In mid January 2014, I found a 1997 Ford Thunderbird listed on line with Elkton Auto Corral in Lisbon Ohio, I contacted them immediately about the vehicle. I spoke to Jay the owner, he explained that he had the car for a few weeks and it was in very good condition. The vehicle only had 50,000 miles on it at that time, so I decided to take a 2-hour ride to Ohio to look at this car. I had called Jay a few times before going to Lisbon and he answered all my questions and told me that he would have the car cleaned and inside his garage for me to look at it, when I arrived I was greeted by his with Susan at the front desk and she was a pleasant as it gets. One of the staff members located Jay and he came to the showroom to greet me, he took me into his garage and pulled the car cover off of this car and to my surprise this car looked BETTER in person than it did in the online advertisement. I was floored by the vehicle and realized that in my few conversations with Jay prior to me going to his car lot he answered all of my questions and concerns with honesty. Jay allowed me to take the car for a test drive around Lisbon and the care rode like it was "1997" again, I could not believe the car I found. I intentionally went to Ohio that Saturday without another person because I knew if the car looked as good as it did online I would have brought it home that day. The following week after my test drive and visit to Elkton Auto I contact Jay a few more times over price and one little concern over a knob in the car, Jay told me not to worry about a simple knob that he would take care of it, he did take care of the only thing that I could find wrong with the vehicle and he worked with me on the price of the car. I am 35 years old and never bought a used car and was very hesitant to do so but I could not pass up the same vehicle I drove in my early 20s. Jay and Susan were both GREAT and I look at their website every once in a while to see what else they have on their lot. My daughter will be 16 next year and I will make another trip to Lisbon to get her a car, the quality of service and quality of the vehicle I got from Elkton Auto well surpassed my expectations. the car i bought off these people is structurally unsafe to drive to begin with. he advertised this car as an amazing car needs nothing..... boy was he wrong. this car needs about everything done to it from the sub-frame to rockers replaced, completely. they're not going to be safe in the case of a collision. They are so rusted the structural support of them is almost non existent. that's just where the real major problem is.... The car has an oil leak, unknown where from exactly right now. the oil pan has been coated in some sort of material to prevent leaking. its leaking power steering fluid. Both rear struts are bad, one leaking. Both sway bar linkages in rear are shot. Fuel lines are so rusted theyre ready to pop. someone tampered with electrical themselves on it, now has a security light flashing all the time. It need new rear brakes (which they just replaced) soon. on top of all that, i call back and offered to take a $400 hit on the car and return it to them and the lady refused. The man seemed like he kind of was willing to until he asked her. he knew what kind of car he sold me!! Then i called back again to offer them the chance again before i filed a complaint with the BBB.. her response is "ive dealt with them multiple times go ahead sweetie" then proceeds to say "ill just sue you if you write it, oh wait i cant sue someone who has nothing." if i write the review. then also threatened me saying "you better never come back into this town." their business tactics are just to dress a car up to look presentable no matter the shape and pawn it off on the next guy. then threaten them with suing when theres an issue. I'll contact a lawyer as well if need be. All im asking for is a safe car to drive. im not asking for anything other than the rusted frame to be fixed so the car is safe in the case of a side collision. read more
