While on the resort though, I did like how the lodging looked. If I were to go back I definitely would instead just go ahead and stay on the mountain resort because driving through the woods / mountain to get to and from the resort to the air bnb was not fun at all; especially at night! Snow tubing: we went snow tubing during the night time. There weren't too many other people there during this time, so the line to keep tubing over and over wasn't much of a wait at all. I give the experience a 10/10 overall. It was fun and different. Snowboarding: when we first got into all our gear and equipment, we were just told to go outside. We were all under the impression that we would receive a tutorial or instructional presentation about first time snowboarding, but that did NOT happen. Had entirely no clue there was even a "practice" area until after I slipped and fell on the ice and my snowboard went flying down the mountain and into the woods. I went and got help from the emergency team who then informed us that there was a practice area to go to first. I ended up staying in that practice area the whole time and completely wasted my money on having a ski lift ticket. I thought a practice area would've been at the bottom of the mountain where we'd start at, so the ski lift ticket would be needed once you're comfortable and can go ski/snowboard from the very top but no, u start at (like get on the actual slope at) and the practice area are both mid - mountain. Overall the experience was a 7/10. It's possible I'll give Snowshoe another try in the future now that I've experienced what it's like. My overall rate of experience : 7/10

You ski right out your door. You swim in an indoor outdoor pool. And if your thirsty, there is a bar/restaurant on the slopes and inside the resort. All the comforts away from home. Each Individual unit is owned and decorated by its owner. So some are going to be more updated than others. We stayed in 5313 and had a fabulous time. This is not an upscale resort. But it is very homey. If you are a long time silver creek lover, you will love that everything has stayed the same. Why the resort gets 3 stars. The restaurant is closed, but you can grab a quick bite in the lounge. The pool is open for 3 different sessions in the evening and you are allowed to go one time and must register. However it is Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday's. Actually most everything at Silver Creek is CLOSED on Tuesday and Wednesdays. What a let down!! . We are at the end of the season, so whatever snow ice they have,, thats all. They stopped making snow in February. Still we look forward to coming back and not waiting another 30 years

The floors were littered with refuse and stains. Everything had the dingy look of a mid-seventies relic. This appeared to be a place where parents with large families check in to allow their children to roam far and wide - we heard them all late into the night! In the lobby were two stores that appeared to offer second hand items and an assortment of odds and ends more akin to a yard sale that a resort. No breakfast available of any sort. No place to get coffee. When asked for options, I was referred to the re-purposed school bus that served as a shuttle to the main facility every thirty minutes.

Top of the World Condos are one of the best located lodging venues at Snowshoe Mountain, WV. It is…read moreone building with about 100 one-bedroom units, and although the building went up in the early '80s, the units - all independently and individually owned - have undergone recent renovations. The building itself was renovated in 2007 and it cheered up its facade, added new siding and paint, and an overall face lift. As a result, it is hard to rate the individual units as a whole. Some are absolutely impeccable, yet some are 1980 originals with the old cheap paneling. The thing about the units. First, one enters through a central hallway, and the main bedroom's windows do not face the outside, but face the inner hallway. Down a corridor, the unit opens up into a great room/dining/kitchen that in almost all cases, features a sofa bed. Some of the units have opened up the kitchen to create a real great room with modernized appliances. The great room has two windows to either the East, facing the Widowmaker slope, or the Western views that are spectacular. The location of Top of the World is amazing. It has the new Soaring Eagle high-speed quad literally outside the Eastern wall, so it's a great place to call home for a ski vacation. Top of the World is one of the check-in venues at Snowshoe, and it also provides a fully-stocked ski shop and a restaurant bar, which frequently changes names, given the high mortality rates of dining establishments at ski resorts. Another great thing about Top of the World is its location next to the new Soaring Eagle Lodge, which features Ember restaurant, the top restaurant within a 200-mile radius. If you have a small family or a small group, it is a relatively inexpensive, good and VERY centrally located place to stay.

Horrible paneling, hideous green carpet, no remote for the LR tv, no paper towels just ONE old linen napkin. Good thing nobody was staying with me. The shower/tub was a little springy and I was afraid that if i stayed in too long I may end up in the ski shop downstairs. I enjoyed the paper thin walls so I could hear the condo next door being renovated. The "fully" stocked kitchen had no glasses bigger than a juice glass. Everything else in the place was very random, like it had been decorated from the Salvation Army. There was a decent bar downstairs and being located right on the slopes were about the only positives for this place. Oh did I mention with tax and other fees I paid $200 for ONE night. Anywhere else this would be a $35 room full of truckers and hookers. Not that I would know anything about those places. Snowshoe Mtn is a great place to ski, just avoid Top of the World condos.

