No need to travel to North London, extra transgression points for buying your pastrami on Saturday, and you even get to eat it in the street and rub it in the face of all the people queuing for a way pricier burger at Byron's ... It's a tiny shop but the butchers offer excellent advice and sell great quality produce. As far as possible meat is locally sourced and the home-made sausages are something else! There's a lot of choice for such a small outlet and, if they haven't got what you want then they can either cut it or order it in. Turner's have a full game license and, in season, stock a good range of locally sourced game. Local produce is also stocked from preserves through veg. Customers are valued and treated as important no matter what you are buying. Prices are fair and the quality is outstanding! Recommended

They had a variety of pies to take home to be baked, but I didn't want to carry them all over the gardens and unfortunately this shop closes at 6 (gardens close at 6:30) so I couldn't pick them up on my way back either. Up until today, I would always go to Upper Street but today I found a beautiful local butcher and it's clear the community loves it because it was packed. When I walked into Frank Godfrey it smelled like cooking meat. I could have stayed all day just looking at the meat and enjoying the aroma. Since the shop was crowded I had several minutes to look at the meat and figure out what I wanted. The counter staff was friendly and eager to make suggestions. When I left with my purchases I couldn't wait to get home and cook them up! I am pleased to announce that I have found a new butcher and what can I say....it's amazing!
