The room was clean and had a rustic modern feel. When the carpet is beige, you know they have to take care of it consistently. Everything had a plush feel. The shower had a rainfall showerhead and a handheld. There's a scent that emanates throughout the hotel and into your room. It's light and adds to the ambiance. It's also in the sheets and linen too. I guess that adds to one of the negatives I list later in that the HVAC seems to be centrally controlled. There was some very minor debris in the sink that may have been left from wiping of a dirty rag, but that was mostly it. Gym was nice and parking was plentiful and free. What I didn't like: - Mini fridge in the room had a lot of snacks and other drinks that I assume were for sale. I usually pack my own food, so those items took up some space in the fridge - I get cold easily, so I try to adjust the thermostat, but it's centrally controlled, which I've never seen... I'm assuming all of the rooms are regulated in this way... - Breakfast bar- had bare minimal which I really don't mind. We were too tired to walk down the stairs and ask for another room that met our needs so we sat with our coats on, eating and watching TV before some man entered our room, apologized and walked out. There wasn't even a knock. It was such an icky feeling or not being safe in our room so we left for a bit to let our room warm out and decide if we wanted to stay overnight or not. There is no elevator so if you're placed in a room on the second floor you get the luxury of walking the lobby stairs. It wasn't a big deal except for when we wanted to swim so we had to walk through the lobby in our bathing suits. It was more awkward after swimming because there's a sign to leave the towels at the pool and not take them to your room so we had to walk back to our room, still cold/wet and pass through the lobby as other guests were checking in. The hot tub is not working correctly. I wish that was stated online, as it was a selling point for us. As we came and went through the lobby multiple times, nobody asked us how our stay was. I know it's cheap but I thought it would be more welcoming in hopes for more business. Oh well... In the morning we went down for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the spread provided. However, the yogurt was gritty like it was frozen and then thawed. The eggs were the kind that come in a bag and heated up (eggbeaters?). Very salty. The orange juice pitcher in the fridge still had the sticker on it from the store (Walmart brand, maybe?) - which worries me that it wasn't washed before being used. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

The review still states that 3 people could stay in that room, which would only be true if one of the people were 4'6" or shorter. Breakfast was not what I'd have expected from a b&b. First, I'm used to being able to sit at a table near other couples but not be forced to be at the same table as we were here. Half a nice grapefruit was a good start. Then some slices of store bought krugel. Fine. But then no eggs. No savory portion. Just straight from the store bought coffee cake to some kind of French toast which seemed mostly just bread and sugar. She asked who eats sausage. Regarding cleanliness, it seemed to be okay on the surface, but I dropped something under the bed and found some remnants of cereal that had not been picked up by a vacuum. Not the end of the world, but it was there. Although I see that several people have commented that the breakfast was good, I found it to be loaded with a lot of unappetizing, artificially-flavored junk. The powdered eggs did not look appealing. I made a waffle, but threw it out after one bite. I ended up with a banana and oatmeal. I am probably in the minority here, but I think it would be better to have fewer breakfast options, but of higher quality. My biggest complaint was that with fees and taxes, the room for one night cost over $300! For a little town like Burlington, and for the quality of the hotel, I think that room rate is outrageous. My room did not have a mini fridge or microwave which I've found standard in other branded hotels at the same price point. The hot breakfast was decent and typical of other hotel brands I've stayed in. I gave it three stars, because I expected more from it being a Hilton brand. I don't drink much, but they had a FREE local beer on tap in the lobby at happy hour time. The location is nice in that it feels safe and isn't near a million things but is close to the highway. The rooms were extremely clean and the staff was extremely nice. The pool is small but heated and relaxing. The lobby was a nice place to hang out as well. This was the only Marriott in this general area, but I'm glad it was there for me to stay at!
