This campground very recently transitioned from a KOA to private ownership. Like most campgrounds, there are definitely some good and bad points, so here's our experience. We were originally placed in Site 90, which was extremely small--more like a parking spot than a campsite--with several trees clustered around the area where you would actually need to set up camp. It was not the site we originally booked, and we learned that specific sites are not guaranteed. We asked to move, and I will give the staff credit: they handled our request professionally and moved us to a much more typical campsite. If management reads these reviews, though, please reconsider Site 90! It really shouldn't be used as a regular RV campsite unless some of the trees are removed. One important heads-up for anyone booking a riverfront site: the odd-numbered campsites along the river have the hookups on the opposite side from where you would normally expect them. This setup works for a motorhome that can pull into the site, but it does not work well for a travel trailer that needs to back in, because your hookups end up on the wrong side of the trailer. The newer staff member helping us wasn't aware of this distinction, so we were very thankful that a seasoned employee stepped in and alerted us before we ended up in a site that wouldn't work for our trailer. This is definitely something travel-trailer owners should ask about when booking. Our site had power and water hookups, which worked well. The bathrooms were VERY clean, which I really appreciated. The only downside was the shower temperature--it was definitely on the cool side. That might feel great during hot summer weather, but during a cold Ellensburg Rodeo weekend, a hot shower would have been wonderful! The laundry room is coin-operated and the machines are older, but everything was clean and the machines were a good size. Bring your quarters! Otherwise the front desk will exchange cash for quarters. The pool and hot tub are lined rather than the typical concrete pool/spa setup. Both were fairly clean, although being outdoors, some debris does accumulate. One thing to know: the "hot tub" appears to have originally been a wading pool and is only about 12-18 inches deep. You can sit in the warm water, but you definitely aren't soaking up to your neck in a traditional hot tub. My biggest frustration is the booking system, particularly for Rodeo weekend. Returning campers are apparently given first dibs on the same campsites year after year, even before others are able to reserve them. We were told that if you return every year, you essentially get priority for your previous site. There were several empty sites this year because of the weather, which made that policy especially frustrating. Staff described the system as "fair," but personally, I would much rather see reservations handled more like a hotel: when booking opens, available sites are available to everyone. Since this is now under new ownership, I'm also not sure why the old system needs to continue as KOA doesn't typically offer that service. There were new employees working the front desk this year. They were genuinely kind and pleasant, but having brand-new staff working during such a huge weekend understandably led to some frustration and confusion. Overall, I'm still mixed on this campground. There are things I really liked--the cleanliness, hookups, and friendly staff--but the site assignments and reservation system could use some improvement. I would probably explore other camping options in the area, but unfortunately Ellensburg seems to have pretty limited campground availability, especially during Rodeo weekend. read more

I made reservations in early 2026. Most RV parks just want a deposit. This place wanted the full dollar amount for the entire stay. I paid that. Then in early August, I had to cancel the reservation, due to a medical condition. In mid August I was told a check would be mailed on Monday. They said I would get a refund, minus a $20 cancellation fee. I never got my refund and still haven't got my refund as of late September 2026. I called numerous times, but still no refund. We stayed in a teepee and it was very cool. Good experience to have. Great Friday welcome party with hot dogs and drinks on the house. Very friendly staff. It's expensive however and they tacked on $100 refundable hold on the credit card. I think this is unnecessary. read more

The staff at Ellensburg KOA were super nice and helpful, which made our stay pleasant. The sites are gravel and level, providing a stable base for our RV. However, we did have to clean up dog poop from our site upon arrival, which was a bit disappointing. The first three sites in each row are nicer, but as you move further back, the sites become weedier. The campground is quite dusty, and you can hear the freeway noise if your campe/rvr doesn't have good insulation. They did also have hotdogs Friday night that was fun it was also a jam session. Overall, Ellensburg KOA is okay for a few nights' stay. A highlight of our visit was the Farmers Market on Saturday, which was fantastic. read more

We own a 2019 Tiffin Phaeton. Pulled into the KOA campground and immediately had problems with our our outlets, power recliners and flashing LED lights a clicking sound. We have been moved twice to different 50 amp spots. Our refrigerator is flashing and clicking, our outlets are not working. Our surge protector says that the ground neutral wires are reversed. When the generator is on, everything works great. Hope it doesn't ruin our refrigerator or outlets. read more

