Absolutely Terrible Experience - Shockingly Different From Last Year…read more I used this company a year ago and had a great experience, which is the only reason I decided to book with them again. Unfortunately, this move was the complete opposite. The movers showed up smelly and unprofessional, and they argued with each other the entire time they were in my home. It was uncomfortable to watch, and on top of that, they were clearly milking the clock rather than working efficiently. When my furniture arrived, several pieces were damaged--including an $800 dresser with two legs broken off, leaving it unable to stand. Three lamp shades never made it into my home during unloading, and the company initially denied they were ever part of the move. For a whole week, they ignored my calls and messages about reimbursement, after saying they would get back to me in 24 hours. They only responded once my father got involved, and even then, their offer was insulting: $70 for the three missing lamp shades and $0 for the ruined dresser. I'm extremely disappointed in how drastically their service quality declined. This company is now unprofessional, careless, and unwilling to take responsibility. I regret booking with them again, and I strongly suggest choosing a different moving company if you want your belongings--and peace of mind--protected.

The owner is one of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. He truly cares about his customers, and it shows in every part of the business. His crew was just as impressive--extremely efficient, professional, respectful, and incredibly kind throughout the entire move. They treated our belongings with great care, worked quickly without cutting corners, and made what is usually a stressful day feel completely effortless. Their communication, attitude, and work ethic were outstanding. If you're looking for movers you can trust, stop searching and call Amco Movers of Tennessee. I recommend them without hesitation, and they'll be the only moving company I use from now on. Thank you for making our move such a great experience!

They got most of our boxes to the correct rooms and were respectful of our furniture and home. The price definitely seemed fair for moving rates these days. My one complaint is that the crew seemed a little young and inexperienced. We had a couch we wanted to take upstairs and they just decided it wasn't going to fit and left it downstairs. My husband has measured now and it definitely will fit and now we're left to try to figure out how to get it upstairs on our own. More experienced movers will have measured before just giving up on the job. Otherwise they did a good job and we were happy with their service.

I am leaving this dumpster fire of a company a one star review because they are liars, scammers, and will say anything to get your business booked. This is another corpo outfit that is leeching off of Nashville's growth to provide poor service that is overpriced. I was the sucker, learn from my mistake. Don't believe these 5 star reviews that were clearly incentivized. TLDR -Charge $175 more than the next highest competitor because they said they would be there when I needed them to be -Show up 2:40 minutes late, only after I tracked them down through incessant texts to see if they were even coming -Arrive to the destination 75 minutes later than my wife who left at the same time and charge $250 more for their leisurely pace -Attempt to collect payment via phone when they were 45 minutes late and had not arrived to complete the service -Make no attempt to correct the litany of mistakes they made Do not use them, believe them, or trust them. Use Black Tie or 6th man, who I have used in the past and regret not using again. College Hunks were also $175 more expensive than the other quotes. I booked because they told me what I wanted to hear. I booked 4 weeks before the move and talked to all 3 of the companies above. The others said 2 hour window, which is normal, and they couldn't guarantee we would be the first move on Saturday morning. The only thing that mattered to me was that we packed and were out the door by 11am to move 4 pieces of furniture 90 minutes away because of obligations later that afternoon. College Hunks guaranteed we would be the first move of the day and sent me a one hour window of 9-10AM in a confirmation text. The night before I get another text saying 9-11AM. Didn't sweat it. Saturday morning comes and I had not heard anything by 10am. I call and text the number from the confirmation. I got a text response from someone saying they would call the crew. I get a call from the crew at 1120am saying they are 20 minutes away if we still want them to come. I can no longer help my wife move in but we still needed movers so they came and packed up the items and left. The guys that came were professional and fast, it's not their fault their leadership are greed driven liars. The destination is 90min away and doesn't have great cell service around the location but is straightforward to find. We gave them screenshots of the directions just in case. 2 hours and 15 minutes after they left I get a call from "the highest person in the company that talks to customers" and she has the stones to ask for payment when the service hasn't even been rendered because the crew had not even arrived. I told her to call me back when they actually completed the contracted service. The cherry on top of this crap sundae is that they charge in 15 minute increments. So when they pack up, leave, and show up 75 minutes after they are due, that costs me an additional $250. I asked her why they were late and she said that they were short staffed and got a last minute booking, as if that was in any possible way a satisfactory answer. She didn't give two rips about any of this and made no effort to reconcile the lies. If that is who is running your business, you ought not to be in business.

