in campsites and was very pleasantly surprised. The sites had great artistic touches, pleasant views, more privacy, plenty of room to setup tents and relax, and they were close(ish) to quality bathroom/shower facilities. They only lacked power outlets and individual water access. Thank you for the hospitality, I'd gladly stay in the upper sites again. You might find better rates and better site selection sunday through thursday, and in off peak seasons. Enjoy. read more

Minimalist amenities and unacceptably low water pressure. WiFi is spotty. A long train went by across the river in the night. Its loud noise woke me and kept me up. The campground is right next to the freeway and train tracks, with no sound barrier. But the view from our site of the mountain across the freeway was lovely. read more

As far as camp grounds go, this place really can't be beat! It's a hidden gem, a little outside of Glenwood Springs, next to the Colorado River, right off of the highway, though you wouldn't know it from the beautiful moutainous views! I've actually stayed here twice now and both experiences were great! The people are friendly, the bathrooms are always clean and have ample showers and stalls. Most camp sights even have little pieces of furniture like concrete tables and stumps for stools. The prices aren't bad either. I will definitely return! read more

Pros: 1- Pretty scenery 2- Craig (the owner) was knowledgeable about the Glenwood Springs area and very friendly Cons: 1- Campsites are too close together 2- Quiet time starts at 930pm 3- Campfire is only a night activity 4- 30$/night for a tent site ( it was a group tent site for 4 people) If you want to have a good time camping and plan on staying up later than 930 I would not recommend staying at Ami's Acres. Two different parties complained that my group was too noisy when all we were doing was talking around the fire later than 930. read more

We found this camp to be very convenient for an overnight stay on the way across country. The owner was more than nice! We got a pull thru spot since we were an RV towing a Jeep. It was not very level but we made it work. The camp in terraced off a hill and very quaint. Getting to the office would of been impossible if handicapped, up very uneven steps. It was unusual and I am sure at one time very cute, but now seems old and tired. Needs some revamping. Our site had a small round table that could not be used for anything but setting our small BBQ on. No fire ring. Several permeant or seasonal trailers. We paid $42.00 for full hookups. No cable or wifi. It's right next to the freeway so lots of road noise & train tracks close & loud. read more

$25 per night for a tent site with two power outlets, pull in access, clean flush toilet bathrooms and free hot showers. The showers were very clean and modern and the pressure and amount of hot water was great. There is some highway noise, but other than that it was great. Craig (the owner I presume) was very friendly and knowledgable about the area. I think there was also wifi, but when I saw the network pop up as available, he was already gone so I couldnt get the password. I saw someone on a laptop though, so I assume it works. read more

Because of the fires that closed the Cajon Pass in So. Calif our schedule got really behind. I called Ami"s Acres to tell him we were going to be about 1/2 hour late. Not only was I informed that he wouldn't wait for us but he wouldn't even give us our RESERVED space number. So we were left at 9pm with no place to spend the night. Ended up spending a miserable night in a parking lot. Not a nice guy and he'll never get our business again! read more

LOVED this campsite. Craig was so friendly and helpful with what activities we should do in Glenwood Springs. The facility was well kept and they are pet friendly! We stayed here four nights in a tent trailer. We were given a site near the restrooms. There was not much shade or privacy between sites, but it was clean and the owner was friendly and accommodating. The water tasted very salty, so bring your own. The restrooms were well maintained. One shower had good water pressure, the other a trickle. Either way, it is nice to be able to shower when camping! We would stay here again. read more

It doesn't help that the last place we stayed with our new Airstream was a super luxurious RV Park in Las Vegas. However, this camp ground was just about perfect for what we personally prefer. We parked the Airstream and we had a great view of the river and the highway. It was walkable from the local mall. The only complaint is that the water is indeed very sulfurous. After the first day, we switched over to what we had stored and drank that-- much better. So bring your own water unless you're not sensitive to the local mineral flavor. read more

Great place. Shady areas for RVs and tent camping. Had a back in spot for my 31' travel trailer that looked downhill at the Colorado River and across at the beautiful mountain. Located close to shopping and restaurants. Campground is terraced and on the side of the hill giving everyone nice views. Met and made friends with some of the long term people. Came in handy when asking about what to do and where best to go in the surrounding areas. Wifi is okay but not great. Stayed here 6 weeks and plan on going back. Our children (3 with their kids and husband) came to visit for ten days at a time, separately. They all loved the place. The camp hosts were always helpful with suggestions and provided assistance several times when we had some vehicle problems. At $26 a night it was a very good deal and well worth staying there. If your looking for one of those manicured, spit and polish, perfectly level places then you'll need to go somewhere else and pay a whole lot more money. We like Ami's. Our thanks especially to Craig who was most helpful. Thanks. Oh, and it is quiet and peaceful at night except when the train goes by around 10 pm; but having lived by airbases and train stations its nothing. Enjoyed sitting out star gazing at night.