I reserved an RV site more than 5 months in advance, but needed to cancel a few days later. This KOA doesn't follow general KOA guidelines for cancellation and refused my request, even though it was still 5 months prior to the scheduled visit. I've stayed here previously, but probably will not in the future, and certainly will not reserve in advance. I contacted the general KOA office, which provided no useful assistance. read more

Absolute worst camping experience. The grounds are dusty, garbage just blowing around, and none of the guests are held accountable to any type of rules. Kids constantly running through your campsite yelling at the tops of their lungs, older kids in groups yelling profanities, I woke up to find someone parked a car directly behind my trailer in my campsite. Loud music and what can only be described as a "kegger" going on until 2:00am with kids still running around yelling and music blaring. There's a separate tent area that has abandoned vehicles on the side, like a junk yard. Pass this KOA and stay at a truck stop; it'll be cleaner, quieter, and probably safer. read more

This KOA is an absolute scam They collect the entire payment upfront which should have been my first warning, then they send you an email that says in the top paragraph you can cancel, but then way at the bottom they have a clause that no one will see that says they wont refund you from April to Nov due to a solar eclipse which is basically the entire year and they will argue with you. Bethel gave me back $10 on $229 and we canceled over 1 month in advance. Don't go here. Just another greedy company that would rather take your money than have a good reputation read more

This is a very old tired camp ground. We did not have a dog with us and there was a lot of dog poop all over our site. The grass was dead and there were lots of weeds all over the sites and in the common areas. We were only there overnight to clean our rig and get ready for a cross country road trip. A huge shout out to this beautiful campground located on the river, Gayle, and Athena. We were traveling across country with our truck and 5th wheel when our truck decided it wanted break down just West of the exit. We barely got off the highway. With a prayer of hope I called the KOA at the last minute hoping they would have a spot big enough for our large RV and truck. Gayle was super understanding and together with the help of Athena they secured a spot for us at the last minute for four days, until we could figure out how we were gonna get back home. To my surprise, when we were able to leave they refunded our money also. The camp itself had a off leash park our two goldens enjoyed with water bowl and dog poop bags for a bonus. The bathroom/showers were clean. I felt very safe staying here. I noticed the pool looked clean and it had a very cool playground. There is a smaller store inside where you can purchase a variety of items incase you forgot something. They have personal servicing the area, picking up trash, watering lawns. This was my first experience with this type of campground and I was impressed. It exceeding my expectations of what the KOA is. read more

We booked this place less than a day before we stayed there. Fortunately there was a really nice river view site available. We stayed in site 19 and it had a huge shade tree with picnic table under it and an amazing view of the river. Couldn't have been happier with our site. I saw some of the other sites and would have been a little less enthused if I had them. But basically the entire row of riverfront sites were very nice. I walked down and looked at them all and would have been happy in any one of them. The showers and bathrooms were nice. My kids enjoyed the playground and horseshoes. Pool was in good condition and the grounds were maintained well here. We were a little disappointed at the food section in the general store. There was plenty of empty space in the fridges for more food but they lacked some stuff we needed like bacon in the morning. We are typically able to get that at other KOAs of the same size. They offer pizzas for $12 that they cook. They are big enough to feed 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 toddler size kids. Nothing to write home about but gets you out of cooking a meal. Very thankful we found this place last minute. read more

Really if i could give zero stars i would. We booked at the beginning of February for the weekend of April 13 for a Baseball tournament. The tournament was cancelled so i called KOA on February 24th to let them know we know longer needed the reservation and would like a refund. He said we can not have a refund, mind you, this is 400 dollars we are out. He said it is in the cancellation policy. If you read the cancellation policy it completely contradicts itself. I asked for the owner and he claimed to be the owner. We went back and forth and i told him he's running a scam of a company to take advantage of people this way. He informed me that he books out well into 13 months in advance which tells me he would have zero problems with getting his 400 dollars. He then proceeded to compare his policy to airline travels saying that airlines don't offer refunds. I called him out on his illiteracy. Real life events happen. God forbid something major like a death happen to someone and they need to cancel because you will be out 100% or he says you have 90 days to rebook. NO THANK YOU! With the economy the way it is, this POS happily will take advantage of people. DONT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU. read more