I would call in advance if you plan on staying anytime soon to ensure your stay is worthwhile. We were still able to use the Snowshoe resort activities. Bring food with you! All of the restaurants at Snowshoe are currently takeout ONLY--you must wait outside for your food and with minimal staff wait times are hours. Silver Creek was the only place we were able to sit inside and eat/wait for takeout inside. The front desk receptionist at Corduroy Inn, Teresa, was extremely helpful. She was kind, professional and genuine... we would not have made it through the weekend without her! Thank you so much Teresa! I will also say that the Corduroy Inn was the nicest lodging we saw on the mountain... we ventured inside a few of the hotels looking for food and noticed that none of them were as well constructed, clean or beautiful as Corduroy Inn. The rooms are exquisite and amenities (espresso machine, heated flooring, washer/dryer access) were extremely appreciated. Lacking was luggage carts... that would have helped with all our gear. I would stay here above anywhere else on the mountain though considering these things !

To be clear, the rooms are nice. The problem is in the technology they use, the service, and the billing practices. Firstly, they use an app to get in to your rooms. When I returned to my room after dinner, the app wouldn't work. It said it couldn't communicate with the lock. No problem I'll get another key at the front desk. This led to the second problem, the front desk closes at 4pm. No contact information posted. I look up the phone number on the webpage and call. It goes to an answering machine. I leave increasingly disgruntled messages over the next hour and a half. The temperature is dropping, my seven year old is in a t-shirt, I have access to my room and my car keys are in the room. I send emails to the place, not response. I ask around at the restaurants if there is anyone onsite. No one knows. Finally I ask at the place next door which is part of the same building. The guy says he'll check if his master key will let me in. It works. So good, I get in my room. Bad, the pizza place next door has access to the rooms. Finally, I get the bill today. It includes a 15$ amenity fee and a 45$ cleaning fee. For one night. This isn't a hotel, it's run like an AirBnB without the technology or service. It seems cheaper than renting a condo at the resort, but that's only because the condo rentals post their fees and cleaning charges.

I never took them off course, never did jumps, never went over rocks or sticks. When I returned them, they asked if I bought the insurance and when I said no, they blamed me for two gashes on the skis. If those gashes came from me, then their skis are soft and you shouldn't rent from them anyway. But I'm certain they weren't. There is absolutely nothing I rode over that could have caused that. I should have just walked out but instead paid their ridiculous fee. But lesson learned. Not getting my skis from them again and since they are the main shop in town, I suggest you get your skis out of town (I never had problems with the shop at the bottom of the mountain, but they are connected).

I was assisted…read moreby Levi, who was really knowledgeable about the skis and was able to match them to my ability (advanced Intermediate), performance goals (agile in turns but stiff and secure on ice), and the demands of the mountain given current conditions. Not surprisingly, I ended up on their Demo skis (I am very demanding), but those were still cheaper than even the regular sport skis at the Snowshoe rental places -- and significantly cheaper ($17/day) than Demo skis would have been at Snowshoe. They put a fresh coat of wax on them before giving them to me -- a very nice touch (and much appreciated). I recommend reserving your skis 24 hours in advance online to get the 10% discount. Don't worry about which level of ski to rent (regular, sport, or demo) as they will apply the discount to whatever level of ski you end up with. The store is located on the mountain near the Silver Creek ski area which is about 2.6 miles from the main Villiage Ski areas (and where night skiing occurs). We picked up the skis by car when we first arrived the evening before at no extra charge, but it is also accessible via the snowshoe bus. Note: While writing this I read a negative review from last year regarding insurance. I did not get insurance, and noone mentioned anything when I returned the skis with several course-of-skiing gouges/scratches on the bottoms from ice and rocks on the slopes from grooming so perhaps last year was a one-off. You should not have to pay for damage from normal on-piste skiing.

I wish I could give the houses more stars than last time, but sadly, not much has changed. The houses look a little more tired than before, and the state park still hasn't done anything to make them any more comfortable or inviting. If I was in charge of the houses, I would hang old-timey pictures of men logging, of trains, scenery from other state parks, and black and white photos of the town of Cass from 100 years ago. Give your customers a sense of time and place. Also, these houses still need a lot of love and maintenance. They need new paint, roofs, and other miscellaneous items repaired or replaced. Overall, this is still a very cool place, and I will probably be back. But it's as if I can feel the town slowly dying....without more money and maintenance from the state.
