I don't know why it's taken me so long to write about EG Park, but after the past visit, it was such a nice experience that I just had to tell the world. This park is huge and has everything - trails, picnic tables, duck pond, frisbee nets, dog park and bike park. The bike park is across the parking lot of the dog park, with plenty of dirt hills for practicing jumps. I've never seen a free bike park before. The dog park isn't separated by big/small dogs and the grass is spotty, but there are some training obstacles and the area is big. I'd rather walk my dog in the actual EG park instead. The weekends are always busy with birthdays, photoshoots, and other parties, but they are spaced out so there is privacy and even low noise when walking around on the path. On rainy days, the canopy of trees keep the path dry in most parts. I love the large pond and watching the ducks, geese, and squirrels. There's always something interesting to look at every season. In the spring you can spot eggs on the island and lots of adorable baby ducks. You used to be able to go on the island, but the bridge is now gated to allow for bird breeding. On this particular day, it was sprinkling and the rain softly falling on the pond with ducks, geese, and their babies' pitter pattering along were just so zen. The majority of the park is lush with green grass and hardly any trash around. There's plenty of trash bins along the path and benches to relax on. If you're lucky, you'll spot a unique bird or two. My favorite is the cormorant that dives for fish on the pond. Whether it's a stroll in the park, a party, doggy play date, or a zen place to run away from your problems, EG Park is my go to.

Such a shame as it was a nice dog park, sort of close to our house. It's been over 15 years since I've been here so the epidemic has probably passed and your are probably safe to bring your dog. There is always the chance you could get kennel cough at a dog park, it's like the common cold in people so it's much less of an issue. Just be safe when you go and make sure your dog is vaccinated. Then you're doing the best that you can. I am overly cautions so after we leave a dog park we always wash the paws as they've been running around and can pick up something that no one is aware of. This park has a lot to offer. There are 2 sand volleyball courts, 2 ponds with fountains, a stream, multiple soft or baseball fields, a soccer field, and large open spaces. I imagine that it gets busy in the spring time during baseball season. They have stadium seating for the onlookers, but I can imagine many people bring their own chairs and shade conversing, umbrellas and such. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, but they have lots of picnic tables and benches available too. The rotary memorial is a big gazebo area with picnic benches and standard benches. We ate in that area as it had all the picnic tables in it and we shared a table with 2 other families. A little cramped, but it was nice to sit down with a table and not just a bench. They hold multiple festivals throughout the year. Today's festival was the Vietnamese New Years Celebration and that was what brought us out to the Elk Grove Regional Park. Last year we came to a similar festival, but it was at another part of Elk Grove. Good thing we relooked at the website to realize it was located here at the Elk Grove Regional Park. The lot to the right was full and was where the festival was located. We continued going straight and then parked on the left right by the first baseball diamond and next to the bathrooms. It was an easy walk to the festival. The park is huge so you may want to scout out to see where your group is located before you park if you don't want to walk too far. We saw lots of people parking in the baseball lot like we did, there were also some unpaved spots along the main road that people were parking. At the festival area there were 2 stages set up. Portable stages, so they aren't park of the Park's amphitheater. We did walk by the park's Amphitheatre and it was closed for the season. Along with the 2 stages set up in one parking lot they had set up bounce houses and other kid friendly activities. They even had a mini train that took the kids on a train ride around the festival. In another parking lot they had community vendors offering free information about services they provide. In another parking lot they had food vendors, pop up tents and food trucks. Between the community vendors they also had venders selling jewelry, key chains, and other do dads. We found a vendor that was selling rice plates and got one, most of the vendors were offering fried foods and my husband wasn't interested. Lots of vendors were offering boba teas, smoothies, and sugar cane drinks. The price when up if you have little to no ice. We didn't see any bathrooms in the area we were in, but they brought in port-a-potties and hand washing stations that were supplied with water, soap, and paper towels. We used them soon as we arrived before they got busy and gross. We loved our time at the Elk Grove Regional Park and because it was such a positive experience, the parking was easy we'll be back for another festival.

Well maintained. The course was completed in 2012 as an Eagle project by a local Scout. There is a charge for park admission but you can join the MGZS and get free admission to the park and zoo. Can be crowded on weekends but usually open during the week.