We booked 2 camp spots for 2 nights, cost about $350. On the second evening a huge summer storm flipped/ soaked everything and we had to leave to get a hotel in order to be warm and dry that night. When I returned in the morning to our campground , I asked if they could offer us a discount on another night since we only got to spend one night there. The girl in the office said "unfortunately it's weather related and we can't offer any discount". I said "ok, how about a late checkout so I have enough time to clean up the huge sopping wet mess that's now our camp." She says, "it's $15 for a late checkout ". Me- "so $30?!" Her- "I guess I can just charge you $15" We ended up buying 2 nights at a local hotel with free breakfast and a warm pool/ hot tub for the same as it would have cost to book one more night at KOA. We've been visiting KOA for the past few years but won't be back again due to the greedy vibe of the place. Had to wash my car 3 times to get the sticky sap stuff from the tree our camp was under . Not only was our stuff wet, its infested with earwigs and covered in sticky mess from the tree. read more

We have stayed at the KOA in the past, this year something has changed. Very disappointed with the condition of the swimming pool. It must have a liner because the edges were coming off and the bottom of the pool floor was all bumpy. Water was cloudy, unclean with bugs. Deck floor was dirty, clumps of hair and dirt around the fence area. Grounds were very dry, grass was completely dead in most spots. I realize that it is very hot, but I remember in the past the grounds were more kept up. Family rented a cabin and the bathroom shower curtain was gross and moldy. I am sad to see the lack of care of the Ellensburg KOA since we have family that live in Ellensburg and in the past the KOA was a great place to stay. We recently stayed at the Leavenworth KOA and it was very impressive. Unfortunately, this KOA did not meet expectations. read more

We do a lot of camping at RV parks throughout the year. This is our least favorite park thus far. Constant noise from I90, dirt roads, and sites that are packed tightly together all result in an awful experience. They try to make up for this with goofy features like having a golf cart escort leading you to your campsite when you arrive and daily trash pick up at your site which translates into garbage bags sitting all over the campground all day. read more

Not. Worth the $70 a night. The river is too fast for floating, swimming etc and there are signs stating that it is closed to those activities. The campgrounds are neat but too close to a major highway-97 so we got highway and truck noise all night. And due to Covid the pool is closed. We had to look around Ellensburg for activities for the kids The park staff are very helpful. read more

It is what you'd expect -- it's surprising that folks either give it 5 or 1 stars. Truth is, you have a spot along the river if you have a tent, but you're right off the interstate so it's loud. On the plus side the staff is friendly and you can get firewood, ice and even booze delivered to your tent. read more

We loved this place so much that we extended our 7 day stay to 11 days. Beautifully maintained grounds. Most sites are pull through so easy to get setup with plenty of room between most sites. They have a lot of employees and all are ready to help. We like to bicycle and the park was perfect for an evening ride. The John Wayne trail was nearby and we loved being able to bike for miles seeing the scenery. We drove up the mountain for some exploring in the forest - a great day. We were about midway between the river and the freeway and could hear the freeway only when outside but it didn't bother us at all. It's a really nice, quiet park. We will be back and plan on exploring other KOA's to see if they are all this great! read more

I've stayed in their kamping kabins a couple times in recent years, rates for an overnight stay were around $80. This year, it suddenly jumped to $153! Sorry, that is too much, as much as I love kamping, I will stay at Motel 6 when I am in the area. read more

This is our fifth year staying at the Ellensburg KOA. We go to the rodeo every year and camp in between friends on one side and family on the other. This weekend is a HUGE family tradition that we look forward to every year. We always pay for and reserve our spots (4 sites total) one year in advance so that we have our spots for the next year. Our campsite is printed on our reservation receipt. This year we arrived and our spot (the middle site) was given away to a "long-termer" and we were moved several sites down away from family and friends in a spot that was WAY too small for our trailer. We were not given the courtesy of a phone call asking if this move would affect our stay, no email... Nothing. Just "too bad, the site assignment is up to owner discretion". When one of our group members asked if we're supposed to just walk through the site that's in between our two sites that someone else is now camping in, he was told "that is a violation and you will be asked to leave for that type of behavior with zero refund".  We pay nearly $500 for this high demand weekend which is completely non-refundable and learned this year that the rates will be nearly $700 for next year. We also allowed our son to bring his friend which should have been a $15 charge for three nights and with no explanation other than "rates have changed" were charged $84 extra for this adjustment and we're told "you keep adding people to your site". We were a party of 2 adults and 3 kids. A normal sized family. There were no efforts made to accommodate us, no offer of a partial reimbursement for our inconvenience.... Nothing. We will not be booking with this campground ever again. They lost several loyal customers and around $2,800/for future Rodeo weekends between our families. Extremely disappointed. read more

