We encountered so many issues on finding lots that will let you stay overnight. Most lots want you go shortly after home games. We love this lot because it's car & RV parking. If we have friends and family who are just coming for the game and driving separate they can park with us verses having to find a "car only" lot. Location is just a small walk to campus. Easy in and out during events. The gentleman who runs the lot is actually on site pretty much the entire time. The parking lot has it's own port-a-potty which is very clean and stocked with TP. You are parked with enough space to spread out with your tailgate gear, tables, grills and even an evening fire if you bring firewood. The lot owner usually calls to confirm a few days prior and is super accommodating! Highly recommend the Pendle Rd. lot if you need event parking for RV's or even cars while in South Bend.

Really liked the grounds of the park, all the view points of the pretty waterfall and the walkway and staircase around it. The large river flowing by the park provides access to water sports with a nice boat launch area. The lodge offered games and other amusement plus nice viewing deck of the river and forest. We did not use the pool or the facilities, only there two nights, but they did appear in working condition. In the future, if we are in this part of the state we would stay longer at this park.

The store was beyond overpriced ($4.99 for marshmallows that are so old you can tell through the bag that they are stale), and the staff was not very friendly compared to other KOA's and they were especially not helpful. (When I asked for recommendations of places to go for hikes/walks in nature nearby I was told to Google it.) If you want to have a camping experience in nature, you will be disappointed in this campground. If you want a cheap alternative place to sleep when you are visiting South Bend, maybe you will be satisfied. But please note that they felt it necessary to implement a key card system to even get into the campground. So I wouldn't feel comfortable tent camping here. (Someone with mal intent could just drive up to the campground and then get out of their car and walk into the campground. )

As soon as we pulled in we noticed the beach on one side of the parking lot and the sand dunes on the other. We decided to climb the dunes first. There is one big hill that everyone was going up. It is challenging but fun. Great views from the top. And super easy to come down. Then we went to the beach. Sand was really nice and clean. A storm started to roll in so we had to leave the beach a little early. They do a great job of communicating and changing the flags when the beach conditions change. There are bathrooms and some food vendors. Only wish is they had actual showers to clean off all the sand. They have the outside ones but they weren't very efficient.

They do have permanent sites and they have their own pool and clubhouse. They pick up your garbage every morning. On weekends they sometimes have music and food that you have to pre order. We did not par take. EVERYONE was so nice and friendly. EXCEPT FOR THE OLD GUY THAT GOT OUT OF THE POOL TO CLIP HIS TOE NAILS AND LEFT THEM NEXT TO HIS CHAIR AT THE POOL‍ Lots of dogs which I loved! Wow, what a fun weekend we had. The weather was absolutely perfect, cool and breezy. The campsites were nice & cozy next to one another. Clean park. Clean pools. Ah, the bathrooms & shower houses needed some much needed attention all day/night. The restrooms/shower houses are unisex. So many activities for children to do all day long.
