Service, food and ambience were great. Price was right, too. The trout sandwich was tasty and the beer was cold!

The resort was fun and relaxing however, there were items on the menu at the resort restaurant that were not available. We did not have cell phone service at our cabin online. It showed that we would have a landline service at our cabin however, it did not work I reported it to the front desk and they told me that it was unknown problem throughout the resort that they were unable to get fixed. we stayed in the ERICA cabin and it was super clean very comfortable although the couch needed a great deal of updating the cabin was very cool with the AC running. The bed was super comfortable when it was very hot. The cabin was in a very secluded shaded area along the river. We did get amazing service at the resort restaurant by Autumn. She was our waitress every time we dine there and she provided amazing service and deserves a promotion. She is an exceptional waitress and make sure her customers are happy and meets the needs of their dining experience. The front desk seem to be unsure about any of our concerns regarding the phone not working the TV literally being 14 inches to corner and diameter in the bedroom. If you are like my husband and I we have to have the TV on to fall asleep at night and this caused a great deal of issues. The TV was so tiny. I am a germaphobic. to the point that I do not shower, barefoot or sleep on the sheets or blanket provided by the resort, hotel, motel and breakfast, etc. at this resort I felt completely comfortable walking around barefoot taking a shower barefoot and I even slept in the sheets that we're already on the bed even though we brought our own to put on the bed just in case the only changes we made is we took the beautiful quilt off the bed and use our blanket that we brought from home and that's only because from experience the quilts don't always get laundered every time the place is cleaned. Not to say that this does not happen at this resort but in past experiences, this has happened at other resorts hotels/motels so we just play on the safe side if you are a germaphobe you will feel quite at home there is no dishwasher in the ERICA cabin and there is no Wi-Fi at the ERICA cabin. I did utilize the washer and dryer to wash a blanket and it worked perfectly. They provided laundry detergent, fabric softener, and they had little bottles of shampoo and conditioner for use when showering One thing I do want to mention is that if you rent the ERICA cabin, you do have to carry all your belongings across a fairly long bridge to get to your cabin. The cabin is not accessible to motor vehicles. as far as the restaurant is concerned, we did not have a single bad meal. Everything was excellent but it was $20-$30 a plate depending on what you ordered and if you ordered a soda, it was almost 3 dollars Per person they did have a nice gift shop where you could buy shirts and different souvenirs and of course, if you are a fly fisherman, this is a fly fisherman's Paradise. We did not go there to fish. It was nice and relaxing to just stand there and watch the trout swim in the water overall I do recommend this place and I would go back again. It was a wonderful getaway for the weekend just to forget about everything that is going on in your present life and stress that you deal with daily. This is a must stop. We came for summer at snowshoe and we will have our dinners here every evening. Service and food is awesome. The fishing is catch and release but you can fish the keepers ponds and pay by the pound. We wish we would have found this when we first got here. Elk Springs Resort is a must for any fly fishing fanatics bucket list! Patrick and his staff are simply incredible! It is easy to compare the hospitality and service to some of the finest resorts in the country. The food is amazing, the duck is out of this world. Randall in the fly shop is extremely knowledgeable and helpful with getting you ready for a day on the water. Cassie and everyone in the restaurant were an absolute pleasure to dine with. We happened onto this trip my chance but I can assure you that we will make Elk Springs Resort an annual destination. Fantastic place to fish, relax, dine and enjoy the outdoors! read more

Bottom line up front: I would not return to Elk Springs Resort, nor recommend it to my friends. First, the good. The restaurant staff and food were excellent. Now for the not so good: 1. We stayed in the lodge. Immediately we were confronted with numerous signs prohibiting wear of studded wading boots and warning of a $500 fee if damage were detected to the floor which was freshly refinished in a manner totally inconsistent with a fishing and hunting lodge. The floor looked more like it belonged in a ballroom or a mansion. The warnings necessitated several trips up and down a long flight of stairs to stage our wading boots on the outside porch to dress and undress from our waders. The signs were threatening and scolding in tone. They did not make us feel welcome. 2. We stayed in the "Sea Suite" which had only a flimsy lock on the door and an inoperable ADT-type alarm system. There was a (long time) broken, non-usable soap dispenser in the shower, and a large assortment of dead insects on the bathroom window sill. There were no screens on the balcony door or bathroom window, so we could not leave them open to enjoy the cool evening air. 3. We were the only guests in the lodge and that gave rise to a security concern. Other than the flimsy door lock. There was no phone in the room to call for help, and the lodge doors were unsecured at night. All in all, we had a feeling that we were isolated and on our own, even though we were on "resort" property. 4. There were, again, t"non-welcoming" signs on a footbridge to cross the Elk river, leading to a cabin area. The signage warned that the river area and bridge itself were off limits to other than those residing in the cabins. The fishing opportunities on that side of the river were much better. The first day, we went with a resort guide to cross over to that fishing area (apparently you can use this resort area if you have a resort guide). On our return for lunch, one of the "cabin" guests complained to the resort management that we had encroached on his privacy. It seems unfair and ridiculous to prohibit paying guests from access to a particular portion of the resort property. 5. This prohibition resulted in large part from our decision to depart a day early. My wife had injured her knee the day before, while crossing a rocky and difficult stretch of the river. I was told that we could not use this bridge on our own to cross the river the next day, and instead had to find a place to cross by wading the river, which would have been difficult for my wife. 6. When I inquired of the guides for a good place to fish the next day, they were non-specific. There was no strip map of places to fish, off property, or how to get to them. It was a do it yourself kit. As a paying guest, I expected more. 7. The fishing itself was disappointing It was relatively late in the season (early July), and there was an abundance of trout. However, even with an experienced guide, we were unable to determine which flies to use and what techniques were most effective. The catch for an all-day outing was three trout, and three "pre-net releases." The trout were seriously "fished out." 8. All in all, except for the restaurant, our experience did not match our expectations. I will not recommend this experience to my friends. read more

I stayed in the lodge last weekend. The room and lodge was clean and welcoming, but the beds were so hard it was impossible to sleep. There were four people in our party, two of them left after the first night because of the uncomfortable beds. We went out to the lobby early morning to sit and be comfortable on the couches, and found people from all the other rooms sleeping on the couches because they were not able to sleep in their beds either. The food at the restaurant was great and the people were friendly. We would have had a good stay had everyone not been cranky and sore from poor nights sleep. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful. Can't say enough good things about my experience. Good food, great lodging, and an amazing fly shop. I hooked into some great rainbows and snapped off a nice brownie. If you time your visit with a good hatch, you'll have the time of your life. I hate leaving reviews like this but this company was the worst! We checked in on Sunday at buchaven cabin. Loved the cabin but when I began filling up the jacuzzi tub water began coming out of the floor(BUSTED PIPES)! There was also mold in a few corners of the cabin. This cabin had serious water damage! We called the main office to have someone look at it. The person on the phone said oh yeah that cabin is scheduled to have new floors put in! We asked that we be compensated somehow and we're told a manager would need to call us....we called on Thursday and here we are Sunday and still nothing!!! We went to the main office but as a customer your not allowed to come in almost like they don't want to be bothered by you!! I will stick with my gut next time and rent from Gatlinburg Falls again! This company will never get our business again!!! Renters beware!!! read more