Really disappointed. We did have a really nice spot on the water. But we were there for 2 days and we usually leave our leveling blocks in place so when we come back we just pull right up. Been doing this for years and never an issue. We come back to our site and someone had stolen our blocks. Called the office and they had no idea where they went. They were nice enough but if you leaver ANYTHING out it will be stolen. I've never had anything stolen and in campground across the country except here. No small credit back or anything. They really didn't care at all. Went to get propane.... NOPE.. all out. Really have nothing good to say about this place. I suppose I'm just pissed I had to buy $35 worth of new leveling blocks and they just didn't care at all. Lesson learned I guess. Some campers playing load music as well. Stayed here on our return trip after driving over 500 miles in an RV. Very friendly and helpful staff, we were lucky and arrived just before the staff left for the day. There weren't many campers so it was pretty quiet. Yes there is some road noise but not to bad, being able to sit and just watch the river flow by was nice. The trees on the property were in full bloom and shedding pods and pollen so allergy sufferers be mindful for extended stays. Bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. Wifi was slow, they do offer upgraded Wifi connection at an additional cost. read more

We stayed one night here in one of their cabins. The cabins are very nice and can sleep six people. They also have a nice fire pit out front for s'mores roasting. The only two things we didn't care for at this campground was the proximity to the highway (probably pretty noisy for tent campers) and the cleanliness of the restrooms. I can understand a few bugs in a campground restroom, but there were piles of dead bugs in this restroom. When you're paying that extra premium to stay at a KOA, I expect it to be a little bit cleaner. We still plan on using their cabins since it's cheaper for our family to stay in one of these than rent two or three hotels rooms, but I really hope they clean up their bathrooms a bit! read more

I reserved a tent site here to spend the night after a concert at the Gorge Amphitheater about 45 minutes away. I wanted to get away from the crazy college crowd that frequents the campgrounds closer to the Gorge. Everything was great. The little store is great, had everything I needed - firewood, fire starter, roasting sticks, campfire lighter, ice. The staff is super friendly, it felt more like checking in to a hotel. The entire campground is clean and well maintained. They have two bathroom buildings and both are cleaned at least daily. Very clean and free hot showers. We ended up paying a small fee for a late check out and spent most of the day bumming around the campground. Cooked our lunch on the fire, walked down to the river, played frisbee in the yard, played on the playground equipment, tossed a football around, and played cards back at our site. My only complaints would be lack of privacy and the road noise. There is no separation between sites and their is a considerable amount of road noise, but neither really affected us to any measurable extent. I would definitely stay here again. read more

OK, the traffic noise from I-90 can be a bit annoying. However, everything else about this KOA makes up for it in a big way. Located on the Yakima river it is a great place to fish and float the river. We stay here during hunting season too and it is an easy drive from here to LT Murray and other great spots. The staff is always awesome and the manager Gail is great to work with. I look forward to many more great stays at this KOA. Well maintained facilities including clean bathrooms and showers. My husband and I went rafting on the Yakima River recently and this is where our group decided to stay. I usually camp at State Parks and had no experience with KOA. Most of the sites here are for people with RV's but they have about 25-30 tent spots. The tent sites are right on the river, which is nice, but there is no privacy at all. Luckily when we visited only a handful of the sites were taken. We were the first in our group to arrive and were assigned a spot. We were unaware that the group had reserved 3 sites next to each other at the very end of the campground. The next day we inquired about moving and they accommodated us, which we appreciated. If you want certain spots I would call to make the reservation. I booked online and you can only choose the area where you want to stay, not the specific spot. KOA has quite a few amenities. If you're in an RV they have hook ups for you, including cable TV. There is also a playground, swimming pool, free showers and a small general store. I did appreciate being able to take a shower after a day of rafting. One downside is that it is right off of I-90 so it's a little noisy. There is even a small overpass that goes through the tent sites. Overall this is a nice, maintained campground in a good location. However, this is not how I really like to camp. I like to rough it a little more and be in the middle of the woods. I think KOA is great for families and people that want to take a trip or go camping, but they don't want to give up many of the amenities of home. read more