Our experience with College Hunks Moving in Nashville…read morestarted on a positive note, as the actual moving crew was hardworking and did a good job on-site. However, once the move was "finished," we discovered that two of our TVs were missing from the delivery. One of them is a 55 inch TCL Roku Smart TV, so it is difficult to understand how the movers overlooked it. We realized the TVs were missing about 2 hours after the movers left and directly contacted one of them about it. He apologized and acknowledged the TVs were likely still on the truck. He further indicated that his manager was aware of the situation. He said he was unable to bring us the TVs that day because he apparently had returned the truck to the office site and no longer had access to it. However, he stated that he would return the TVs on Monday (the move occurred on Saturday). We understand that mistakes can happen, but from that point forward, our experience with this company was frustrating and generally unpleasant. The TVs were not delivered Monday, and we never heard from a single employee of this company that day despite efforts to contact both the same mover we had communicated with about the TVs Saturday or someone at the local office. Every number for the "local" office we could find went to some general call-center, and the center would not connect us with anyone here in town. Finally, Tuesday morning, a manager did call to say they would be dropping the TVs off that morning. (Side note - we had to carry the TVs in ourselves. We know this is a small thing, but it says a lot about a moving company when they deliver your TVs 3 days late and do not even offer to carry them in for you.) After the missing TVs were eventually delivered, the 55in TCL Roku Smart TV was severely damaged with a cracked screen. And, when turned on, it would not load the home screen which indicates internal damage. While the company did promptly respond to the damaged TV issue and agreed to refund the value of the TV (we are still waiting for that refund to actually go through), in the process of dealing with that we encountered several clerical and billing issues that added to the frustration: * Bedroom Overcharge: We were charged a $60 "Disposable Fee." When we inquired into what this fee was for, we were told that it is for disposable supplies the movers utilized during the move. The fee is $15 per bedroom, so we were charged for 4 bedrooms. The problem is that the house we moved out of only has three bedrooms. I pointed this out to the company, but they refused to refund $15 because the move "estimate" listed 4. While the estimate document did include "Supplies x 4," it did not give any indication that the number of supplies was per bedroom. So, we had no way to even know to question that on the front end. The fact that the company refused to refund based on the actual number of rooms involved and held firm on charging us based on the "estimated" number of rooms is simply predatory. * TV Kit Charges - We were charged for 3 TV "kits" at $20 per kit. A kit is essentially protective equipment designed to prevent damage to the TV during the move, and the company will not transport a TV unless you pay to use theirs. Of course, here, one of our TVs was damaged. Despite this, the company refused to reimburse us for this charge. Essentially, then, the $20 fee for protective equipment functions as an insurance deductible. We had to pay it to get the benefit of having the movers transport the TV, but when damage occurred anyway, we are only being reimbursed for the actual cost of replacing the TV. We are still out the $20 kit fee despite having received no actual benefit from it. (And now have to deal with buying and transporting a replacement TV.) * Confusing Billing: As noted above, the charges were not clearly explained. The same fee is listed as "Supplies" on the estimate but a "Disposable Fee" on the invoice. This just appears to be a deliberate effort to confuse customers and hide costs. * Calculation Errors: There were manual calculation errors on the final invoice that resulted in an overcharge. It wasn't massive, but when you consider this error, plus the failure to deliver the TVs until 3 days after the scheduled move, PLUS the damage to the TV, you would think this company might do or offer something to us (like refunding the supplies fee for the fictional 4th bedroom and/or the TV kit fee for the damaged TV). But they did nothing, and they were not even particularly apologetic. In business, the key to handling mistakes is to own them, apologize sincerely, and rectify the situation. Instead, we were met with a defensive attitude and rigid explanations for unclear fees. While the movers themselves were good, the lack of transparency in billing and the poor customer service we received when dealing with damages and missing items made our overall experience terrible. We strongly recommend using another company.
