Each can have it's own local spin on things as well. Overall, our room was clean and comfortable, which is what we needed for the night. This particular location was good, with a few things that could improve. Check-in online was easy and it's great to pick our own room, but the digital key didn't work, so we had to pick up physical keys at the desk. Desk staff was nice in the evening, but non-existent in the morning. There isn't a key drop box, so we had to toss the keys on the desk (after throwing out the paper cover). The room controls (also controlled in the Hilton app) weren't working, so we could only set up the TV service (not the room temp). The towels are apparently washed with some type of scent that's reminiscent of tea, but doesn't smell great when the towel is wet (maybe that's an Indiana thing? I've not come across that at other Tru hotels). The above wouldn't make us not stay there again, but it's the little things that can really make or break you staying true to a brand or trying another local hotel.

I was hoping to get a room at BB all the rooms were booked, I thought that that was a good sign so we booked a room at the Hilton gardens. Every little town was EMPTY, like a ghost town. there was nothing open for lunch or dinner on Saturday night. We had dinner at the Olive Garden. Sunday Morning we drove to Nappanee hoping to experience the amish life. There was nothing open for breakfast. Following a sign to a "quilt garden" we came across a small diner "Athens Gyros and Diner" open Mon.-sat. 5am-9pm and Sunday from 6am -8pm phone (574 773 3391) I give this place 5(*****) We had a nice breakfast and I can tell you that if you planning on visiting Nappanee you need this number. There was nothing authentic about amish country, VERY touristy, but they have a great marketing group. Read the small print.

I come to Elkhart on business. I have a number of customers in the area so I spend a few days. This…read moretime the Courtyard across the parking lot was full and a bit pricey. That's is my go to. But I couldn't go to. This had good reviews on the Bonvoy Marriott app. So I booked it. First impression on the room is it's older. Not bad but definitely older. The room is a 2 queen room. I like the extra bed to put stuff on. And it's bigger. Bathroom is older too. First issue was the toilet seat was loose. Really loose. Called the front desk and in the middle of the call the phone cord on the nightstand phone separated and I couldn't continue to talk. So I put the phone back together and called again. About 4 mins later Caleb came up. He saw the toilet and needed a screw driver to fix. He came back about 15 mins later and fixed the toilet seat. Also the shower head is wonky but I didn't notice that till I took a shower. So clearly maintenance needs to be done. And lastly under the fridge the wood is destroyed. Not sure what that is but I am not opening up the fridge. Otherwise it's a typical Fairfield, LOl! It's clean for the most part. Staff is fine. It's fine for a few nights. Next time I'm going back to the courtyard.

This hotel was fairly new with a great lobby and friendly staff. It's far enough away from the interstate to assure quiet. It could easily pass for a newer Courtyard. Large rooms and large restrooms. Time for me to reconsider the brand.