This is a Large KOA. The good Well meintained, alot of sites, clean bathrooms ,free showers large shadey trees. A large tent area with 4 honey buckets ( out houses) A perkins right across the bridge with a Loves travel center convienience store. The owner buz arpund on John deer golf carts picking up the trash and making sure people are ok. The bad We are in a RV the power outlett needs a special adapter that only The KOA has they will let you borrow one or buy one for $60. The tall shadey trees rain big pinecones We wanted to be by the river and was told the large rv ammps not support it. There are about 50 screaming kids running every where. We were unfortunate to be placed by the playground. And they screamed all day and all the way to 1000pm the quiet hour . The KOA is right next to the interstate free way exit,There is a truckstop 2 blocks away. Alot of heavy traffic and trucks day and nite, free way noise, The river is swift about 15 miles an hour no guards 0r fencees to river just a drop off.there is very little privacy to each campsite. Row after row of motorhomes like you see at a dealer. The young girls at the cashier are snarky Seems to be an issue with dumping your holding tank. read more

This is our third stay here. We love the location on the river. We come to float. They have great service. This year we were in site 15. Our air conditioning kept tripping the outlet. After several people looked at the outlet they told us it was our camper that was tripping the outlet. While I appreciate them all looking at it we were in 90 degree weather with no AC in a camper that turned into a HOT box. To test our camper electricity we swapped our outlet with our son who was in the site next to us. It tripped with his trailer also. Clearly not our issue but theirs. Even after the manager or owner told me it was our issue he was getting enough electricity out of it when he tested it. He proceeded to tell me we were the only ones having an issue. Customer service went from great to less than desirable quickly. $62 dollars a night for a site that we couldn't use our AC in the middle of summer. I hope they look into. YOU clearly did not read my review! Our son was plugged into Site 16. We swapped outlets and we plugged our camper into Site 16 outlet to test it and it worked perfectly!!!! NO issues meaning the AC worked and it did not trip the outlet. We then plugged site 16 trailer into Site 15 and it tripped the plug after 20 - 30 minutes. So how does our AC need to be checked if it ran fine on 16?? And now my sons trailer was tripping Site 15 plug?? read more

We got a spot for the RV even though we just setup a tent. We loved the fact that we had a flat and fluffy land of grass to set camp on, there was a place to set fire so we made smores, and we had electricity. place is beside the highway so you can expect noise, I don't really care cuz my brothers' snoring beats some simple machinery passing by. So far my few experiences with Koa have been great and they should be expecting me to check-in as far as much as I need to camp. Personnel were kind and gave a great deal that we could not pass down. read more

OK silly one some presidential award or whatever you know the point is is it isn't that great 1st they tell you that the river's right next to you to go swimming kayaking and fishing then they tell you don't go near the river to kayak fish and swim because it's dangerous what the h*** and it's very over packed in overcrowded and they're so busy maintaining it that you don't really get any sleep it's just busy busy busy all the time and very loud and right off the highway and man they just need to improve it by opening up some more sites giving people more room and making it a little more friendly and less noisy read more

A comfortable KOA. It's not their fault that we took the farthest up-wind RV site in the park and still a chain smoker settled in to the tent site next door, and went through a couple packs. The staff was friendly and efficient; I liked it that the bathrooms have no code to remember when I'm half-awake.... The river flowed right next to us. It's conveniently located close to town. They had ice when we needed it. The internet connection is a problem here; they try constantly to reduce bandwidth even though we weren't downloading anything. Be better if they'd ease up a little; I got tired of being thrown to a page saying "you are now connected to the internet" about every third time I clicked on something. If you have a lot of on-line work to do then this may not be the place for you. But all-in-all, I'd stay here again. read more

I will NEVER recommend this campground and have shared my review with our travel app. Electricity went out at 1 am. Due to this my husband (who uses a sleep machine) could not sleep.Offered us another site; we were only staying one night. Called both managers, no answer. Were told they'd call us. Never happened. Corporate sent them an email asking them to call us. Nada. Didn't get what we paid for. read more

The staff was nice and friendly. However site 47 was horrible. Hookups were all wrong however. They had to give us an extension cord to hook up off 50M service and it just barely made it. Also I had a 50' cable wire which was too short to hook up. This place was very busy and can definitely put some of the money than making back into the up keep of the sites. read more

Price gouging, no internet, service is nothing like it was prior to this year 2021. New owners have almost doubled the price, the internet is broken and they aren't reserving preferred spots any longer. Grass is dead, no food to site delivery, nothing is like it was. We have stayed here for many years and work in the RV manufacturing industry...we will no longer refer people here. read more
