The staff were all great people! Bought lots of Platoro sweatshirts, fishing gear, fishing license, etc. And they were super helpful, especially with making fishing recommendations. We also had a pizza night with them one night and took over a lot of the restaurant with 21 people! Their hand made pizzas were great! Platoro, CO is a great find, no cell service, no WiFi, just amazing outdoor living! Less than 100 people live in Platoro during the short summer season, great experience! read more

We ate there once this summer after visiting the establishment for several years with the former owners. New owners meet you with a beer in hand and only serve pizza hamburgers and chicken strips. we got pizza and although it was a good size it made me sick. Went in another time and they said they were out of food at 3:00 in afternoon. sorry folks. you have ruined Gold Pan for me. very disappointed in new owners. while we were eating she sat down with two customers and proceeded to bad mouth all the hikers and customers that came in. very unprofessional. Gold Pan is NOT closed. It closes during the winter every year, like everything else in Platoro does. Mike and Debbie are the best thing going in Platoro. Cabins and rental RV's are both nice and extremely clean. Outstanding place to grab a "home cooked" meal (Mike is a phenomenal chef) and they have reasonably priced, very clean showers for people doing primitive camping in the area. Their store is very reasonably priced for the area and well stocked with essentials and great souvenir items. I've visited Gold Pan both as a primitive camper nearby and also as a rental customer. They treated me like family on both occasions and I'm looking forward to being back for a third visit in the next couple weeks. read more

Owners Mike and Debbie are delightful. I don't own an RV but they are easy going and welcome you in with a smile when you enter in their doors. Nice shop with several souvenirs to choose from. We took our RV and ATV for a nice stay in the mountains ! The owners were super nice! They have a gift shop that has lots of cute T-shirts and gift items. A few grocery items. Also a cafe that serves Breakfast, lunch and dinner! The only negative thing was no laundry or cell phone service.We will definitely come again read more

My family recently rented two cabins for four nights at Gold Pan. I can wholeheartedly recommend Gold Pan and the service provided by Mike, Debbie and staff. The cabins were extremely clean with no dust, cobwebs etc. and very well supplied with all kitchen items needed including pots, pans, utensils, colanders, crock pots, dishes, cups etc. You couldn't ask for more. The bathrooms are clean with nice showers and more than adequate hot water for your group. Heat is supplied by baseboard units or wood fired stoves if desired. Mike and Debbie run a tight ship with a lovely cafe and very well stocked gift store with souvenirs, fishing tackle, artwork and clothing. They are able to provide local information on fishing and sites as well as recommending guides and wranglers if you desire more adventure. I've been coming to Platoro since 1978 and it was nice to see Gold Pan in such good hands for a tiny town with few amenities. Highly recommended. read more

I love Platoro, Colorado, been spending summers here for the past 8 years since we got married up on Stunner Pass. My husband has been coming to Platoro every summer since he was 2 years old 42 years ago. I couldn't imagine a more beautiful, relaxing heaven on earth. Our favorite place to eat while in town is at the Skyline Lodge. They serve the biggest and best pancakes you will ever have, and Beverly's greenbeans are the best kept secret in town. I say secret because she wont give up the recipe! The owners Mark and Beverly are two of the kindest people, and the staff there, who are their family members are always amazing as well. If you need a good laugh go in and meet Mark's sister Amy at the front desk she will have you in in tears with laughter, with her great personality and sense of humor. I'm not very familiar with any of the other establishments in town other than Gold Pan Acres and I dont have anything nice to say about it. The owners and staff are very rude to the customers as well as other people who own property in town. I don't recommend staying in their facilities or eating at their restaurant unless you want small portions of frozen food that most dogs wouldn't eat. read more

We haven't stayed here yet, but met the folks and looked at the cabins. The cabins are very nice, but there are only four, so you better make arrangements W-a-a-a-a-a-yyy in advance. The people that own this business are very friendly and the food in the restaurant is reasonable and very good quality. The pizza is to die for! read more
