Figured it was worth it as it was getting dark and Beckley is 30 some miles away. The hotel is situated 3 miles from downtown Welsh on Hwy 16 (Stewart Street).It's a very quaint motel. Met the clerk at the motel (who met us at the office since no one is there 24/7) and checked in which was a very easy process. She was very personable and friendly. She informed they recently got a new mayor who is very ATV friendly....which hopefully will boost business. The room was very clean and loved that it included a refrigerator and microwave. The tiled bathroom floor and tiled entry area were pretty sticky and the carpet didn't look completely vacuumed. But overall the cleanliness was good. There isn't a coffee maker in the room but I did notice there is one in the lobby. But since no one is in the lobby 24/7 and it remains locked, I'm not sure how someone would access it. There is WIFI but it was pretty weak...assuming the equipment is in the office and my room was the farthest one away. Overall, it's a cute motel that's comfortable and has most of the necessities. It sure beats driving in the dark on some of these windy roads. Highly recommend!

My coworker checked us in and I was walking in as he was coming out, and she gave the extra effort to tell me where I was going. I appreciated her positive attitude and warm welcome after a very very long day of driving. I was shocked to have a large TV and a nice desk to work at. Shout out to Rodger for cleaning my room and leaving a personalized note. Just goes to show the staff actually care about this place. I would definitely recommend this place to any fellow travelers!

The are several charging ports in the room as well as a charging station in the lobby. You can get continental breakfast from 6am to 9am on weekdays and 7am to 10am on weekends. (I believe this motel was recently touched up.) The furniture, wallpaper, and bathroom all looked new and fresh. It has modern amenities: flat screen tv, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot. Everything was clean, with a light smell of air freshener. Someone put effort into decorating the room, with artwork and tasteful fake flower arrangements. I gave my room number, and--without asking for my name, ID, or even confirming I belonged there--the employee just handed me a key and said, "Have a good night." I'm sorry, WHAT? That's not customer service, that's a security disaster waiting to happen. We stayed in room 504, where we were greeted by a musty, dirty odor strong enough to knock you backward. The room looked like it hadn't seen a dust cloth in years. The bathtub? Absolutely disgusting. Several light bulbs were out. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable, the whole place felt like a tropical rainforest with the humidity, and the Wi-Fi (which I need for my work as a REALTOR®) didn't connect at all. To top it off, the shower had no hot water, and by morning, I'd developed a sore throat. The pool was supposed to be our redemption moment. Instead, an interior light fixture came loose while my kids were in the water. We immediately got them out and told the staff. Two hours later, the pool was still open and people were still swimming like nothing happened. Because apparently, here, safety hazards double as "added ambiance." Then there's the "pet relief" area--a 5x5 patch of grass that looked like a landmine field of other dogs' poop, with shards of glass scattered throughout. The bag dispensers were empty, not that I didn't bring my own. My poor service dog deserves better than that. And just when I thought I'd seen it all, I spotted exposed wires on the 5th floor, seemingly connected to a security camera. Nothing says "welcome" quite like loose electrical wiring. The one and only pleasant surprise? Breakfast. It was actually good--shockingly good, given everything else. Unfortunately, one decent meal doesn't erase the fact that this stay was dirty, unsafe, uncomfortable, and far below the standard Hilton promises, especially for Diamond members.

I can't find one thing to criticize, they run a tight ship..Also kudos to the entire housekeeping staff, they need recognition for the great job they do, not many hotels achieve such a high level of cleanliness... The cleaning lady told me the maintenance would check into it - however second night the yellow stuff formed again on the top of the water! Weird & Yucky! Otherwise convenient location next to Mingo County courthouse & parking is across street included in your room cost! Good people & recommendation high! Enjoy a nice sleep! Ask for a room by 2nd street though the train and traffic all night will keep you awake during the night on the back side!