He also had some loners too! I thought that was super awesome! So I just started tossing money at him. I recently found out about this place from a friend's Instagram story when they went. So I made…read moresure to plan a hike here for when I had time. I was able to come here in the middle of the week around noon. The GPS made this place easy to find. There is plenty of parking here at pena adobe park and lagoon valley park. The hike is located at lagoon valley park, so don't mix those up. You do have to pay $5 for parking, and the machine kiosk was broken when I went, but you can still pay through the park mobile app, which is what I did. The hike is listed as moderate, but felt borderline difficult to me (maybe I'm just out of shape). There is a lot of up hill when you first start, and because there wasn't a lot of shade combined with me going on the hottest day of the week (low 80 degrees), it did make it feel more difficult. After I parked, I was a bit confused on where to go so had to ask someone finishing up their hike for the direction. I was instructed to go up the main trail past the gate for the main trail to the lighthouse at the top. There are lots of trails here, but the one to the top of the hill is the most popular, and probably the most difficult). Once you park in the lot by the lake/pond, you cross the road to the grassy side and follow that trail to the gate that keeps the cows inside. There is another easier hike/walk your can take around the lake/pond, which is mostly flat. The views on this hike are great. Despite it being a little warmer, the breeze helped a lot. I liked the views and made it to the top after about 1 and a half hours. In total, it took me about 2 hours to finish the hike. And that's with a 20 minute break halfway going uphill. Going downhill is a lot faster. I'll be back for one of the other trails and how to bring family and friends to join.

Trees and bushes hide smaller birds and provide shade in spots. It looked like they had lots of picnic tables, playgrounds for kids etc. We were not here long, so I'm sure there was a lot more to see and do.

I am not a hiker at all! But went on a short hike in the early morning. Luckily the day we went, it…read morewasn't too warm. Trails are easy to follow. I did, however, have to make multiple rest stops because I was dying lol. View was gorgeous and the picture does not do justice. There were maybe 3 other small groups when we got there but we were so spread apart that we didn't run into each other. On the way back down, I had a mishap and my shoelace hoop hooked onto my other shoes hook and I took a nice fall. It was my mistake and not the trails. I didn't even try to fix my mistake because as we were nearing the parking lot, I tripped again (same reason) and I fell on the rocks right before the asphalt. We had a good laugh. The employee who was on the golf cart was on his way back and saw me on the ground. He kindly asked if I needed help but I was too busy laughing and embarrassed that I declined his help. This will definitely be a memory to remember!

Such a beautiful park slightly hidden away in the small city of Ione. The park is HUGE offering 4…read morebaseball diamonds, 4 soccer fields, a skate park, disc golf, and 2 tennis courts. If that wasn't enough 2 play structures AND a designated dog park and of course lots and lots of grass to relax under the trees. The bathroom facilities we're ok, with toilet paper available. ps. Make sure to tour the small surrounding towns to grab a bite to eat and help the small local shops survive during these trying times.

Went here today for a company retreat. What fun! A fantastic venue for so many things. The…read moreweather was mild, the grounds beautiful, the kitchen and meeting auditorium, awesome and huge. There's a horse arena...a really big one with stands for the audience, plenty of places to explore and trail walk, lots of local wild flowers in bloom (watch out we did find a few patches of poison oak-"leaves of 3, let it be")! There's a lovely picnic area, many playgrounds for the kids, a baseball diamond and much more. We were fortunate enough to have our camp cooks on site for a remarkably good lunch with entrees consisting of a sun dried tomato pasta, bbq chicken with a ricotta cheese topping, pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, and a baby greens salad with cherry tomatoes; dessert cookies that were "out of this world" (smores-oatmeal and raisin & chocolate chip) Camp folks really know how to put on a good spread. Host your next event in Ione if you need lots of space, need to accommodate lots of people and would like a beautiful and nature filled venue!

It's kind of too wide open and too close to a busy intersection and sadly the immediate neighborhood of this park has gone downhill so it's not the safest. I wouldn't come at night, but it's pretty chill by day and I don't see any "activities" in daylight. The equipment and facilities are also kind of worn out and need to be updated. We only brought our kids here once or twice as the 95831 has many parks and there are definitely quite a few others that are better. Still it's good this park is here for the kids and families within walking distance. And it's relatively safe since it is right next to a fire station so I'm sure the less positive activities are more discouraged here. Lots of open space and grassy area, plus there's tennis courts that stay open till late, very brought lit, so that's a big positive if you're looking for a place to play tennis or the latest trend of pickle ball. This park has open courts that are usually not busy. There are also a small bball court and a skate park here, so a variety of activities for everyone. The one special feature I see people use a lot here is the disc golf course which looks cool and fun, but what do I know, lol. There are bathrooms here, but they do not look that great, so I did not try using them.

But the trail for golf seems over grown and very full of weeds and stickers that will attach to fluffy dogs if not careful. There were about 5 cars that looked like either someone was living in or very broken down. There were two people who were enjoying their day with chairs and their dogs off leash but didn't bother myself or my dog. It's a decent park and if you have kids the play ground looked fun!

However the new frisbee golf makes that kinda impossible for kids to hang out in the more trees/hills. I wish whoever was in charge of these parks was a little more conscious of where kids like to go when deciding to put the frisbee golf in, and what does that say about future decision making
